i am sarah caldwell. we begin with breaking news -- the jury has reached a decision on the sentencing of convicted murderer walter bishop. barry simms is life in harford county with the leaking details. >> this morning notes from jurors indicated they were leaning away from the death penalty. the jury sentenced walter bishop to life in prison without possibility of parole -- with the possibility of parole. he confessed to shooting william porter, claiming that the victim's wife, karla porter, pressured him, claiming that he was abusive, and promising to pay him $9,000. bishop told police that he walked into the gas station porter , and pulled the trigger four times. the jury considered several factors in reaching the decision, so-called mitigating factors, including bishop's is

linus, you are on the original "law and order," returning as the same character trait is that like getting back on a bike? >> yeah, it is, but like getting back on a new bike with extra wheels or something. my character is no longer just able to be the man he was before. i am now the bureau chief. level of whole new responsibility. i think the political awareness and accountability that is coming with that. i think he has had to grow up a little bit. maybe he is a little more jaded, but i think he is still passionate about justice. he just has a more complex. not -- more complex arena he is working in. >> what is it like for both of the behind the scenes, considering the history you have had with the show? >> my only history with the show
