leaders say they will declare liberation tomorrow a move that will start the countdown to elections. >> gaddafi's body is still here and still in that commercial freezer for the second day running. the public is being allowed to view it. the family is demanding that the body be returned to them. but members of the interim government appear to be divided over to do with the body. both the u.n. and the u.s. have weighed in. the u.n. is calling for an investigation and the u.s. is asking for a full accounting how he died. nato which launched the air strike which prevented georgia zaffy from escaping said it's going to end its operations here next weekend. celebrations are continuing through the weekend and hoping to buildup for tomorrow when the members here, the senior leaders of the transitional council will formally declare the liberation

of libya. back to you. >> thank you. the death of gaddafi could speed up the return home of baltimore journalist van dyke. his mom said matthew went to libya to witness history and ended up in prison and then fighting alongside the rebels. we are live in federal hill with more. >> van dyke's mother said he is doing well and could be back home here in federal hill in the next couple of weeks or so. not long after gaddafi was killed by rebel forces, she was on the phone. >> i asked him what was going on and i could hear gunfire and shooting into the air, a lot of noise, fireworks, men chanting. it was a different noise. it was a noise of joy. and matthew was very upbeat himself, very excited. >> matthew left for libya in february to witness the

uprisings taking place and in march he was imprisoned for five months. once released in august, he decided to stay. this loyalty stemmed from the way matthew was raised to follow through with a commitment. >> i said once he was released from prison when i was instilling in him that value as he was growing up, i was referring to maybe playing sports for one season and don't quit in the middle of the season, i didn't have in mind fighting a war in another country. >> she said he sounds like he is in good spirits. all she is focused now is his homecoming. >> van dyke plans to spend time in cairo before coming back to baltimore. once he is back, his mom says they have a lot of people to thank. >> one man is dead after an

early morning accident on interstate 70 which happened at 2:30 this morning. state police said the 26-year-old nemes was killed when his s.u.v. was cut off by a tractor trailer. the s.u.v. slid under the big rig. he died at the scene. no word if the truck driver will face any charges. police continue their search for answers after an apparent murder-suicide. investigators say a family member found john sigmond and his wife inside their home yesterday afternoon. we are told both died of a gunshot wound and not clear what prompted the shooting or who fired the shot. neighbors are still in shock. >> i didn't think that that would be possible with these two people. they were really good, kind people. and it's just a very strange thing to even talk about. i mean, there is a whole lot more to it. >> detectives say there was a

it out but a week after troops pushed into somalia to attack militants. they carried out attacks in july which killed 76 people. president obama's announcement that all u.s. troops will be headed home from iraq before the end of the year is drawing mixed reaction from military families and from the candidates who want his job. here's brian moore. >> i can say that our troops in iraq will definitely be home for the holidays. >> president obama's decision to pull the last u.s. troops out of iraq is welcome news for military spouses. >> it's great and for the troops to be home. >> a sentiment he can echoed by veterans. >> we are losing family members for no reason. >> veterans in iraq and afghanistan, they have met every challenge throughout this entire war. >> but there are questions, whether the mission really is

sunny skies to start the day. the clouds kept temperatures down, but the good news, there was no rain. current temperatures, downtown, 60 degrees. airport, 56. annapolis, 58. and way out west, they are doing pretty good, too. 50 in frostburg. the rest of the evening, you are going to need a jacket if you are heading out on the town. becoming partly cloudy as the evening goes on. light winds at five miles an hour. 46 to 42 degrees. a frost advisory for some areas. our current weather right now shows some cloud cover over our area and that's because of a disturbance in the northeast of us and upper level, so the moisture is trapped there and that's what's causing that cloud deck right now. as soon as the low moves off in the next several hours, those

clouds will lift and we will be under partly cloudy conditions. we are keeping an eye on this very weak cold front that will make its way through our area on monday, could bring a spotty shower here and there. but way out west, there is a disturbance up here that could bring us some rain come wednesday and thursday. we'll keep an eye on that. here's what we are talking about as far as the freeze and frost warnings. for the western portion of the state. national weather service has issued a freeze advisory for the greater baltimore area starting at 2:00 a.m. tonight through 9:00 a.m. in the morning. doesn't mean we will have a frost, but if you have plants, you may want to cover or bring them in so they don't get damaged or die. if you are heading out tomorrow in the morning, brisk conditions under partly cloudy skies. 40 degrees and then at noon, we get up to 60 and by the evening, as long as we don't get too many

>> this is a wbal tv editorial from the president and general manager. >> annapolis was once again cloaked in political bickering with the state legislator back at work on a redistricting plan. these meetings were steeped in debate as democrats argued that it reflects changing demographics while republicans insisted is nothing but party politics. besides politics, race is being pulled into the debate as state g.o.p.ers and several minority groups remain dissatisfied with the districts. regardless of how the lines get drawn, both parties concede that this is afforded the majority. that sentiment about what is broken about the political process right now. our elected officials serve at the pleasure of the voter so the voters' agenda should not be lost in any debate. it's our state capital and in our nation capital, the appearance of party politics has most constituents convinced that
