loyola university with what students need to know before heading overseas. >> the world was watching as amanda knox's conviction was overturned yesterday. she went to italy four years ago as an unknown college student, one of thousands of americans that study abroad. a rite of passage for many students. more than half of loyola university's junior class studies abroad every year. loyola's dean of international programs says loyola conducts orientations stateside and on location to prepare students for immersion into a foreign culture with an emphasis on how to assimilate. he advises all americans traveling abroad to register with the state department because it is much easier to get support if authorities already know you are in the country. if students find themselves in trouble, american colleges and universities can offer some guidance, but that's about all. >> we will do everything we can to provide them with legal support, with a translator,

maybe with a lawyer. but the law is the law and there is nothing we can do about it. >> he also recommends getting a cell phone once you get to a foreign country, to be sure that it works so that you can call for help if you need it. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> the johns hopkins university community is on edge this morning following the sexual assault of a student. a man attacked a victim over the weekend on love grove street. the victim said her attacker indicated he had a gun. a fugitive is wake up behind bars after making a daring escape from police. 25-year-old vincent avila man is to break free of this leg shackles and made a break for it at york and west roads. officers did catch him if you blocks away.

lost faith in city police after a man punster in the face. sheila kauffman said she was trying to stop a fight when one of them punster in the face. it wasn't her fractured cheek that hurt the most. she said was the police department's indifference. >> we ask for a cop to come over and i said i wanted to press charges against the guy who hit me. we had his name. said there's nothing we can do about this. >> police did not respond to our phone calls but did tell her she could file a complaint with internal affairs. >> police are warning residents to lock their vehicles after a rash of break-ins in the wilkens area. authorities say the thieves are targeting dodged products.

skateboard on port deposit what he was struck by a vehicle. he did not survive. police continued to investigate the incident. we now know what killed former ravens orlando brown. the offensive linemen died of complications from diabetes. he died as harbor view condo at least behind three sons and a daughter. you might want to put down that second cup of coffee. baltimore is one of the most stressed out cities in the nation. it placed a respectable 12th between houston and miami. the rankings were based on quality of life indicators including housing affordability and traffic congestion. the top five or los angeles, new york, chicago, washington, d.c., and san diego. i'm surprised by that.
