estate prices are hitting rock bottom in places. what can you get for your money? we'll tour homes from washington state to south carolina to see what's out there if you are ready to buy or what you can get if you are ready to sell. >> we'll throw it inside to ann curry with a look at the headlines. ann? >> good morning, everybody. the new jobs report is out today. it is disappointing. it says in may employers added just 54,000 new jobs. that's the lowest increase the market has seen in eight months. that takes the unemployment rate up to 9.1%. assisted suicide activist dr. jack kevorkian died in michigan where he was being treated for pneumonia and kidney problems. he claimed to have helped with at least 130 suicides of the elderly and infirm. he served eight years in prison from one case. he was 83 years old. new concerns as scientists probe the deadliest e. coli

strain on record in europe. they say the bacteria uses a rare gene and poisonous toxins to glue itself to patient intestines causing dangerous renal and neurological problems. so far at least 17 people died and 1,500 have been sickened by the strain, mostly in germany. philip garrido who kidnapped, raped and held jaycee dugard captive for 18 years received a sentence of 431 years in prison. his wife was sentenced to 36 years. jaycee's mother read a statement on her behalf saying she refused to waste another second in the presence of the person who stole her life. today marks one year since the disappearance of 8-year-old oregon boy kyron horman and his mother is fighting to keep the story alive posting billboards, promising to find her son. i talked to desiree about how

she is coping with life without kyron. >> it's been a long, hard year. my husband and i were talking just last night. where we have been, where we are now and everything that's happened. i remember the first night this happened and just feeling like i was in a dream, a nightmare really. that i might wake up one of these days. but it's been very difficult for us. >> she also said she believed there was, quote, overwhelming evidence against kyron's step-mother in the case and she expects to see her charged soon. turning now to can you spell cymotrichous. >> c-h-o-u-s.

hyperhidrosis and doesn't prescribe anything. >> this is excess sweating. we all sweat. that's your body's natural air conditioning. >> cooling mechanism. >> when you sweat and you're outside you can keep your body temperature in a normal range. over 176 million people in this country sweat excessively. that's the clammy hands or you can see people perspiring when they are anxious. >> stains under the shirt. >> so for this group of people, this is a time you want to say to your doctor, i know i'm not normal. what are things you can do for me? these are people who will sweat through anti-per sprants and deodorants. >> is there something they can do? >> there are several different things. anti-perspirants block the glands from sweating. deodorants keep the sweat from turning into bacteria which causes odor. first of all, get a good

anti-perspirant and putting it on at night helps because the chemical can be absorbed into your body. some people use it on their hands. >> not good for sensitive areas. >> most doctors say not for the face because you may break out. >> let's get to a skype from lori in georgia. what's your question for dr. nancy? >> good morning. the aluminum ingredient in conventional deodorants may be harmful. is this true? i have tried using natural deodorants but they don't work as well. >> this is something that's been out there for 20 years or so as to whether aluminum causes alzheimer's or cancer. there is no evidence that it does. but what it does is help block the glands from sweating. so they work better than the all natural ones. people will be up in arms

saying, but i like my all natural. do what's right for you. the all natural stuff works. it just doesn't work as well. again, remember the anti-perspirant is different from deodorant. sweat doesn't smell. it's the bacteria on your body that gets to be a problem. for some people, taking a few showers a day during this time of year may help. again, remember, if you're concerned and you want to use all natural stuff, put it on at night. >> on the phone now we have kelsey in rhode island. dpro good morning. what's your question? >> good morning. i find it hard to sleep at night because i am so hot, even with a fan on. how do you stop yourself from sweating at night and is there a reason i sweat more at night than during the day? >> our body temperatures fluctuate a lot at night. you're very young. wait until you hit your 40s. then you will really find out what it's like.

there are great fabrics out there now. all the athletic fabrics are being turned into sleepwear. get a fabric that wicks moisture away. layer the bed so you can throw off a cover or grab it back at night. you may be a person who fluctuates. i always get hot around 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning and i'm cool later. it's all normal. don't worry about it. just dress appropriately. have layered bedding. >> thank you. >> thank you, kelsey. we have time for one more. we have an e-mail for you, nancy. this is from alex in washington, d.c. hi, dr. nancy, is botox a good option for excessive sweating, particularly on my scalp? what are the side effects? would it cause the problem to move to a different part of my body? >> now botox is approved for sweating in the armpits. botox is approved. certain surgery -- laser surgery
