crosby was already being monitored by authorities. he was wearing a gps monitoring device. police will not comment just yet as their investigation continues as to what happened inside a van in west baltimore. investigators arrested lucky christopher crosby. he is charged with rape and other sex offenses. he and four other suspects are accused of a brutal assault. the victim, a 14-year-old girl. a van similar to this was on leslie street. she said she was in an unfamiliar area and was lost. she met an unknown black male who offered her a ride. she observed two other men that

were already inside and then two other men got inside the vehicle. the victim suffered serious injuries and the attack happened behind crosby's' home. he was just released in september. he was on probation and was wearing a gps and the bracelet at the time of the attack. a spokesperson said crosby was compliant and had no violations. crosby remains in jail. he was denied bail yesterday. police are still searching for those other suspects. reporting live, kim dacey, wbal- tv 11 news. >> governor martin o'malley will be on hand for it ribbon-cutting ceremony for a wind turbine.

after that, he will go to cambridge to deliver remarks at a full conference. this is a voluntary nonprofit association maintained by city and town governments. two maryland politicians want to expand a program that allows people to donate frequent miles programs to the veterans' families. they say this should be expanded to include hotel stays. >> starbucks is doing its share to try to stimulate job growth. they are accepting a $5 donations. all donations will go to firms that will stem job losses. that brings us to our water cooler question of the day.

good morning. we have milder conditions from baltimore out to the east. we have a storm system that tracked across the eastern tier of maryland overnight. we saw some showers in ocean city that were light in nature. the roads were wet along 95 this morning in baltimore. there could be a few slick spots. we see a wide variation of temperatures. we had clouds overnight. 51 in annapolis. 48 in ocean city. we don't have to go too far to the west where skies were clear overnight. 37 in gaithersburg. 34 in frederick. you may or may not have to defrost your windows this morning. temperatures will drop a couple more degrees as we head towards

a mild start today from baltimore east where we have seen clouds and showers overnight. western areas are starting off in the 30's. as the kids drag themselves back to school, mid 40's and we will see a few clouds across the area. it will be beautiful today. we will have sunshine and temperatures in the upper 50's. we will talk about how long this weather will last in the seven- day forecast. that is coming up. >> two new studies show the effects of smoking linger in the body long after you kick the habit. smokers were two times more likely to have pancreatic cells that are likely to lead to cancer. former smokers haven't increased risk for cancer is polyps in their colon.

look at where it is right now across the state. out in the 30's in the western counties. anywhere east, pretty mild. 50 degrees at the inner harbor. 46 at the airport. the sun still has to rise. these temperatures could drop a few more degrees. those clouds had a major affect on the temperature overnight. they're still down to the eastern shore. west will start out with bright sunshine. this sunshine will be moving into the state today. high pressure nestles itself in and it will stick with us for a couple of days. a nice start for the month of november. a new storm system is producing shower is in the dakotas and into minnesota. this will eventually had our way by the end of the week.
