loyola university with what students need to know before heading overseas. >> the world was watching as amanda knox's conviction was overturned yesterday. she went to italy four years ago as an unknown college student, one of thousands of americans that study abroad. a rite of passage for many students. more than half of loyola university's junior class studies abroad every year. loyola's dean of international programs says loyola conducts orientations stateside and on location to prepare students for immersion into a foreign culture with an emphasis on how to assimilate. he advises all americans traveling abroad to register with the state department because it is much easier to get support if authorities already know you are in the country. if students find themselves in trouble, american colleges and universities can offer some guidance, but that's about all. >> we will do everything we can to provide them with legal support, with a translator,
