an engineer supper's a stroke and is forced to wait seven weeks before she can be flown out. the south pole researcher is in baltimore for treatment. to never franciotti is i -- jennifer franciotti is where the engineer it just tell the press conference. >> she suffered a stroke while working at a research station in antarctica. it is considered the wintertime and it made it impossible to attempt to rescue. she waited two months with basically no treatment before being evacuated. after initially being taken to new zealand on october 17, she chose to come to johns hopkins hospital for care. she is recovering well, says her doctor. the limelight is the last place she ever expected to begin -- to be. >> never had any intentions of this just exploding.

avenue and moravia road. the man was taken to johns hopkins hospital. no word on his condition. the deputy, a 10-year veteran, was not injured. city police are looking into an early-morning stabbing in west baltimore. the unidentified man was found on toward the street. he was taken to hospital, where he died of stab wounds. a city firefighter is recovering from minor burns he sustained in morning house fire. the blaze broke out at the 4200 block of the road around 9:00. all of the residents got out safely, but the first floor of the home suffered damage. it took about 20 minutes to bring the flames under control. no word on a cause. >> they said be careful what you wish for, all you cold weather fans out there. now look what you have done.
