up yet. this is the calm before the storm so to speak. rain chances continue to go up tonight. let's take a look at what we have right now. we are above freezing. that is where we are now. 48 degrees at the airport. at the science center down town is 51. it is in the '30's in far western maryland. it will not take much to take those temperatures down. the storm will be coming up from the south. it will move right up the coast. we have a batch of cold air in place. this cold air will stay in place. the storm will be flowing moisture at us right into the cold air. that is why we have a threat of snow. i will try to explain that. here is what the general picture looks like with the moisture

coming in. you see some of the clouds look like they're dropping from the north. that is the cold air. higher elevations is bringing moisture up from the south. initially it brings in moisture off of the atlantic. that will be the warmer air. he eventually as the storm polls for the north, the winds will swing around northwesterly and bring and reinforcing cold air. that is why we think this note will be in the latter portion of the storm. -- that is why we think snow will be in the latter portion of the storm. we may see a few sprinkles or light showers. it becomes more study after midnight until 3:00 a.m. or so. the breeze will pick up by daybreak. we say above freezing all night long. here in the baltimore metropolitan area. tomorrow rain and it ran snowbanks in baltimore. the changeover to that when you get north and west of us will

happen a little sooner. we are thinking in the metropolitan area, but the time the thing is all over saturday evening, two inches above the pennsylvania line and up to the west. more than that in the mountains. watch for snow north and west of the city. the purple areas is a warning area. that is where they expect new snow. the timing of that, the afternoon and evening for a while is when we pick up the snow chances for our area. how much snow? the heavier amounts -- which until you get to carol and parts of northern baltimore county before it finally eases up tomorrow night. that is where things will calm down. tomorrow is the rain and snow day. by tomorrow night it ends. nice recovery. pavement is warm. russia will probably be all right in town. we will have to keep an eye on that.
