a car, wounded, and put down by authorities. it has been a gruesome roundup for deputies, ever since tuesday night, when they discovered menagerie mayhem. >> we had an hour to an hour and half of daylight when we arrived on the scene. officers found animals running loose outside of the fenced area. >> the animals included banco tigers, leopards, lions, leopards, wolves, and monkeys. schools in the area are closed and warning signs are on the roads. >> there is a bear and a lion out. >> the owner of the farm released them all, and even disabled their cages to make sure they could not be used again, then committed suicide. >> i honestly believe he did not feel he needed to live any longer. it is sad. >> the sheriff's said his

the man forced her inside, and she had to climb up wooden scraps to escape and get help. neighbors say they are worried he will attack again. how does a 23-year-old woman who graduated with honors from loyola university end up dead at the bottom of a trash chute at the park charles apartment? >> that is what people are asking after emily hauze s body was found sunday. this is the same trash chute where another body was found last year. >> unfortunately, no definitive answers yet, but according to emily hauze's linkedin profile, she graduated from loyola university last year and has been working as a reading teacher since. it is a mystery how she ended up in a dumpster. three days later and still no answers in the death of emily

hauze. her body was found at a trash chute at the park trawls apartment. this is the second body found in the same spot in just over a year. last august, a man's body was found there. the medical examiner ruled the cause of death as undetermined, but said he died from multiple injuries. that case has remained open, but police did not suspect foul play. after the discovery of emily hauze's body, police say they have no plans to revisit that case. a resident invited us to see the trash chute. they do not see how a person could accidentally fall down. do you think it could have been an accident? >> i do not think so. you could not fall inside it. it is nearly impossible. >> i think it is really hard for anybody to accidentally fall in

call baltimore police. tonight, the montgomery county state attorney may consider the death penalty against a man charged of killing his estranged wife. curtis lopez is also suspected in the death of his stepson. the body was found yesterday. his mother was found stabbed to death in her home. >> baltimore county police are trying to determine why they say a woman stabbed her boyfriend late tuesday night. it happened just before midnight along the 300 block of lord byron lane. the man is expected to recover. he was taken to sinai hospital. his girlfriend is behind bars on assault charges. all lanes are clear on the beltway after three accidence snarled traffic for much of the morning, one involving five cars. baltimore county police are still investigating the accident. the five-car accident did cause

the governor pay for redistricting map. >> the state voted in favor of the new boundaries yesterday. >> the house passed the measure 91-46. all the republicans voted against it. that is not a surprise. five democrats joined them. >> republicans standing in opposition to the governors redistricting map offered a few amendments, but they all failed. the congressional boundaries would have created three minority-majority districts. it preserved the republican- leaning sixth district. >> the district in baltimore city -- compact, contiguous. a very good map. >> republicans emphasized how their plan created more minority representation. this prompted a challenge by an african american delicate. "we will see how concerned you are when other minority issues

faked malnutrition inpatients and improperly billed medicare. the lawsuit seeks $1.60 million for each false claim. the university of virginia medical system says the organization has been in discussion with prosecutors for how it coded patients with normal attrition. >> the fda says that deadly list area outbreak in cantaloupes was probably caused by pools of water on the floor and hard to clean packing equipment at a colorado farm. they say contamination at the farm is likely to blame for the outbreak that killed 25 people and sickened 123 more. the fda says jensen farms had recently purchased a used equipment that was corroded and hard to clean. the u.s. is making headway in reducing the cost of heart failure over a decade, trading

risks like hypertension. it has led to hospital stays fallen by 30%, saving billions of dollars. there are several types of heart pumps, but a device currently up for fda approval could help small children as well. eric edwards has the story. >> and bobby arnold has seen more than his fair share of doctors, going with a heart defect that causes -- that requires three surgeries to fix, but his little heart could only handle the first two. doctors put bobby on the transplant list, where most children wait for months for a donor heart, but most of these young patients do not have that time. doctors have had to put children on an invasive machine that act like a heart and lungs. >> these are children confined to bed on a ventilator, heavily sedated and on a blood thinner, with a technology that is only

good for a week or two. >> it does not help them prepare for major surgery. this doctor is the head of pediatric heart surgery at duke hospital. he was part of a clinical trial for a part that takes over. patients with the pumpkin stay on it -- with the pump can stay on it for weeks, and can move around. this is the only device available to treat children waiting for a new heart, but it is not fda-approved. doctors have to get permission from the agency each time they want to use the heart in a child. they have the device flown in from germany. bobby had the berlin heart implanted in february and was healthy enough to have a transplant in march. >> without it, he would not have lived. >> not only is he living -- he is thriving.
