accident. some possible delays are forming. we might start to see some delays southbound on 83. annapolis road, a truck fire. we check speech centers. 56 on southbound 95. -- we check speed centers. a smooth ride on the j.f.x. 56 on the west side. 11 minutes on the outer loop west side. five minutes down towards the fort mchenry. on the west side, building in volume as we checked old court road. no official delay appeared the key bridge in pretty good shape on the east side. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> a fight over a paintbrush. that's what police say led to an arson and a tire shop. >> an employee faces a laundry

list of criminal charges. kim dacey is live with new details on this investigation. good morning. >> a bulldozer is the only thing that remains where the tire shop used to be after the fire. sources tell us there was a fight among employees just moments before the fire. one of those employees, 35- year-old jason hicks, has been arrested. -- he is facing charges. it wasn't long before a fire at this west belvedere tire shop escalated to three alarms last monday afternoon. sources tell 11 news that the blaze may have been caused by an argument over a paint brush. here's what we've learned. jason hicks and other workers have been using tar and gasoline to paint tires at the shop. apparently, hicks got into an argument over a paint brush being used by another worker. that paint brush eventually caught fire along with the tar and gasoline mixture they had been painting with. witnesses claim hicks pulled out

a lighter, flicked it on, and everything caught fire. sources also say hicks tried taking the burning mixture out of the building and dropped it. police have since arrested and charged him in connection with the fire. 11 news went to hicks' last- known address to get a statement from relatives, but no one answered the door. we also stopped at the house of the owner of the tire shop, but apparently no one was home. one person was injured in that fire. it took fire crews several hours to contain the flames. the building was destroyed in the process. hicks' charges include first- and second-degree arson, assault, and reckless endangerment. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> police are investigating a police-involved shooting this morning. officers arrived at a home on st. victor st. with a confronted a man with a gun.

>> officers entered the house. they found an individual who was armed, an adult male 40 to 50 years old. officers asked numerous time that the drop the weapon. he turned toward the baltimore police officers, at which time they fired at least one in defense of shot. >> this morning that suspect is in critical condition at shock trauma. two of the men in annapolis are recovering from gunshot wounds. somebody shot james wilson and guan brown. brown is listed in critical condition. so far police have not identified any suspects. >> recovery crews will be back on the chesapeake bay to try to locate the victim of a plane crash. the pilot managed to swim to safety but told police his elderly mother died in the

water. her body has not been recovered. a crash that killed one person and injured four others. this happened on liberty road sunday afternoon. the victims are being treated for serious injuries. >> police are investigating a deadly motorcycle accident. juan carlos calderon mejia was not wearing a helmet when it lost control of this bike and it skidded into the back end of a tractor-trailer. >> jury selection begins in the trial of the mental hospital patient. he is charged with first and second-degree murder in the death of a woman at the clifton hospital. he reportedly told police he snuck into her room, kissed her, then strangled her with a string.

>> it is the first monday in october which means is the start of the new term for the supreme court. kate amara has more on the docket at the high court will consider this year. >> this new session is likely to be dominated by a challenge to president obama's health-care overhaul. the big question looming over the start of the 2011 term -- will the justices hear a challenge to the health-care law? both sides have asked the supreme court to step in and make a decision before the next election. >> it will settle a pressing national question now, and it will establish a precedent about the limits of congressional power. >> lower courts are divided over the constitutionality of a key component. can the government require people to buy health insurance? >> there is always this question of the court trying to identify the boundaries of legislative authority, and this presents a good case of it. >> while court-watchers believe the justices are nearly certain to take up the health-care issue, they have already agreed

arrested over the weekend. thousands of people nationwide are speaking out against what they call it corporate greed of big business. >> consumer spending numbers remain stagnant for the past month. consumer spending rose 0.2%. incomes fell for the first time in nearly two decades. consumer spending numbers remained virtually unchanged. consumer spending accounts for about 7% of economic activity. to get away from this jury weather a cell starts to more and is good and all royal caribbean tours. they are reducing the deposit requirements for new bookings during the sale by 50%.
