year-old girl was raped by classmates in a west baltimore school. the mother says that the 13- year-old boy of salted the daughter by knife point. assaulted her daughter by knifepoint. >> the mother of a 12-year-old girl described her mother's account of how she says she was raped at a west baltimore school on october 4. we're not really her face for the school in order to protect her daughter's identity. >> he followed her into the classroom. >> she says that the 13-year-old classmate grabbed the girl's arm of a box cutter up to rexroat. >> -- up to her throat. the girl says that there was one other student in the room at the time who she begged to go get

help, but help never came. >> [unintelligible] my child is supposed to be safe. >> according to the mother, the child was so scared as she did not tell her about the incident until two weeks later. the school is saying that they are investigating and the district is not returning calls. it recalls -- it requires a level for response. meanwhile, she has hired a lawyer and has moved her daughter to another school. >> he can walk around the schools got free. he can turn around and do this to another child. >> of going -- according to the girl's mother, the case has been

referred to the state's attorney's office. she is scheduled to meet with the state's attorney on monday. >> pennsylvania gov. tom corbett expressed the supplement on many levels. he says that he supported the board of trustees' decision to oust the head football coach and president because he lost confidence in their abilities to lead. >> certainly, every pennsylvanian who has any knowledge of this case, who has read to the grand jury report feels a sense of regret, of sorrow, and also has seen careers and. but we must keep in mind that, when it comes to the safety of

children, there can be no margin for error. >> over the course of the alleged molestation, there were some witnesses, but the question remains why did not anyone intervene? >> it will be awhile before the truth comes out about this apparent cover-up. but something like power and loyalty may have contributed to the scandal. >> it is difficult to know how much joe paterno or other university officials knew about the legend molestation. why was not more done to stop the abuse? pennsylvania gov. tom corbett acknowledged the apparent collapse and power. >> in my career, i have seen many instances where people who have power believe that they are beyond the law appeared >> gov. corbett says that a special committee will determine the center of power in the football

program. aside from the power, could there be other factors that could contribute to the inaction? >> it is a closely knit organization. people may cover for one another. >> he is not directly involved with the penn state case, but speculate why athletic officials may have turned a blind eye. >> normally, that would not happen in normal society. but in that group, this is just a one time. let's just sweep it under the rug and boys being boys. that is just a heinous crime in itself. >> paternal has not said why he did not report it beyond -- paterno has not said why he did not report it beyond the university. >> i do know whether they felt that joe would eventually fall. i believe they thought it would take 12 particular instances and this will go away over time.

and a young athlete is a very special trust relationship. for someone who is in that world, you must feel like that has been breached in an awful way. >> violated. there is an all-or-nothing aspect to sports. sports is a zero-some good either you are winning or you're losing. you are either women or your losing. you're getting the job done or you are not getting the job done. there's no room for bray. now you have a group and a culture where adult males are supposed to be leaders, guides, teachers, mentors, and protectors for young men in sports. there is the circle-the-like mentality that is us against of the world. clearly, at penn state, they had the wrong definition of "us" and the wrong idea who they should

that helped her get the modification. but now she is extremely perplexed. >> i want my life back and it has turned into total chaos. >> her mortgage payments had been about $1,500 per month. she paid $513 per month. four months later, when the modification became final, the monthly payment was even later, $388. >> it is signed, stamped, sealed by suntrust . >> but after making those payments for more than a year, suntrust notified her that it was not enough. her payment had more than doubled to $848. taxes and insurance had been kept out of the final calculations. roberts says she cannot afford the higher payments plus the amount now past due. kim says that suntrust

admitted the mistake and still friend to foreclose. >> i spoke with someone there and they admit they did miss payments but because they made those payments on her behalf, she still owes that money. >> we contacted suntrust to find out what happened. a spokesman said this statement. searching thrust trial loan application, we found these clauses -- it is a standard industry clause. even though her problem may seem somewhat unique, homeowners that who have obtained modifications

do not always get the heavy and in that they -- the happy endings that they had hoped for. nearly 124,000 homeowners lost their modifications because they missed three consecutive payments. >> it is so heartbreaking because you try everything you can. >> kim says that the problems cannot always be fixed. she has seen what happens to local homeowners who can no longer afford the modification. >> we see them lose their house in six months to nine months and all of their savings. >> at a last-ditch effort, she sought effort from the state's emergency mortgage assistance program. it brings the mortgage current, pays back taxes and the homeowner has two years to regain employment and then take over the full mortgage payment. >> in the case of don roberts and anyone else on disability,
