pulse 11. >> the alleged triggerman in the murder for hire plot against the owner of a towson gas station is set to begin this morning. >> lowell melser is live in towson with that story. >> walter bishop is the second person to go on trial in this case for the murder of william porter who was killed at his gas station. it was last december when seamus coyle was the first person convicted. the murder happened march 1 of last year. according to records, carla in to help with porter the murder. police say there was no record to back up the abuse charge. investigators put the case together using cell phone records and closed circuit television. >> we look at cameras all throughout baltimore county and

other businesses to re-create and again connect the dots of the activities of these individuals. >> the murder took place in baltimore county. the case will now take place in harford county in bel air. lowell melser, wbal-tv 11 news. >> one person is dead after a crash in the fells point area overnight. police were called to the intersection of south broadway and bank street. several people were trapped and needed to be pulled out by rescue crews. no word on the condition of the other victims or what may of cost the crash. >> a baltimore county jury has convicted a man for murder despite the fact that the victim's body has never been found. jason gross has been found guilty in the murder of rochelle battle.

ryan jackson inside his home and then dumped the body in south baltimore. authorities say they found blood evidence as well as jackson's wallet inside a trash bags inside horton's home. police have so far not determined a motive for the murder. >> senseless. this is crazy. >> horton is supposed to be under supervised supervision. >> the search continues for work shot and killed a man in the milford mill neighborhood. a man was found dead inside a car just after 11:00 p.m. on wednesday night after some might notice that the car was parked illegally and called police. >> yesterday he was an honors

student. this morning mohammad hassan khalid is a terrorist. prosecutors alleged he and another suspect had been using the internet to try to recruit people to wage holy war for the past three years. he was arrested back in july. the crime carries a 15-year prison sentence. >> libyans around the world are celebrating a new beginning. but the big question is what happens now. kate amara joins us live with that story. >> the next big step is expected on saturday when the interim leaders declared the entire country liberated. as libyans continue to celebrate the death of ousted leader muammar gaddafi -- >> we are so happy. it's a great -- greatest moment in all my life. >> there are concerns about the future of the country. gaddafi was killed thursday after being captured by

a mixture of sun and clouds. in the mountains, you guys could see some rain showers. it will be dry around baltimore. >> thank you. opening statements are expected to get underway this morning in a baltimore county murder for hire trial. >> this case has gone so much attention. lowell melser is in towson with more details on the story. >> walter bishop is now the second person to go on trial in this case. this is for the murder of william porter who was killed at the gas station he owned in towson. seamus coyle was the first person convicted in this case back in september. while mourners paid their respects to gas station owner william porter last march, police were closing in on his alleged killers. police say on the morning of march 1, he was shot in the head inside of his business. >> in the days to follow, we

were led to a scheme involving miss porter, who in fact arranged for the death of her husband. >> police say carla porter enlisted her family members to help. court records show carla porter told her nephew seamus coyle that she was having problems with her husband. coyle told her that he had someone to take care of that problem, and that was trigger man walter bishop, who goes on trial today. charging documents say she paid bishop $9,000 to kill william porter. porter's sister susan gave bishop the gun. and carla porter's brother calvin moyer drove bishop and another defendant, matthew brown, to the gas station. police say cell phone records and closed-circuit television helped unravel the scheme. police say at the time, the gas station's closed-circuit system was not active. >> we look at cameras all throughout baltimore county and other businesses to re-create and again connect the dots of the activities of these individuals. >> still, the question remains why carla porter wanted her

husband dead and why her family members were willing to help. according to court documents, a witness told police porter asked him to kill her husband back in december because he was abusive. police say they have no records of being called to the house for domestic violence. there are no court records indicating abuse. the murder took place here in baltimore county, because of a change in venue, bishop's case will now take place in harford county in the city of bel air. lowell melser, wbal-tv 11 news. >> the senate has failed to push forward any part of president obama's jobs bill. the vote ended 10 votes short. the president said the move was unacceptable. mitch mcconnell blamed democrats for blocking republican compromise. republicans say the plan would raise taxes and hurt the economy.

as the state legislature is back at work on a redistricting plan. this week's hearings and meetings have been steeped in debate as democrats argue the new map reflects changing demographics in maryland's suburbs, while republicans insist redrawing our voting districts is nothing but party politics. besides politics, race is being pulled into the debate as state republicans and several minority groups remain dissatisfied with the lack of minority-majority districts. regardless of how the lines get drawn, members of both parties concede that redistricting is a pleasure afforded the majority. that sentiment sums what is broken about the political process right now. our elected officials serve at the pleasure of the voter. so, what is the voters' agenda should not be lost in any debate. in our state capital and in our nation's capital, the appearance of party politics has most constituents convinced they have been left out of the equation -- be it voter districts or a federal jobs bill. right now, we need our elected leaders focused on the issues
