defendants middle river home. 36-year-old jason roose is charged with first-degree murder. prosecutors are using gps tracking to prove that he met with her, i've got her to his house, killed her, and then burned her body in an incinerator. the prosecutor's assistant told jurors that people do not vanish without a trace. he thought he committed the perfect crime. two things he did not count on, technology and her family that would not let her disappear. >> speculation, -- the defense attorney said there was speculation and conjecture. he claimed there was no proof that michele battle is dead. there is nobody. no proof that jason grow committed murder.

there is no forensic evidence, nothing. late thursday afternoon to my jurors watched the interview with jason roose, in which he says the first time he talked to michelle battle was the day she died. he said the last time he talked where she was taking a bus on her way to meet him. he was supposed to meet her at a bar near his home. he said she never showed up. >> he told police that he wanted to meet her in a public place just in case she was a juvenile. she said she had told him she was in your 20's. -- in her 20's. >> tonight, prosecutors have announced indictments of gang members elected to have been involved in gun crimes all across the state. >> in all, 35 people were

arrested as part of the indictment. officials say their criminal activities stretch from western maryland to the eastern shore and the details of the activity has been outlined in this 135- page affidavit. surrounded by law enforcement officials from all over the state, the u.s. attorney announced the federal indictment of 35 alleged it members of these outside brim gang. they are facing weapons charges and criminal activity across the state. they have been linked to murders, shootings, home invasions, and drug trafficking. there is a complex hierarchy of organization inside the group and officials say the secretary, whose job it was to handle day- to-day activity like membership dues and sending out electronic and written communication, has also been arrested. the frederick police say they are grateful. >> there are out there putting

their lives on the line. these are some dangerous people we are talking about. it will have a huge impact on the quality of life and of crime in the city effort. i thank all my partners. >> if you get involved in gang activity, you will make it on our list. >> the u.s. attorney's office said there was an unprecedented amount of cooperation between local, state and federal agents to help crack this case. >> there are new developments in the case of a missing 11-year- old boy whose mother was found murdered. late this afternoon, police have found the car in the amber alert and later arrested curtis lopez in charlotte, north carolina. the 11-year-old william mcquain is still missing. lopez was mcquain's husband and the boy's stepfather. he was last -- the boy was last seen in germantown on september

that he was responsive to these questions. is facing charges that he lied. they maintain he was taking potent drugs winnie -- against a form of prostate cancer that was an aggressive bidder and that caused him to give the wrong answers because he was fuzzy. he's accused of involvement with a liquor license in his district. he was asked if he had any contact with members of the prince george's board. he responded that he had no contact. the officer recalled him saying that its only involvement was for minority efforts. numerous documents reveal phone calls between the senator and

the grocer. there also notes that read reduced rent for the grocer. although there was a category for individual consulting and a more general one from outside employment, the agent said currie did not list anything. the defense asked an intriguing question without offering any details. they suggested currie may not have filled out the forms himself. >> the former secretary of transportation also testified, saying currie never disclosed his relationship with shoppers when he suggested a potential grant for shoppers. when asked by the defense whether currie's involvement a difference, he said he personally never saw the merits

before the grant. >> two people aren't being treated for burns at johns hopkins university -- are being treated for burns at johns hopkins university. there were working on an hvac system when they were suddenly blasted with steam. their injuries are considered non life-threatening. the accent is still under investigation. >> taxes, jobs, and the economy laid the groundwork at baltimore city hall. the debate over the bottle tax is on. critics want to pull the plug on the bottle tax early, but the city says it cannot afford to lose the money. jayne miller has more. >> this is much the same as the national debate about jobs and taxes and budget deficits. critics argue the bonnell tax is a job killer. the city says it is needed to reduce the deficit.

>> the coca-cola bottling plant in east baltimore is one of the city's few remaining manufacturers. the plant manager told a city council hearing today that the plant's business is threatened by a broad tax that went into effect in july of 2010. for -- a possible tax that went into effect in july of 2010. >> my business is down here significantly, and damour in baltimore than other places. >> a supermarket in east baltimore said the impact of the tax has cost him $500,000 in sales and seven positions, even though his store does not have the tax on to consumers. >> some people just have it in their head. >> i've had it with the city. we have to tax here and there. . i am done. >> he told the council sales are up in the county, down in the city. >> we need to get back to where

11. >> and now, your 11 insta- weather plus forecast with chief meteorologist tom tasselmyer. >> for most of maryland has just been light rain, drizzle, sprinkled throughout the afternoon. temperature kind of held in check by low pressure. thunderstorms are developing and son -- some of them have been severe. pushing into montgomery county, that showers are weakening on their track into the north, more stable air across maryland. but they may have enough to get into parts of montgomery, howard, anne arundel, and p.g. counties. working its way to the sea as well. it has been a bit of a rough afternoon and early evening. conditions may be favorable for tornadoes to develop. that is for hertford county all the way of to the pennsylvania line.

the main threat is writing here, howard and p.g. counties. south and west of baltimore toward d.c. that read shaded area is a strong thunderstorm warning -- red-shaded area is a strong thunderstorm warning. up here, it looks like scattered light rain showers for the time being. about a quarter inch of rain at the airport, just over a 10th of an inch at the inner harbor. late-day readings have been highs for the day. the warm air out of the carolinas this trend -- trying to nudge into central maryland. 70's across the lower eastern shore of the way to baltimore. that is the forecast for the next few hours, scattered showers and isolated strong thunderstorms to our south, and temperatures holding in the 60's overnight.

the front has draped across the region and another cold front is approaching from the midwest. this one will roll through tomorrow and what to get out of here, high pressure comes in nicely behind it. the weekend is still looking pretty nice. we have to get past that second front. a couple of showers in the morning, maybe a thunderstorm in the afternoon, and then rapidly clearing skies tomorrow night. we should have clear skies for the baltimore run on saturday morning, but increasing the windy throughout the day. just a few scattered clouds on sunday. good football weather, too. we just have to get through tomorrow's showers and storms. other than that, a mild day, 70-75. once the front goes by, west/south west winds gusting up to 20 miles per hour on the day. there's a small craft advisory. gusty winds and high on saturday

in western maryland around 50. 30 saturday night. dry conditions in the mountains on sunday. lower eastern shore, the same basic forecast, scattered storms mawr, lots of sunshine for the upcoming weekend. and for the runners in the marathon, great weather in the morning, but increasingly windy in the afternoon with highs in the 60's. good football weather on sunday, partly cloudy. maybe sprinkle on monday. nice on tuesday before a rapid cool down next week. >> injuries remain a concern for the ravens and the houston texans for sending and -- sunday's game. texas injuries stack up on their offense. andre johnson and kevin walter did not practice today.
