>> parents are reacting after a baltimore city student was stabbed in the middle of the school day inside the school building. that is our big story tonight. the stabbing happened at the baltimore civitas school located on edgewood avenue. kai reed is live at the west baltimore school tonight with reaction for us. she is in the newsroom. >> the incident involves one student stabbing another student. school officials are not saying what led to the attack. >> that is sad that little kids have to resolve their matters through stabbing, fighting, or guns. >> the stabbing happened inside the school around 1:30. a 14-year-old student stabbed another in the stomach in a stairwell. the victim who is in 10th grade was rushed into surgery at sinai hospital.

larry says his nephew is constantly talking about violence and fights during the school day. >> there are a lot of kids that are scared to go to school. >> i am concerned. my son goes to school here and i want him to be safe. >> the building hosts to make schools. school officials say both the victim and the suspect attend civitas. the 14-year-old suspect was taken into custody immediately after the stabbing. the victim is in stable condition. >> they are kids. that is ridiculous. how can he have a knife in school? how many other kids have knives and guns? what is he afraid of that makes him carry a knife? it is really sad, though. >> the school, parents notifying them that after school events were canceled, but some parents said they were not told about

the stabbing. >> what began as a call for a victim in cardiac arrest is now murder-suicide investigation. authorities say she was murdered by her grandson. police believe he stole her car and then took his own life. >> the woman's daughter became concerned when she got a phone call from her mother's employer. the employer said that the victim had not been to work in two days, which was highly unusual. another family member went to the home to check on things and found the victim in the basement. she had been shot several times. >> police say they later found the victim's grandson dead inside her car. he apparently shot himself. a man accused of murdering his wife appeared in a montgomery county court today. he was denied bail.

25-year-old curtis lopez is now charged with murder of his wife. officials also expect to charge lopez with the murder of her 11- year-old son. prosecutorsay william mclean was beaten to death with a baseball bat which was left near the child's body. an independent report spreads plenty of blame for the january shooting outside of baltimore club that left two men dead, one of them baltimore city police officer who was killed by friendly fire. the report says that officer himself as part responsible. jayne miller also has what is not included in the report. >> the independent report on the shooting outside the select lounge finds fault across the board from police training to leadership to the quality of the investigation. all come under fire. >> i was not interested in sugarcoating the incident. >> the chaotic scene on the morning of january 9 was captured by a security camera.

it shows how parting will reject all parking lot scuffle turned lethal with plainclothes officer of torbit in the middle of the crowd. four officers fired at torbit 42 times before realizing he was a cop. the report finds a failure to establish incident command. your than half the officers who responded check in with the dispatcher, adding to the chaos. officer torbit took action without backup, which contributed, the report said, to the life-threatening situation. after the shooting, police failed to do accurate ballistic tests, making it impossible to know exactly who fired the shot that killed torbit and gamble. none of the four officers who are the guns or three others, two of them supervisors, cooperated. >> all the officers appear before the board that discharge their weapons. at that point, they declined to answer on the basis of legal advisor.

>> the print -- the police -- the three others who refused to answer questions are all at work, despite the widespread criticism in the report. makes -- the mayor said she stands by the department. >> the report makes 33 recommendations. the mayor says all will be followed. one involves simple courtesy. the report finds that officers treated some witnesses rudely after the shooting. one man said he was tasered while trying to help one of the victims. >> of 54-year-old man faces several charges including sodomy. howard county police believe there may be other juvenile victims but so far have not released a picture of the suspect.

an inmate accused of escaping in anne arundel county is now behind bars. he was found in southwest baltimore last night and is now charged with second-degree escape. the fate of state center ulysses currie is in the hands of a jury. prosecutors criticized his honesty and integrity, but the defense fought back, saying he was just unorganized and would never knowingly break the law. the senators charged with bribery, extortion, and making false statements to investigators. deliberations will resume tomorrow morning. tomorrow we could hear from one of the women who accused gop presidential candidate herman cain of sexual harassment in the 1990's. it happened while he was head of the national restaurant association. the former employee received a settlement and was bound by a confidentiality agreement. cain continues to deny he harassed anyone and now claims

>> according to the team's head coach, parents from the lanie high school contacted the principal at perry hall, calling the dance moved lower and lewd. >> dozens of videos like this one will pop up on youtube. but when the perry hall boys' soccer team did this dance at a recent game against the lanie high school, it caused a stir. >> they said we were doing sexual gestures, when i don't see how you could do that from a dance when we clearly have pictures of how we are doing it. >> others did the dance earlier in the year and they never got penalized. we all ran over to him and did the dance."

