peacefully. he battled pancreatic cancer. he was forced to take several leaves of absence from apple. he was last seen at the unveiling of the ipad 2 last june. abruptly resigned as the ceo two months later. news of his death was heart felt. >> it is very sad. i admire him quite a bit. >> i want to pause and remember. once in awhile somebody comes along and he was truly inspirational. >> jobs and his company became synonymous with innovation while constantly pushing for the next generation of technology. >> he had a unique vision and he did not follow the crowd. >> today he is being remembered

this was an incident involving the ex-girlfriend of brian eaton. the veteran is now out on $50,000 bail. police are looking for clues in the death of a woodlawn man. neighbors discovered robin givens dead on as lawn on tuesday. >> homicide investigators are not releasing information about the matter of his death at this time. they want to keep that close to the vest as they pursue this investigation and look for suspects. >> the news has startled the quiet with lot neighborhood and police say right now they have little to go on. >> a man fleeing from police dies after losing control of his vehicle. trooper spotted the driver driving it radically on wednesday at speeds exceeding 80

miles per hour. the driver lost control and slammed into a tree. he was pronounced dead at the scene. >> a maryland health group is pushing for a tobacco tax hike. they want to raise the tax by a dollar. maryland last raised its tobacco tax during a special session back in 2007. reasons charges of some lifesaving prescription drugs have possible scrambling to find supplies wherever they can. jennifer franciotti joins us live downtown with more on the plant one maryland congressman has to crack down on the alleged profiteering. >> elijah cummings has requested documents from these so-called gray market companies to see if the price gouging is justified. they're buying and selling drugs

on the fda drug shortage list. the help fight cancer and other emergency room medications. quality and manufacturing issues have caused the shortages. elijah cummings launched the investigation. one medication that brenda frese uses is in short supply. >> obviously it impacts us. i'm fortunate that my son, you know, the drugs have been made available. but just to think as a mother and as a parent that you are limited a drug that could save your child's life i think is inexcusable. >> so does congressman elijah cummings and he has found that a lot of these companies are acting as middlemen and raising up the price as much as 680%. reporting live, jennifer

no thanks to request to enter the presidential field. >> kate amara joins us live with more on what that means for the race. could morning to you. >> with just about three months to go before the voting begins, it looks like the republican field is finally set. after months of leaving her supporters guessing, former alaska governor sarah palin ended the speculation. she will not run for president. >> she is a shrewd politician, and she's seeing that there isn't much elbow room for another candidate at this time. >> in a statement, palin said she and her husband, todd, "devote ourselves to god, family and country. my decision maintains this order." in a recent video posted on youtube -- >> you don't need an office for a title, to make a difference. >> this comes one day after new jersey governor chris christie said he wouldn't enter the 2012 contest -- >> now is not my time. >> and leaves little doubt that

kind of things are going on. >> coach brenda frese led the maryland women's basketball team to a championship victory in 2006. but now the mother of twins is taking on a tough opponent off the court. >> this is extremely personal for our family because with my son tyler, who is 3 1/2 years old, he has leukemia. >> ashes, ashes, we all fall down! one of the medications tyler takes to treat his leukemia is in short supply. it is on a federal list of drug shortages that includes other cancer-fighting drugs, blood pressure medications, and emergency room medicines. the fda says quality and manufacturing issues have caused the shortages. brenda was frustrated by the news and wrote to congressman elijah cummings, who launched an investigation. his research revealed that some companies are acting as middlemen in marking up the price of limited drugs as high as 650%. congressman cummings said it's criminal and proposes a legislative fix.

outstanding going to the weekend. 71 tomorrow. it might be close to 80 degrees on sunday. go out and play. >> time now for a look at one of our big stories. congressman elijah cummings taking on drug companies making a quick buck off of supply shortages. jennifer franciotti is live downtown with the story. >> the congressman has requested documents from so-called gray market companies buying and selling drugs on the fda list that are in short supply. they are in short supply because of quality and manufacturing issues. the congressman found so far that some of these companies are indeed acting as middlemen and they are jacking up the price as much as 650 percent. he wants to hear from you -- if you have any information about price gouging, he said of the tip line and to find a number just contacted office.
