295 crash may have led some evidence behind. >> live, local, late-breaking. this is wbal-tv 11 news at 6:00. >> thunderstorms and flash flooding moving across the metro area as a slow-moving cold front heads our way. we will track the storms and see how they impact the weekend, coming up. >> this comes on top of all those strong storms that created all that damage last night. >> heavy rain slowing down the friday afternoon rush hour and the storms are really impacting the eastern shore and southern maryland where severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued. the potential is there for some damaging winds in this line of storms. the worst of the weather stretching across queen anne's county and moving into northern caroline county, and down toward

-- >> county. -- down toward charles county. there is some potential for rotation with that system moving northeast at 14 miles an hour. all along that line of storms there is the potential for heavy downpours that could cause localized flooding. the good news for our region is that things are drying out rapidly to the west of us. this line of storms will impact the area for the next couple of hours and then rapidly improving weather conditions are expected to come our way. there was storm damage in the dundalk area. barry simms has more on that. >> chain saws have become a familiar sound in dundalk. lightning hit this trade just as

there may be evidence of who is responsible for attacking a jeep with a hammer and tapping a shot gun against the windshield. investigators believe the suspect may have leaned on the vehicle during some point of the attack. >> witnesses have said that the individual was at the vehicle, striking that front windshield with a hammer and walking around the vehicle. >> according to police, some witnesses actually stopped to watch the attack. witnesses have helped authorities develop a better description of the suspect. is described as a white man, 60, gray hair, wearing clear glasses, blue jeans, and carrying a black backpack. this became more operator said the man yelled incoherently just before striking the windshield with a small hammer.

barrack >>two men are behind bars charged with attempted murder in relation to a house fire. there are charged with setting fire to a home on february 18. eleven people were in a home at the time. police believe gonzales was trying to kill his wife, who was divorcing at the time. both men are being held without bond. because of a three-alarm fire is still under investigation. the fire was so intense, part of the home did collapse before crews got it under control nine minutes later. it is not known if the weather played a role in sparking the blaze. >> 30 years ago, the first space shuttle launch into orbit.

strong, damaging winds in debt in this line of storms. what appears to be tracking toward northern caroline county. the center of the storm located 2.5 miles north of queen anne could produce some damaging winds and hail. it will cross the maryland- delaware line here in the next few minutes. south and west of that system there are additional strong thunderstorm cells moving across the bay toward st. michael's. southern maryland getting pounded as well. great news for the baltimore area is that the clearing trend is under way to the west of us. that will move across the entire state by early tomorrow morning. it will be just a few more hours before the showers get toward the coast and away from us in time for the weekend. severe thunderstorm warnings in effect right now over on the

eastern shore and parts of queen anne's county. part of calvert county also under a severe thunderstorm warning with damaging winds and hail. the watch has been cancelled to the northwest of baltimore. steady progress being made. rainfall totals, with last night's rain and today, these bull's-eyes indicate over 5 inches of rain. four or 5 inches of rain in the extreme southern part of the city. you can see most areas getting a upwards of an inch or more of rain. that means the flood warnings continue for the next few hours a round of baltimore metro area. temperatures are still in the seven's and even some 80's round here but it does the color of to the west. the lower the dewpoint, the

around the chesapeake tomorrow. ocean city will have a nice, summer weekend with rain ending early tomorrow and the rest of the weekend should be dry. around baltimore, a temperature stay warm but the humidity comes down, with sunny skies. cooler temperatures by the middle of next week. >> the winner is nobody yet, but a curiously timed decision in st. louis today makes things a little more interesting. the nfl lockout is deemed legal, which gives significant leverage to the owners. the court also sent the antitrust suit back to minneapolis, asking the court to hear arguments that draftees be able to sign it seems right now.
