march and investigators say walter bishop pulled the trigger. bishop is now the second person to go on trial for this murder. we have more on what we can expect from today's proceedings. >> while mourners paid their respects to gas station owner william porter last march, police were closing in on his killer. he was shot in the head inside his business. >> in the days that followed, we were led to a scheme involving miss porter, who in fact arranged for the death of her husband. >> police say carl porter invested her family members -- carla porter in listed her family members to help. the trigger man was walter bishop, who goes on trial today. documents say she paid bishop $9,000 to kill william porter.

her brother drove bishop and another defendant to the gas station. her sister gave him the gun. closed circuit television helped unravel the scheme, although police say at the time of the closed circuit system at the gas station was not active. >> there are cameras all throughout baltimore county and other businesses that help recreate and connect the dots between these individuals. >> police do not know why miss porter wanted her husband dead and why family members were willing to help. police say they have no records of being called to the house for domestic violence and there are no court records indicating abuse. >> although the murder took place in baltimore county, the trial venue was changed and it will now be held in hartford county.

meanwhile, a man has been charged with murder even though the body has never been found. chasing gross is accused of killing rochelle battle, who he met in a chat room. using cell phone records and multiple contradictory police interviews, prosecutors managed to overcome the fact that they never found battle's body. >> we ask him time after time to explain because it looked like they met. each time he lied. we tracked him. >> it was not one piece of evidence. it was putting together a puzzle and every piece of that puzzle pointed to one result. >> defense attorneys say they plan to appeal the verdict. a man is in custody this afternoon, charged in the murder of a baltimore team, ryan jackson. jackson's girlfriend reported him missing last week. she told police he may have been at the home of larry portman.

with the death of muammar gaddafi confirmed, more details are coming out about who killed him and how he died. with the new video service in showing that gaddafi was captured alive, the u.n. human rights office is calling for a full investigation into his death. we have the latest from libya. >> things finally started to quiet down late last night and they stayed quiet until this morning. we're hearing that rebel forces are still in gaddafi's home town where he was captured yesterday and we believe killed. rebel forces say they are making sure there are no more gaddafi loyalists in town and they are going through every block, every street, inch by inch, slowly. >> he killed a lot of people and he deserved what he got in the end. >> it is believed that gaddafi's body is still here in misrata.

meanwhile, the president wrapped up his three-day bus tour, raising support for the jobs plan in virginia. meantime, a little bit of positive news for maryland workers. the state managed to add 10,000 private-sector jobs this month. that means the private sector job growth rate is five times the national growth rate. compared to the august jobs numbers, nearly 60,000 more maryland residents were employed in september. covering the nation this afternoon, court records show the owner of an animal preserve who killed himself after freeing his animals was deeply in debt. he and his wife owed at least $68,000 in unpaid taxes. he also had two federal tax liens filed against him last year. in the meantime, six animals that were rescued from the couples, are currently being cared for at the zoo and an aquarium.

least around baltimore. faugh it is -- it is barely out of the 40's up near the pennsylvania line. winds are gusting up to 20 m.p.h., so it feels even clearer than that. if you're heading out this afternoon, take a jacket. 21 in annapolis. winds will be diminishing as we head into late afternoon and evening hours, but it will still be pretty windy at least in the early afternoon. clouds have started to develop over the last couple of hours as well. from baltimore on south and east, skies are clear. down near the lower eastern shore counties, you have plenty of sunshine, same in southern maryland. we are seeing some snowflakes in higher elevations. it is difficult to see here. there are some rain showers out in carry county, some light rain around pittsburgh at the present time.
