>> this is wbal 11:00 news tonight. >> nearly a half dozen people injured after a drive-by shooting in baltimore county. good evening, everyone. police say the gunman opened fire about 4:00 this afternoon after a fight in turner station. we have the latest. >> the case is still under investigation but baltimore county police think it may have started here at the fleming community center. >> this is where a fight broke out around 4:30 in eventually spilled out on to the street. a short time later police say a

man drove by and opened fire on several people. four were hospitalized. three with gunshot wounds and another with a leg injury. all are expected to be ok. the gunman took off in a car and police don't have a description of him or the vehicle. as police spent the evening combing through the area for more evidence. this woman said she's not shocked by their prenls. >> it's the crazy but something that usually happens around here. >> the woman says the neighborhood is changing for the worse and says she's most concerned for the children who live in the area. >> very upsetting. >> who's that? >> because in that particular block there is a lot of kids. that is the danger. a lot of kids out here playing. >> the baltimore county violent crimes team is investigating the case. if you have any information please call baltimore county police. >> tonight a baltimore county father wants answers into the

disappearance of his teenage son. family members say 18-year-old ryan jackson was last seen on wednesday in the 700 block of rambo court. authorities say police were called to the same location saturday night to investigate a suspicious condition. >> we can't pinpoint exactly what happened to him but we know that something is wrong. because we've been calling his cell phone for the last three days and it just rolls over to the answering machine. >> police have not linked saturday's investigation to jackson's disappearance. new tonight, a man is recovering after a shooting in northeast baltimore. the victim was shot in the stomach around 5:30 this evening in the 700 block of homestead. the search for the gunman continues. police are trying to figure out how a woman's body ended up in a downtown dumpster.

the victim, believed to be in her 20's, was found on charles street in a dumpster. an amber alert remains in affect -- effect for 11-year-old william mcquain who's been missing for two weeks. a search of two montgomery parks turned up nothing today. his mother was beaten and stabbed to death inside her germantown home last week, her estranged husband charged in her murder. a special session of the maryland general assembly convenience tomorrow. tops on the agenda, a new congressional redistricting map unveiled over the weekend. >> record their presence. >> a special session of the maryland general assembly is being called to tackle what's become the thorny issue of congressional redistricting.

maryland's eight federal legislative maps are being redrawn to reflect population shifts and changes based on the 2010 consensus. this is what they came up and it's universely hated. governor o'mollry plans to unveil a tweaked plan. it takes aim at republican roscoe bartlett's sixth district making it more difficult for him to get re-elected. bartlett is on the record in opposition. democrats from the washington suburbs don't like it either. representative donna edwards believes -- believes it dilutes minority voting power by splitting it into three districts. the third district looks like a z and also hugs the coastline around annapolis. because gus rupen -- sits on the

committee, the map makes a detour to include his home. congresswoman's district would -- could become one of the strongest african-american districts in the country. overall, maryland republicans consider the approach jerry mannedering. several republican senators and delegates have come up with their own maps. all legislative proposals will get full hearings. the first hearing is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. and is expected to last into the evening. david collins, wbal. >> and the governor also plans to hold a press conference tomorrow outlining the details of his jobs birblings aspects of which will be introduced during the 2012 session of the general

evening. a little warmer in parts of the bay. even in the mountains tots west, tempts -- temperatures in the 60's. a nice breeze that's holding the temperatures up to some extent. readings where all that rain is down in the 50's this evening. here's the satellite radar image combined. the generally clear skies over us, a few scattered showers. thicker in this rain, which extends west into ohio. this will sink through the area and the front that's associated with that eventually will wind up south of us later in the day on monday. here's the low and the front coming through and it's actually the cold front that will come through in the morning hours on monday and then kind of settle in this virginia and stall out. so it will never really get into the really chilly air and the front will always be close to us over the next few days.

then another storm will develop out to the west and pull all this tropical moisture up. so by the middle of the week -- periods of clouds overnight tonight. 49 to 55 the overnight low. west to southwest winds at five so -- to 10. the fureb cast shows how that rain diminishes by about 6:00 a.m. but there might be still enough in there that we'll catch a sprinkle or something before it's all over then we'll dry out the rest of the day, although by the end of the daymond we begin to see more clouds. a mix of clouds and sun on monday. 6 to 73 the high. and depending on how many clouds or how much sun breaks through depends on whether he see the 70's or stay stuck in the 60's. the bay water temperatures in the 60's. watch what happens. as we go into tuesday we start

seeing more clouds and then by the end of the day tuesday all that moisture starts coming up from the south. a lot of it as we go into wednesday. so we have some very rainy weather hide ahead. 71 on monday, almost 71 on tuesday. a sprinkle early monday and looks like most of the day tuesday will be dry. wednesday is the big rain day. could be over an inch of rain with that. thursday the front goes through. we start to dry out. only 59 for the high and in the 50's on friday and cool over the weekend too. >> just last month we enjoyed the incredible texas tech ackle of indycar racing here in baltimore but in las vegas sunday we were reminded of the gambles drivers take racing at over 200 miles per hour. 33-year-old dan wheldon, twice an indianapolis 500 winner, including this year, died in a fiery crash.

just 11 laps into the rails in vegas a crash in the middle of the pack caused carnage all over. 15 cars involved. dan wheldon's number 77 carp went airborne, upside down and into the catch fence. wheldon, a husband, father of two small children remembered as a great friend. >> i lost, we lost a good friend. i think everybody in indycar series considered dan a friend. i mean, you saw the reaction. he's one of those special, special people. >> speeds during practice reached more than 225 miles per hour and drivers said they were concerned. rather than finish the race, a slow five-lap tribute to dan wheldon was the finish. the ravens wrap up on the way. despite the hiccups they delivered when it counted. a full dissection minutes away. first, john back with a last check on the forecast.