>> the next day after the game, and teammates say the principal met with them and told them their season was over. >> it was this belief and then just tears. when you hear that, you don't know what to do or say. >> according to the code, the entire team was suspended for the last game. players and their parents say they are frustrated because they say the punishment doesn't fit the crime. >> i don't think our -- i just think our boys need to be treated fairly. this whole decision was wrong and this cannot fair to them. i think it should be reevaluated. >> as a result of the team suspicion, perry hall will essentially be knocked out of the regional playoffs. >> everybody put their heart into this. the games, the practice, everything. nobody came showing up half asleep. everybody was just fired up and ready to play. you have it end with a forfeit,

>> we are following news of two fires in our area. the first in harbor around 8:15 tonight. a home went up in claims. we are told it reached to alarms. three people were taken to hospital. crews are on the scene of a fatal house fire in west baltimore that started around 9:00 this afternoon in the park heights neighborhood. we are told one person was found dead inside. there is no word on what caused either of these fires. senate republicans have blocked the $60 billion infrastructure project backed by president obama. the 51-49 vote killed legislation to build and repair roads, rail line, and other

projects meant to jump-start the sluggish economy. at a time when more than a million construction workers are looking for jobs, they voted no to putting them back to work doing the work american needs done. the american people deserve to know why they refuse to put these workers back on rebuilding america. that is from president obama. this is the third portion of the president's american jobs act to be defeated in the senate. it was hailed as a success, but serious financial questions appear to be dogging the baltimore grand prix. reports show the company that organized the event is now being sued by vendors and lenders over unpaid bills. beneficial says the company will settle the debt in time for the indy race to return next year. a local hospital is facing a medical malpractice lawsuit after young boy's legs were

amputated. his parents say it could all have been prevented. shelton dutes covered that story. >> eric flynn is not letting his double invitation stop him from being a kid. >> know kids should have to go through this. because of something so simple. >> last december, eric was admitted to baltimore washington medical center with a high fever, extremely swollen tonsils, and unexplained hip pain. despite being set rigid standard safety protocol to do a rapid stress test in such a situation, the doctors never did one. >> knowing his tonsils were as swollen as they were, why she would not just swab and do a simple stress test, we would not be in the situation we are in today. >> he was discharged with nasal congestion and hip strain, but

his condition got worse over night and he was back in a hospital the next morning. it caused a severe infection. in order to save his life, doctors had to amputate both of his legs. >> if. had been given simple antibiotics, just as a precautionary measure, with all the signs and systems of an infection, he would be cured and he would be playing soccer on his elementary school soccer team. >> eric's parents have filed a medical malpractice suit seeking compensation for his care. attorneys would not comment on a specific amount but say it is more than $30,000. >> we just want to make people aware that it is very, very serious thing. >> eric's parents say they rely on him for their strength. >> every morning, seeing him smile when he wakes up. never once does he wake up complaining are angry.

>> the hospital released a statement saying it baltimore washington medical center and all of the providers to care for eric believe the care he received to be thorough and appropriate. his symptoms were not consistent with or indicative of this very aggressive form of infection. we are now getting a very different view of that deadly tour boat accident in philadelphia in which two people were killed. matthew devlin was operating the barge when it ran over a tour boat back in july. he admits being distracted by a cell phone call concerning his son's medical condition before that collision. he pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to year and a day in prison. after six weeks in a los angeles courtroom, both sides made their closing arguments today in the case against michael jackson's doctor, conrad murray. >> every single doctor that testified in this courtroom told you that would never do what

conrad murray did. >> the defense told jurors dr. murray had no control over what jackson did and that jackson himself was the only one responsible for his death. prosecutors argued it was dr. murray criminal negligence. jury deliberations will begin tomorrow. >> now, your insta-weather forecast with chief meteorologist tom tasselmyer. >> relatively mild november temperature is covered most of the eastern united states today, all the way up into southern new england. around boston, into the low 60's. was 71 at the charleston, west virginia, 62 in pittsburg, 65 here in baltimore today. with a morning low of 38, the temperature turned around pretty nicely with a good deal of sunshine. 66 in downtown baltimore, the normal high 61. we had enough cloud cover to come in and trap the clap reject

time for the weekend. sunny days and clear nights and fairly comfortable, for this time of year. the skies turn sunday tomorrow afternoon, breezy with a north wind at 10-15 and highs of 55- 60. the weather service has a small craft advisory in effect. in western maryland, a shower could pass by early in the morning but th it will clear up rather quickly. saturday and sunday should be beautiful in the mountains, but look at those chilly temperatures. on the eastern shore, minimal chance of a morning shower. down toward cambridge, maybe a better chance for showers in the morning but clearing out in the early afternoon. rain chances that ocean city are up around 40% early tomorrow, but then clearing and sunny for the weekend. for november, football in western pennsylvania can bring just about anything. this time it looks like a mild and dry kickoff, 49-53 sunday
