misdemeanors. her fiancee spoke on "the today show." >> could be just a day away from freedom after almost three years in jail. it is possible the judge could sentence the 25-year-old to time served on the only of the four count she was convicted of, making false statements to police. the jury took less than 11 hours to acquit her of the most serious charges related to her daughter's death, including first-degree murder, a charge that could have resulted in the death penalty. the only juror to speak out is one of the alternates. >> i thought the prosecution was able to show how she died, what was the motivation. >> but others who watched and even testified had been very vocal against the verdict, including her former fiance, who said it left him shocked and angry. >> right now she has everything she ev wanted. she is going to have money, people at her doorstep and

inner harbor. with the humidity, it is going to feel close to 90 degrees already. we are expecting temperatures to get closer to the 90-degree mark as we head into the afternoon, and there are thunderstorms on the radar. we will keep the possibility of storms mainly throughout the afternoon and in the evening, they will start to taper off. >> new this noon, fire investigators try to determine what sparked a fire in the greenspring valley area of baltimore county. flames broke out shortly after 9:00 this morning on candlestick drive. the fire quickly spread to the garage. fortunately, no injuries were reported. the extent of the damage is done now. the man convicted of killing his girlfriend and leaving her body in virginia will be sentenced today. frederick christian was found guilty in april of the murder of his girlfriend. she disappeared after not showing up for thanksgiving dinner in november 2009. david collins is that today's

sentencing. he will have the latest tonight on 11 news at 5:00 and 6:00. in anne arundel county, the man accused of entering homes and taking pictures of women is expected to enter a plea in court today. 35-year-old charles novak was arrested in late december on burglary charges. police found cameras and videos and women's undergarments at his home. he faces more than 20 charges, including burglary, theft, and peeping tom. the search continues this noon for the person responsible for the stabbing death of a man monday night after the harbor fireworks show. the father of 04-year-old boy shot in the fight wants answers. jennifer franciotti has that story. >> tens of thousands gathered at the inner harbor to watch the fireworks, but a deadly stabbing, shooting and fights marred the celebration. 26-year-old joseph calo was stabbed to death outside the mccormick and schmicks restaurant. police have released a picture of a person of interest. police believe that calo was

that as a result of an argument between two groups of people early in the evening that reignited. >> moments later, the victim reengages the suspects and the fight resumes, whereby the suspect who was armed with shattered glass bottle swung the bottle and struck the victim in the neck. >> these two are in town from new jersey and were just feet away from where the stabbing occurred. >> i kept trying to grab him because the blood was totally around his head. >> just want p -- one pop, and very close to us. >> this man was with his pregnant fiance and 4-year-old son when the sun was hit by a bullet. >> if it wasn't for that one cop, who i want to thank personally, i don't know if my

>> we have been talking about the possibility of showers and storms through this afternoon, and that is already happening out there. take a look at hd doppler. you can see quite a bit of activity from a virginia moving to the southern tier of the state. there is at least a little bit of lighting reported with this cell, and at more pushing toward ocean city and eastern shore, and concern of heavy downpour and mining with those storms. -- and the lightning with these storms. you can see this moving towards the southern tier. that is the possibility that more storms could pop up near baltimore. that is what we are looking at for the forecast, all because of a frontal system that has been hanging around for the past day or so. the cold front is lifting back up to the north as a warm front. the warm and humid air will aid in making things more unsettled. we keep the possibility of more

showers and storms, although they will be scattered. eventually, another cold front will head towards our area as we get to friday. a couple of rocky days in the forecast, although you will have patches of dry weather. sunshine and clouds, and as we get towards the afternoon, scattered showers and thunderstorms. the worst of the storms, or at least the heaviest of the downpours, likely towards the southern tier of the state. temperatures will be very warm in the afternoon, opera 80's to low 90s. with the humidity, it could feel as though it is the mid-90's. as for ocean city, still a chance for storms, although that should be weakening as we get later into the night, especially the overnight hours. over the next couple of days, a strong chance is increasing. friday at ocean city, 81 degrees, 51% chance of thunderstorms. things are going to be a little

unsettled these next couple of days. cold front near our area as we get to thursday. friday as well, the cold front passes by as. possibility of showers and storms as well, at least around 40%. temperatures dip down a little on friday. it will be especially cool as we head into saturday morning. for now, we are calling for a mostly dry weekend. sunshine in the area, lower humidity. early next week, those storm chances will increase once again, as will temperatures. >> in today's "medical alert," the obesity rate in america is alarming, but a lot of people don't know that millions of women are starving themselves. some suffer from debilitating and even fatal eating disorders. it is not just young women affected. >> carrie did not expect to be here, in treatment for an eating
