[captioning made possible by constellation energy group] captioned by the national captioning institute --www.ncicap.org-- >> it is october 29th. do you know where your shovel is? good evening, everyone. we know what you are thinking, and yes, you are right. it is rare to have snow in october. it has not happened in baltimore in 32 years, but it happened today. we begin live in westminster. >> the good news to pass along is that the snow finally stopped falling a couple of hours ago. we are already starting to see some falling out. blades of grass have already started to appear through the snow out here. we are no stranger to snow in maryland. a lot of people were just caught off guard because of how early it started falling. >> her car could not have broken down at a worse time. >> this stuff is pretty disgusting. it is cold and wet and messy and

not a good day for your car to die. >> even though it was only the end of october, carroll county look like a winter wonderland as the nor'easter moved up the coast. there was enough heavy, wet snow to blanket almost all of westminster. >> everywhere there is snow on the leaves, the trees. and along the side of the road. a lot of the roads have a lot of sludge which makes it kind of hazardous when you are changing lanes. not fun to be out right now. >> forecasters predicted several inches of snow for the county, which was evident from the accumulation on this front. >> barry and seasonable. it is probably a month or a month -- very and seasonable. it is probably a month or a month and a half early, but what are you going to do. >> even though the roads were

over. >> we encourage everyone to slow down and really take it easy. it could be slick out any not even realize it. >> they warn that bridges, ramps and overpasses tend to freeze first. >> generally speaking the snowfall hit warm ground, warm pavement, so that helped take the edge off the storm a little bit, but the snow is substantial out to our west. radar right now shows the storm pulling away from the area. the last of the rains and snows nearby are in southern and central new jersey. we are clearing out. that is the good news, except that the cold air is coming in behind it, which is what usually happens when a nor'easter corms through -- comes through.

afghanistan. a car bomber targeted a nato convoy, in the end, hitting up bus carrying u.s. service members. the bomber was able to kill 13 americans and four afghans, three civilians and one afghan police officer. this is the biggest attack we have seen in the capital since mid september. an afghan service member turned his weapon onto nato service members killing three australians as well as their afghan interpreters. this comes just days before the is double conference is supposed to take place in turkey, -- is stan ball -- istanbul conference is supposed to take place in turkey, talking about the future of afghanistan. >> question tonight. did the october snow bring

>> baltimore county police are searching for a suspect after the robbery of a liquor store. this was around 1215 this afternoon. that is when investigators say the owner chased the suspect out of the store and fired a shot in the parking lot. it is unclear tonight if the suspect was hit. happy ending tonight for the virginia family and 8-year-old autistic boy who had been

missing for six days. he was found alive yesterday in a rock quarry and quickly airlifted to a local hospital. the core is about 1 mile from the park where robber was last seen. his parents say he ran off during a family hike. thousands of volunteers have been looking for robert. >> everyone on the team -- no one on the team ever gave up. i have to say that there were some times that you just had to reach down and find that faith that you were going to find him. >> robert wood is said to be in good bank condition tonight. the east coast pelted by snow today. was it enough to bring the occupy protesters in from wall street? >> that storm is pulling away. new england is still getting some snow. no big storms out here to the west, at least for a while. we will talk about the forecast

saving for college. the rare october snowstorm did not deter occupy wall street protesters in new york. demonstrations did continue today, stretching into their second month. it must have been cold camping out in two since. earlier this week, officials removed power generators and fuel supplies, citing a power hazard. this where snowy halloween did not keep trick or treaters away from the white house. the first family handed out candy and cookies to local school children and military families. snow in october is where a around here, but it has before -- it has happened before and again. >> i was shocked by it, actually. i do not think i have ever seen snow on a pumpkin. >> welcome to snowtober.

saturday. she said she never worried about snow at the ceremony until today. >> now, your forecast. >> the snow has left our area, the snow and rain and sleet. we will take a little wider view of what is going on with the storm. massachusetts and connecticut are where the intense snow is falling right now. it is going to be a rough night in new england. the last of the precipitation is in new jersey. that will be ending in the next couple of hours. coming behind it, not much except for cold air. temperatures were flat today. the high was 42 at the airport, 44 at the harbor. that was before sunrise, closer to midnight last night. all day we were in the 30's. the low was 35 at the airport, 39 at the inner harbor. the liquid that fell today at

the airport, just over an inch. just under an inch at the inner harbor. a trace of snow measured. here in the city, officially, we had no measurable snow. keep in mind that 63 is the normal high for this time of year. we have been well short of that for a couple of days. temperatures will stay close to freezing north and northwest of the city. it has gone below freezing in some areas in the mountains to the west. the storm center itself is south of cape cod right now and pulling to the north east, taking all of that stormy weather with it. it will be quiet out here for a couple of days, but there is another disturbance in the plains. that comes in early next week. tonight, unseasonably cold, northwest winds 10-15. we do have freeze and frost warnings in effect for the area. the purple-shaded areas from new jersey back across maryland and

the western part of the state. mostly sunny tomorrow, unseasonably chilly. only 46-54 the high. keep in mind 63 is typical. west winds at 5-10 miles per hour. small craft advisories for the early morning and afternoon, 15-20 knots and two-3 foot shop in the day. by monday night, toward midnight, and early tuesday, a little weather disturbance comes across the area and we could pick up a shower. take a look at the forecast for the big football game tomorrow. downtown, mostly sunny skies are expected but it will be kind of chili. number two northwest wind at about 5-10 miles per hour. halloween, kids will be out late afternoon into the early evening hours. we expect mostly cloudy skies, kind of cold, with temperatures in the 40's for the trick or treaters.
