more than the prosecution. >> david collins has been following this case. he is live at federal courthouse with the latest. >> there was a lot of back and forth regarding legislation that exclusively benefit shoppers. no sooner had former state senator john giannetti settled into the witness steistand thate conversation became combative. the prosecution contends the paid consulting job with shoppers was a secret. giannetti was not biting. when asked about last-minute legislation in the 2005 session to allow the transfer of a liquor license from one jurisdiction to another, giannetti said the political reality is, everyone knew this was a shoppers bill. prosecutors pressed giannetti on whether he was aware currie was

being paid by shopper. the prosecution could not solicit a definitive answer from giannetti on what he knew about the shoppers relationships and whencurrie knew it. giannetti said, i told senator curry that i would put in an amendment on the bill that would allow the transfer of the liquor license. the center replied no, you are too hot right now. prosecutors filled in the blanks for the jury, suggesting currie did not want giannetti to put in the amended because he was getting a lot of press at the time. he said he was getting a lot of heat from the community for supporting the proposal to put a beltway exit ramp to the college park campus. the defense tried to put a fine point on their point oncurrie's relationship with shoppers was not a secret. the defense asked giannetti peak discussed the consulting job with colleagues.

he said he told other people. prosecutors called on a lawyer hired by shoppers to draft that legislation. she detailed numerous contacts with currie and said they never disclosed that he was on the payroll. testimony will resume on tuesday. david collins, wbal-tv 11 news. >> a 16-month-old howard county baby is back home tonight after she was abducted by a friend of her mother's. police say 16-month-old kayden king-gaymon was abducted from her home in columbia. she was found at the home of a relative, 23-year-old tiara money-williams. she is being charged with child deduction. a baltimore county woman is being treated for serious injuries after she was assaulted by two men who broke into her home. authorities say she jumped from a second story window to save her own life.

rob roblin has the details. >> of marchetti police said the victim told them that two men forced their way -- baltimore county police say the victim told them that two men forced their way into her home and assaulted her. news of this morning's home invasion is frightening to neighbors. >> it worries me. i live across the streets. >> it is shocking. i don't know if there has been a spike in crime in the area. usually we receive a call saying something is going on in the area. this will be the second incident like this since i have lived here. >> sometime before 8:00 a.m., police say two men forced their way into this town house, assaulting a woman who was the only person in the house at the time. >> they forced their way into the home and there's a confrontation inside the home. the victim did suffer injuries and she was transferred to shock trauma. >> according to a neighbor, the

woman was able to get away from the assailants on enough to jump out of a second story window, injuring her ankle in the process. she knocked on her neighbor's door asking for help. >> the young lady knocked on our door screaming and hollering. she said someone just broke kept demanding money. they hit her with a crowbar, and she jumped out the window, and the suspects ran. >> the victim was taken to shock trauma with serious injuries. >> of commerce city police hebei computer-generated sketch will help identify a sexual assault suspect. -- baltimore city police hope a computer-generated sketch will help identify a suspect. if you recognize this man, you are asked to call metro crimestoppers.

>> a 28-year-old harford county man is in critical condition at shock trauma tonight. police say gerard michael brown was shot in the chester around 10:30 p.m. wednesday. there is no word on a possible suspect or motive. a man was rushed to the hospital after a brazen afternoon shooting in southwest baltimore. officers were called just after 3:00 this morning to the 700 block of north brantley street. >> residence in one baltimore neighborhood are on high alert after shooting this morning, the latest in a string of violent crimes in charles village. >> war concerning news for folks who live here in charles village tonight. earlier this morning at around 6:00, a man was shot during an attempted robbery in the 2600 block of st. paul and st., less than half a block from where

hopkins researcher steven pitcairn was stabbed and killed. police say the victim did everything in the suspect asked him to do, and he still was shot. police activity in the 2600 block of st. paul street thursday morning, investigators looking for clues after a 22- year-old man was shot while leaving a friend's house just after 6:00. the victim gave what little valuable he had, and the suspect still shot him in the groin and then fled in a dark colored sedan. >> it is very frustrating for us. we rant about this senseless gun violence week after week. it is cases like this that get us very concerned and frustrated. >> the shooting happened just feet away from where steven pitcairn was stabbed and killed in 2010.

just days ago, police say a student at johns hopkins was sexually assaulted off campus. back in august, a burglar broke into a home on guilford avenue and stabbed a man in the face to confronted him inside. >> any time this happens, it causes some alarm. >> towson carl stokes says thursday's shooting does raise concern, but for the most part, charles village is a safe area. >> by and large, this is a very safe area. the reason that an incident that happened a couple of times of year get so much attention is because it is infrequent that these incidents happened. >> residents seem to be taking the shooting in stride. >> i lived in this area for 11 years. crime is everywhere, so what can we do about it? >> i have been here for a long time, so i feel safe, i guess.

tonight, clear and chilly, 50 at the inner harbor and the sun is about to go down at 6:42. the growing season is coming to an end just to our north. not quite that cold here, but with clear skies and calm winds under the strong area of high pressure, there will be some temperatures in the upper 30's in some areas. well up into the 8's as close as chicago. they are now 79. st. louis at 82 degrees. as we get past tomorrow and into the upcoming weekend, expect the numbers on our thermometer to inch closer to the 80-degree mark. a beautiful friday, sunny skies, and highs of 70-75. the bay water temperatures in the mid to upper 60's.

you definitely need a jacket at night out in the mountains, but nice and sunny during the day around 70 degrees. eastern shore locations,:the morning and pleasant in the afternoon. stretch that out into sunday and monday, with temperatures getting into the low 80's on the eastern shore. ocean city will be a little cooler ride on the beach. tropical storm philippe is beginning to stretch away from bermuda. it got a lot stronger today, up to 85 mile an hour winds. that system is expected to be pushed out into the atlantic and slowly weaken, moving directly away from bermuda for the next couple of days and moving toward the north atlantic. hurricane season goes all the way through the end of november, so it might not be the last storm we will see.
