finding a 43-rolle woman beaten to death inside of this home in the 900 block of east 41st street. her family obviously devastated over this murder. >> i am not sure as to what happened here. all i know is that what did happen here, whoever did this needs to come forward. >> alex canty, almost at a loss for words after his son found his wife dead inside their home in the 900 block of east 41st street. >> everyone in this block love my wife, wherever she is at. she helps everybody. she does not mind stepping in to help people. she did not deserve this at all. >> police say was around 5:30 monday night when they got the 911 call. she was found with severe trauma to her head and would end up dying on the scene.

neighbors told police she ran a small candy store out of her home for the children in the neighborhood. police are not sure of a motive because there was no sign of forced entry. >> we just don't know if she was targeted or if it was some sort of argument that escalated, or if it was an attempted robbery. >> her family is baffled as well, saying she had no enemies and was a positive member of her community. >> i have never known her to have a beef with anyone. >> police still don't have much to go on. if you think he can help, you should call baltimore city homicide. lowell melser, wbal-tv 11 news. >> baltimore county police are investigating an early morning home invasion in dundalk. investigators say around 2:00 a.m., three men armed with a handgun broke into a home. a 20-rolle man was at home at the time and was attacked by one of the suspects before he fled the scene with cash, jewelry,

and electronics. police believe the home was targeted and it is not a random act. baltimore county police are asking for help as they search for it to back armed robbers. investigators say the men in these photos both displayed handguns. authorities are looking for two men in their 20s, each about 5 feet 10 inches tall and one had a heart shaped tattoo under his left eye. you were asked to call metro crimestoppers if you have any information about this case. >> woman accused of hiring walter bishop jr. testified at bishop's trial today. defense attorneys trying to show carl porter was relentless in trying to find someone to commit the murder. barry simms is live in bellaire tonight. >> carl porter is expected to go on trial next year. she did take the witness stand

today but did not tell jurors very much about her alleged role in the death of her husband. accused of setting up a murder for hire scheme, carla porter is taken back to the baltimore county detention center after testifying in a baltimore court room. defense attorneys for walter bishop jr. called her as a witness. they are trying to prove to the jury that carla porter pitch -- pressured bishop into killing her husband. william ray porter was shot three times and had. the defense attorney tried to ask carla porter questions about the murder, including, were you married to william ray porter? she said i plead the fifth. when asked, did you participate in a conspiracy to have william ray porter murdered? she again answered, i plead the fifth. jurors heard from matthew brown, who has already pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

he also invoked the fifth amendment when asked about his involvement in the killing, as did her nephew. daniel blackwell also testified he is the former boyfriend of carlo porter's the daughter megan. he said that she kept asking him to kill her husband, saying how much would it take just for you to kill him? would $10,000 do it? he took it as a joke. he asked -- said she asked him about getting someone to knock him off. the jury also heard from her daughter, meghan porter. she testified her mother was being abused by her father but pleaded the fifth amendment when asked if she conspired with her mother to have her father killed. her attorney would not comment as he and his clients -- as she and her client left the court room.

tomorrow the defense plans to call one of the other co- defendants, carlo porter's sister, who has already been convicted of first-degree murder for her involvement in the crime. barry simms, wbal-tv 11 news. >> the jury selection resumes today in the murder trial for a woman charged with killing a co- worker in a bethesda shop. she is accused of attacking 30- year-old jane murray inside the store and then tying herself up to make it appear as if they had been attacked by intruders. the trial is expected to last about eight days want to get underway in montgomery county circuit court. >> charges for indecent exposure. he says he was urinating, but the 25-year-old victim has a different story. she tells investigators engaged in a lewd act near her window in pasadena. the school was not open on the day of the incident and no

children were around when it happened. a harford county community remains on edge tonight as police search for the person who reportedly tried to lure a teenage boy into a van early monday morning. the 14-year-old was heading toward a bus stop when he says a black man with dark tinted windows pulled up and a man threatened to hurt him if he didn't get inside. anyone who can help in this investigation is urged to call the harford county sheriff's office. >> rescuers continue to search for signs of survivors tonight underneath all the rubble and southeastern turkey. >> it has now been two days since the 7.2 magnitude quake hit, and people are still being pulled out alive from the rubble. hours after a two-week old infant was pulled alive from the rubble, rescuers were able to free her mother from the same platen building. the mother had been pent next to -- the father was also

trapped in the rubble but it was unclear if he survived. >> hundred still missing and thousands are displaced from their homes, turning panic into anger for many. people grabbed for blankets and other surprise. survivors say there is not enough aid or shelter. a tent city has been set up at a stadium and as many as 15 family members are sleeping in one small tent. the death toll is expected to rise. the bodies of the deceased are being taken to local mosques and families are now planning funerals. >> for ravens fans, last night's dismal performance on offense was tough to watch. >> gerry sandusky joins us live from owings mills tonight. the fans were left speechless over last night's performance. >> we have all had home paying projects there were more interesting than the ravens offense last night in

the mid and upper 6000 baltimore. currently 68 degrees in downtown baltimore. the futurecast shows a little bit of cloud cover coming in from the west over night. anywhere from clear at times to partly cloudy later this evening and chilly temperatures from 43 in the outlying suburbs to about 50 at the inner harbor. the wind has been brisk draft the afternoon. what is clear right now will become cloudy as we head into tomorrow. all associated with another part of the same front. the western end of it is redeveloping. low pressure over iowa will be tracking for the lakes and dragging this front in our direction. it looks like we will stay on the mild side for the next day or so, but once the front its past as, it will get chillfor friday into the upcoming weekend. tomorrow, increasing cloudiness and a better chance for a couple of light showers.

