>> live, local, late-breaking, this is wbal tv-11 news at 6:00, in hd. >> four days after a tornado ripped through a northeast baltimore neighborhood, some people are still not allowed back inside their homes. this weekend the red cross continues to help the victims of that tornado. volunteers have been set up at

the high school since the storm touched down wednesday morning. our reporter during the line from northeast baltimore with the very latest on this. >> cleanup efforts continued out pleasant andunt the dutch village. this is one of the areas hardest hit by the storm. the damage was so bad that 54 of the units were condemned by the city. you can see that the tornado ripped off the route to the building. in the meantime, the red cross is standing by to help a the victims of that storm. so far, the red cross has helped more than 80 families to work hurt by the tornado. they have been set up the reginald lewis high-school for the past few days. volunteers are interviewing victims of the storm, helping them get food, coordinating cleanup efforts, and pointing them in the direction of temporary housing. a lot of people are very grateful and appreciative of all of the help that they have received from the red cross, but

a lot of them are still anxious to get back into their homes and are waiting for officials to give them the green light. >> everyone who lived in dutch village has been able to get into their unit. there have been some incidences with mount pleasant. there are some liabilities forms to be assigned by the residents because of the insurance matters with the management company. >> the red cross will be back at the high school tomorrow to help any victims of the storm. if you need any help to add one to stop by, you can stop by between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. tomorrow. that is the latest from the scene out here in northeast baltimore. wbal-tv 11 news. >> at the photos are dramatic, but slowly the pieces are coming back together after the tornado hit. you can find out more about how residents are being helped by logging onto our website wbaltv.com.

traffic is once again moving on i-95 after police shut down all lanes because of suspicion of a package. in the end, they found nothing. city police are investigating a triple shooting in west baltimore that killed a 29-year- old man. police say three men were shot shortly after 10:30 p.m. friday night in the 1500 block of poplar grove street. one man was shot in the chest. he died from his injuries on his way to the local hospital. there is no word on the possible motive. mta police are investigating an early-morning crash that killed a man. it happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. on rte. 40 and just past the hatem bridge. traffic was redirected for about four hours. the victim's name has not been released.

in tonight's project economy report, the u.s. district court has temporary leaving -- has temporarily shut down mortgages, after allegations of fraud. the company and its subsidiaries are accused of skimming, honors out of thousands of dollars. >> the defendant charged in the case all practice under the umbrella of "residential relief foundation." is a bogus mortgage relief from posing as a government assistance program and making deceptive promises to consumers facing foreclosure. >> if consumers purchase their services, they will get their loans modified so that their monthly payments will be substantially reduced. >> according to court documents, the company initially contacts consumers by mail. this deal looks like the seal of the united states and says the

consumer could qualify for loan modification, late fees waived, legal fees waived come in to reduce the mortgage payment by as much as 40%. the company charges of up fee up front. according to the ftc, in most cases, the loan modification never happens. >> we have interviewed numerous consumers to all report nothing getting done. if they want a loan modification, they need to get it to themselves. they are not getting the assistance that was promised from this company. >> no one came to the door at the company headquarters this afternoon. early this week, the u.s. district court of maryland halted the company's operations and froze its assets. a message posted on the website explains that the company and its sister companies have been placed under a temporary restraining order. >> a hearing is scheduled for wednesday to determine if the restraining order will be extended. in the meantime, an independent

third party has been put in place at the company to investigate its operations. now to the war in afghanistan. president obama joined nato leaders today to announce a plan to end the combat missions in the country by the end of 2014. nato does the secretary general called it a timetable. president obama called it a goal. >> at their meeting in lisbon, nato leaders announced a plan to end their combat mission in afghanistan by the end of 2014. president obama endorsed the plan but refused to commit u.s. forces to such a firm timetable. >> we want to make sure that we are not still engaged in combat operations of the sort the we are involved with now. i will make that determination when i get there. >> the president pledged once again to start pulling u.s. troops out in july. but first, you have to review

progress with his generals. nato announced plans to start pulling down its troop levels next year and to wind down and the war over a three-year period. >> i do not see troops in a combat role beyond 2014. >> of the secretary-general of nato insisted that withdrawal would be based on conditions, not the calendar. he said he is optimistic that the buildup of afghan security forces is ahead of schedule. meanwhile, taliban force is answered back. bombers on bikes killed at least four people and injured dozens more in a suicide attack. >> still ahead, some kids are getting a new home on this national adoption day. we will take a look at the event. and a in the community comes together to remember a woman who lost her life to a driver texting

>> is a sad ending to the search for missing a ohio family. the mother, and friend were stabbed to death before they were dismembered and buried in a hollow tree. police located the bodies after the man accused of kidnapping the woman's 13-year-old daughter led them to that tree. the daughter was found bound and gagged last week inside his tom. a firefighter is in critical condition tonight after he'd fought a fire in philadelphia. a truck ran over the firefighter. he is said to be in stable condition. 100 people were forced from the apartment because of the fire. it is unclear about what started it.

>> 12 children will begin a new chapter in their lives today, being officially adopted at the baltimore county courthouse. one baltimore counties did and has spent her time and money to make today special, giving the newly adopted children a handmade picture frame, gift and the letter. a local photographer has also volunteered to take the very first family photo.

a day of remembrance for one woman brings out family, friends, and community members to bring an end to distracted driving. the second annual five kay took place today four members opposite -- four friends of the college women killed by a driver who was texting in 2008. participants raised more than $15,000 in scholarships for students and for educational programs on a traffic accident and their consequences. >> and now, your instaweather plus forecast. >> a perfect autumn day. it is hard to realize that there is a cold front is sitting over us right now. it could generate some rain. the nearest thing to it is a little persistent snow up in maine. very stormy weather out west and very quiet weather here.

let's take a look at what happened during the day today. all of that sunshine and a subtle breezed drove the temperature to 63 at the airport. typically, we would be at 55 degrees. reality is just around the corner. generally speaking, upon -- right now temperatures have dropped off a little bit. the winds have swung more northerly now. in western maryland, there is a little band of clouds. they are high, thin clouds covering the moonlight. there is a halo around the moon this evening. this is the cool front that has dropped out of pennsylvania and is over the area now. not enough moisture to generate anything but those thin clouds. that will move further south tomorrow. today on the warm side, tomorrow on the cool side.

it will not be quite as nice as it was today and tomorrow, all right? out west, the weather is unsettled. eventually this unsettled stuff works its way in our direction, but not immediately. the storm track will take it north for a while, so it will avoid us. tonight, chile, 34-42 the overnight low. tomorrow morning, the wind will be more easterly coming off of the ocean. that will probably introduce a few more clouds. i do not think we will go completely overcast, but we will see a mixture of sunshine and clouds during the day tomorrow. quite a change from today. the east wind from 5-10 miles per hour. two a foot shop, bay water temperatures in the mid-'50s. i do not think it is going to rain tomorrow.

i think some of the cloudiness will be here for the day tomorrow, but that is about it. but a warm front comes back on monday which gets the temperatures of up again, and then a cool front comes in in the middle of the week, and that will increase our range chances. rain will not be an issue tomorrow where we have a big football game in charlotte. temperatures should be in the 60's with plenty of sunshine. sunday, 62, monday, rain chances creep into the picture. tuesday, still a chance of rain. a thanksgiving day will be blustery and colder as we go into next weekend. >> and now, and 11 sports. >> a trip to the regional final four is on the line today. they are one step closer to a championship game. that is a nice reward.
