attempted robbery as employees were cleaning up to close last night. george just spoke with authorities and joins us live from the sheriff's office with the very latest on this. george. >> well, the employee stabbed was the manager on duty, a 21-year-old female. she is in stable condition right now at hopkins bayview. sheriff's deputies say she was stabbed with a knife that had a nine-inch blade go very deep into her shoulder. this happened at the kfc on the 2000 block of pulaski highway in edgewood at 10:45 last night. one of the employees was about to lock the door for good when two suspects barged in with that knife and a semiautomatic gun. when the knife wielding suspect saw the manager reach up to activate the silent alarm, he went over and stabbed her in the shoulder. the suspects than ran out of the store without any money. when deputies arrived they immediately went to help the injured manager and deputies say that the knife was still

in the manager's back, the knife stayed in her back until she got to the hospital. authorities say she did remain calm, which is very hard to believe. authorities are reviewing surveillance tape which captures this incident on camera. the suspects were concealing their faces so deputies need the public's help. if you have good information we will put up a number now, call crime solvers at 888-540-8477. there is up to a $2,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction in this case. we are live in hartford county, wbal, tv-11 news. >> woman remains in fair condition at bayview medical center after she was attacked by a dog. the woman was bitten by the dog around 5:00 friday evening in the 700 block of paca street. sources say the dog was taken into custody by animal control and is now under quarantine. prince georges county police

say alcohol and speed were factors in early morning crash that killed three people. it happened around 3:00 this morning near the intersection of route 210 and wilson bridge road. police say a gmc yukon rear-ended a mazda 3 sending it off the road and into a tree. the driver of the mazda and two passengers died at the scene. a fourth passenger was injured but is expected to survive. police say the driver of the yukon and passenger both appeared to be under the influence of alcohol but neither was injured. the driver is in custody but has not been officially charged. four vacant homes damaged after a two-alarm fire in west baltimore. flames broke out after 11:00 in a house in the 1100 block of west baltimore street. the fire spread to the three adjacent homes causing the rear of two of the housing to collapse. officials are still trying to pinpoint the cause of that fire. meantime, baltimore county fire crews had their hands full battling a two-alarm blaze in parkville. officials say the fire

started in the basement of an apartment building around 2:30 this morning. no word on what sparked this fire. fortunately, no one was injured during either incident. >> turned out to be a nice day around town today. we had a little rain overnight last night, just in some parts of town, a little thunder and lightning but it wasn't very consequential, and right now a weather system is in the process of moving through the area. we're relatively dry and we had some clouds this morning. we stayed cool for a while. we really could use some rain but it looks like it is avoiding us. the rain you see on the radar now south and west of us really isn't aiming at us, per se, and we're getting to the point where it will be hard to develop anything new in our area so the rain chances are just about nil around the chesapeake bay this evening and for the next couple of days really, but the chances to heat things up after a couple of days are pretty

good and we will talk about a hotter forecast in just a minute. >> thank you. new cell phone video claims to show damage from a u.s. missile strike near pakistan's border with afghanistan. the strike took place near the town of wana in pakistan friday. u.s. and pakistani authorities have not confirmed whether the attack kills one of al qaeda's most wanted leaders, described by u.s. officials as al qaeda's military operations chief in pakistan. cell phone video taken by a local tribesmen showed bodies wrapped in white sheets lying nearing an orchard and an emotional robert gates met with troops gates posed for photos and thanked them for their service. he paused several times to praise the several times to praise the servicemen and women for their sacrifice. >> i just want to come out here to thank you for the last time for your service and for your sacrifice.

>> the floodwaters continue to rise in central north dakota. officials have started evacuating are residents and cutting power to neighborhoods that are starting to flood. morton county commissioners say floodwaters are keeping in fast and estimate some homes have about two feet of water in their yards. now all they can do is watch and wait for the waters to start receding. >> now your instaweather forecast. >> we had a lot of heat last week for a few day. then we settled down. we missed the rain this weekend that we thought might affect some parts of the area and now we have heat coming back in the week ahead. right now, no rain to speak of around us. a few thin clouds here and there. radar is free except for an isolated storm down near roanoke. thunderstorm warning in effect for down around the

roanoke area and a few thunderstorm cells in ohio. nothing nearby really targeting us at all this evening, and the later we get, the harder it will be for a storm to well up. let's take a wider view of what's going on on the radar. the morning clouds that we had, they were rain producers overnight, spotty shower activity here and there and many areas didn't get it though, and now it's pushing to the south. those who did get it only had a couple hundredths of an inch. there is severe weather to the west that is drifting off towards the carolinas, not taking aim on us, so it looks like the evening will be fairly quiet. 83 was the high at the airport. 82 at the inner harbor. typical is 80. there is the .01 of an inch of rain that fell before dawn today. now, we did have clouds this morning kind of slow the temperatures up but once the sun came through, we warmed up nicely to just above the average. on the boardwalk, down to 73. elkins, 79.

westminster, 81. frederick, 84. in the 70's in the mountains to the west. you can see how in the northeastern part of the u.s., those are the cool temperatures, 50's and 60's in new england. the 90's and a few temperatures approaching 100 with more humidity off to our southwest, kind of waiting on the doorstep, so we have all this stormy activity out to the west. there is a front to the south and we're in the dry side of it, and a front to the north really won't come in, but this kind of sets the stage for tomorrow. the hot air stays away tomorrow but it's out there waiting in the wings and eventually this hot stuff will be drawn in our direction, and we will see a change in temperatures in the week ahead. down in the tropics, forecasters still watching this complex of storms down in the caribbean, favorable conditions possible in the upper atmosphere to allow this to become further organized. we will continue to watch the tropics. evening storms south of us more than likely if they occur, although it is a small chance. 57-62 the low.

birds lose 7-4. tough outing for jeremy guthrie and the orioles. >> jeremy wasn't carrying normal stuff, and it was kind of a struggle for him most every inning. it was kind of wild in the strike zone and paid the price, but then there's still a game there to be won. we had some opportunities, and we're a ball four away from getting the ball down the plate there. >> the red sox hosting the a's, jonathan ejected yesterday, calmer today. crawford starting to heat up in the second, crawford, a three-run jack, his fifth of the season, boston unfortunate 3-0. in the fourth, parton with a base hit, and it is now a 3-2 game. adrian gonzalez has been everything the sox have hoped for. in the fourth, he goes the opposite way over the mound, his 12th of the season. red sox beat the a's 6-3.

oakland starts a three-game series at camden yards starting tomorrow. roger federer may have the most grand slam titles in tennis history but it's hard to call him the greatest of all time when he can't beat his greatest rival. the latest win coming today by nadal at french open. both great champions. these fans showing their support for roger in the first set. federer was up 5-2 and had set point on nadal's serve but rafa would rally by winning 7 straight games. nadal in the blue with the forehand winner takes the first two sets. third set, here comes roger coming back with the forehand. he's starting to feel it now but nadal would quickly gain control, dominating the fourth set. this is match point. and there it is, rafa nadal wins a record tying six french open titles, equal mark set by bjorn borg and his tenth grand slam, six behind federer. dale earnhardt, jr. has to