about a 20% chance around central maryland, slightly better chance in the western part of the state. it should remain dry during the day tomorrow on the lower eastern shore and down to the coast. on thursday as the front start dragging through the area, showers become more numerous and more likely. friday it looks like the system will get off the coast and clear out. we will see some sunshine and temperatures will drop heading into the end of the week. increasingly cloudy skies for the day tomorrow with scattered afternoon showers and a high of 66-71 with that southwest wind coming in at 6-12 miles per hour. water temperatures in the low 60's. western maryland has a good chance of some rain tomorrow. 59, and the showers will linger into thursday. western maryland will be wider than the central and eastern parts of the state. on thursday, the rain chances increase, and that includes the

eastern shore from elton down to cambridge. partly cloudy tomorrow, or clouds in the afternoon, 68, and then scattered showers, but only a 30% chance around ocean city on thursday. a late season hurricane to talk about. this is hurricane rina, a category 2 hurricane, not too far from cancun. it looks like it may be a problem for cancun in the next couple of days and perhaps her up towards south florida over the next two days. we will give you the official hurricane track for hurricane rina. here in baltimore, scattered showers possible late tomorrow into thursday. most of the day tomorrow looks dry and mild and then showers are likely on thursday. much cooler friday, and saturday temperatures may not get out of the upper part -- of the upper 40's. it looks like it will clear up in time for the ravens to come home and get back in the win

the south. some experts report it will continue, and more people might catch a glimpse four more nights to come. >> an explosion on the surface of the sun sends out what is called a car ronald massive injection. -- coronal gas injection. -- mass injection. it is the northern lights, farther south. last night it was strong enough to get down into the mid atlantic and the ohio valley. i don't think it will be out there tonight because the activity on the face of the sun has quieted down in the past 12 to 18 hours. we are in a period where sunspots are quite active. it could happen again. we will keep to alerted if we get notification that another

one of those sunspots' explodes like that again. today in baltimore, we had some nice sunshine. 68 degrees at the airport, 69 at the inner harbor. the normally 64. the record high today, not even up to 80 degrees. the warmest it has ever been on this particular day is below 80 degrees, so you know we are headed to cooler months. the record low was 28 in 1962. 2.22 inches is the most it ever rained on this day, and that goes back to 1862. a little bit of cloud cover is approaching from the north and west, but skies are mainly clear from baltimore down to ocean city. it warmed up nicely into the 60's to near 70. we are holding in a mild pattern. 63 in cambridge. around baltimore, just a couple of degrees warmer. tonight we will see a little more cloud cover coming in.

that might hold the temperature up a few degrees. 43-50 is the temperature spread by don was southwest winds at 5. the front stretching from i would down to parts of kansas into the southern rockies. that will be dragged across our region, but not until thursday. tomorrow, more clouds and maybe an afternoon shower. the farther west to go, the better chance you have of getting wet. the northern portions of the state will see a few scattered showers and the front will move off the coast and it should clear up nicely as we head into friday. behind that front, it will get chilly. afternoon showers are possible, but only a 20% chance around baltimore. they water temperatures are in a low 60's. in the tropics we still have to watch storms developing. this is a late season hurricane, hurricane rina sitting down

there in the caribbean just to the southeast of cancun by about 300 miles. winds up to 110. this is expected to be a category 3 hurricane moving toward the yucatan peninsula. the problem is this thing could turn up through the southern gulf and make its way toward the florida keys or south florida as we get into friday and saturday. it should be a lot weaker by then, but still, a major hurricane heading toward cancun and maybe going east toward the florida keys over the next four or five days. hurricane season does not officially end until the end of november. a 20% chance of a late afternoon shower tomorrow. 60% chance on thursday, clearing out, breezy, cool weather on friday. rain developing to the south and east on saturday. we have a 30% chance here saturday with a high of only 49. it doesn't like it will clear up

in time for the ravens on sunday. -- it does look like it will clear up in time for the ravens on sunday. >> the maryland emergency management agency is making federal aid available for baltimore city and baltimore county, adding them to the list of maryland jurisdictions that were cleared disaster areas. that means they can apply for funding for emergency services relating to the hurricane. the mill will funds and the 5% of the calls for eligible repair work. >> you might be able to cut your winter heating bill by as much as 5% this year. natural gas customers will be paying about 30% less to heat their homes this winter season.

the company expects a drop this year because winter is supposed to be less severe and demand for natural gas is dropping. officials predict the bill for those who heat their homes with electricity will also drop. prices could be stabilizing in some hard-hit portions of the country. the biggest drops in atlanta and los angeles. prices will likely fall again once banks resume foreclosures after delays. the office of the controller says the federal government will send letters informing some homeowners of their right to ask for review of possible mistakes and possible restitution of foreclosures. nearly four 0.5 million homeowners will get those letters starting next month.
