there is so much on the line. it is difficult to think any jury is in the decision of whether someone lives or dies. >> the judge imposed a full sentence for the charges he faced in the march 2010 killing at the gas station. the judge gave bishop another life sentence for the conspiracy to commit murder. all of the sentences to run consecutively. >> our understanding is it would make him eligible for parole in about 50 years. >> it has been obviously very difficult. that is all i have. we appreciate all the support i have gotten. >> bishops admitted shooting william ray porter three times in the head. he declared a quick -- victim's wife supplied the handgun and promise to pay him $9,000. bishop told detectives he believed carla was being

abused. the defense tried to show he was manipulated. it is clear that some jurors believe it. -- believed it. the judge says this is a crime that could have been avoided. the videotaped confession made him eligible for the death penalty. >> i do not think it was our hurdle at all. it helps him. you cannot help but see his remorse in that, and his willingness to cooperate with the authorities. >> it was a key to our ability to prove first-degree premeditated murder. he had knowledge to was doing this for money. -- he acknowledged he was doing this for money. >> the wife, carla porter, goes on trial sometime next year. >> another trial going on in

rockville. graphic testimony from the final witness in the open shot murder in bethesda. the deputy chief mecca note -- medical examiner said the victim suffered 331 separate injuries and was alive for the entire attack. cruising out on her body indicated she had a pulse and blood pressure for the duration of the attack. she was found dead on the morning of march 12 at the lululemon shop. closing arguments are now set to begin. nearly two dozen alleged gang members have been charged by a grand jury on racketeering charges. police say they have been behind by a activity inside and outside of maryland prisons, including baltimore county, baltimore city and in and around the county. 22 people are listed on the indictment.

atlantic coast, the south freeze continues with mild air. temperatures have been well into the 70's today. that is streaming out ahead of a front which goes from around chicago to texas. this brought snow to the colorado rockies yesterday. this will weaken as it tracks east, and essentially not get here until after noon on friday just passing south of us. snow around dodge city. showers stretch in all the way to northern michigan. in the meantime, the weather is quiet here. mostly quiet here. lots of sun tomorrow. maybe even of thunderstorms around virginia beach. appear mostly cloudy skies. showers will be primarily south of us. the doors open to more fantastic weather for saturday and sunday. weekend looking good.

it is in the city of baltimore. it is there banks in part to the major in william donald schaefer. today would of been the former governor's 90th birthday. many people remembering him by doing something special to him, community service. >> what he cared about so much was the city neighborhood and the people who live in them. many of them are thriving, and they're doing so because of the governor. >> william donald schaefer would have been 90 years old today. part of his legacy is the william donald schaefer city fund. it was a fund to help their reservoir hill community to start what they call their own community farm. there were not reasons, were not opportunities to come out and meet your neighbor. tonight -- now with the firm you have that opportunity. with that people get inspired.

they grow just about everything on the farm from flowers, fruits, to all kinds of vegetables. the idea is to bring the community together, and so far it seems to be working. this farm is more than just a farm. >> it is a way for people to come together. we got a grant to do a harvest festival. we have 300 people in this area over here come together and share recipes. >> never kids have got involved in the project. they hope to pick vegetables and attended the plants. it is all part of a process of building a stronger community. the good deal like carrots? yack? >> i think it is really beautiful. i hope nothing happens to it. i like how they are growing flowers and vegetables. >> governor schaefer was all baltimore neighborhoods.

airport where she just arrived at 4:00. this is a far cry from where she began this journey all the way down at the south pole. she has gone all kinds of national attention. she is back in new england and ready to relax and begin her recovery. she is going to spend some time here in vermont in the resort town taking it easy. she was managing a research station when she had a stroke, but bad weather kept officials from evacuating her until two months later. she spent the past week at john hopkins. they said she will make and your complete recovery. now she is ready to do just that. >> it is a relief. i'm tickled pink to just be here, chill out, convalesce. >> she said she hopes her experience will prompt changes in a way that the self poll
