>> covering the nation -- mississippi voters should down a controversial measure that would have amended the state constitution to define life as beginning at conception and would have made no exceptions for victims of rape, incest, where pregnancy said jeopardize the life of the mother. while the initiative appeared to have support it was opposed by national right-to-life groups and the state's catholic church. police in washington state are retracing the steps of a mother who says her two-year-old son vanished. police suspect foul play. the mother says she ran out of gas and left her son sleeping in the car but by the time she returned he was gone.

police said the mother has refused to take a polygraph test as the european financial crisis drives on, the head of the international monetary fund warns things could get worse. the imf managing directors as the global economy faces a lost decade of little or no growth. she insists cooperation among nations is the only way to avoid a potential collapse. >> if we do not affect boldly, and if we do not act together, the economy around the world runs the risk of a downward spiral of uncertainty. >> christine lagarde went on to say that a lack of action could cause a global demand to split further and make countries less financially stable. still to come, long awaited approval for the iphone 4 s.
