people who text 911 or use gps devices. >> i am not naive enough to think people will stop this, but it helps. we need to create awareness every day. we need to create education campaigns that will change the culture in the united states. >> several other laws also took effect in maryland at midnight. for a complete list, visit wbaltv.com. one person is dead after an accident on interstate 83. it happened around 1:45 this morning on the northbound lanes in hunt valley. two vehicles were involved. there is no word if anyone was injured. the accident remains under investigation. water restrictions have been lifted after a water pumping station lost power. dpw officials say lost power and affected more than one murder 50 customers.

state, there is mixed precipitation in the oakland area. later this evening, that should turn to snow. they could see an inch or two of accumulation in the higher areas. that would be the first snowfall of the year. that is pretty exciting. it is 52 degrees at the airport. the wind is out of the west at 9 miles an hour. we will take a closer look at when the rain and clouds will move out and when we will get nicer weather coming up. >> we're hearing from the family of a man who died after eating tainted cantaloupes. the family of plants wells is suing jensen farms and its distributors officials say he had the same strain of wisteria as a nationwide outbreak. >> the numbers have me awe.plet --

1.5 million people eat cantaloupe and my father passed away. it is mind-boggler. >> family members say wells bought the cantaloupe a produce market. this the only reported case in maryland. ♪ >> all were invited but only three showed up. the national federation of republican women invited the whole slate of the gop contenders to speak at their convention this weekend in kansas city. herman cain, rick santorum, and newt gingrich attended along with 100 republican women. results of their straw poll today will be announced tomorrow. congratulations to the senator. after a lifetime of breaking ground and years, she will be inducted into the national women's hall of fame tonight.

it is something she describes as a humbling honor. deborah weiner is with the senator in seneca falls, new york. >> the longest serving woman in the u.s. senate to hall of fame inductee. she tells us she has assembled -- is humbled. but there was nothing in my background was say i would hold office or be an historic figure. >> a historic figure in a historic town. seneca falls, new york, the birthplace of the women's rights movement were the first convention for women's rights was held in 1848. it was a fitting place for the national women's hall of fame. there are 11 new inductees. she joins the likes of eleanor roosevelt with 247 women honored in historic seneca falls.

dan joerres. >> it is and honor well-deserved after decades of service to our community, state, and country. this weekend, senator mikulski will be inducted into the national women's hall of fame. she is the longest serving woman in the history of the united states senate. she is joined by billie holiday and correct scott king from baltimore. there are also pioneers like donna shalala and catherine switzer became the first female to officially enter the boston marathon. when she learned of her nomination in march, she commented on how inspiring her fellow nominees were. the same can be said of her. as the first female democratic united states senator, she has spearheaded legislative agendas that have improved all of our lives. from laws promoting equal health care for women to better care for our service men and women
