[captioning made possible by constellation energy group] captioned by the national captioning institute --www.ncicap.org-- >> the fire was so intense. >> two people are dead after flames ripped through southwest baltimore. that is our big story tonight. that deadly fire started around 3:30 this afternoon on south fulton avenue. it is a story we first brought you at 6:00. we are live downtown at city fire headquarters with the latest. >> investigators are still trying to figure out where the fire started, but it was like a lot of the damage was concentrated on the third floor. that is where the victims were crying out for help. >> when the fire is lighted out that one window -- >> as flames ripped through these row homes, the victims had their arms hanging out the window, begging for someone to

help them. this man ran over to see rows of that black smoke. when he got to the 400 block, she recognized the home that was on fire and ran in to help. >> it was so much fire. they are on the third floor. the backdraft came down the steps. >> he ran outside and noticed his friends were still alive "they were saying help me. i said, a jump. the mother said, come help me. >> there were two people on the third floor who did not make it. it is a male and female. they both suffered henry's -- heavy smoke inhalation and expired here at the scene. >> the victims are identified as donna and ernie.

two firefighters are being treated for minor burns to their neck, years, and forehead. that was after the fire was put out. >> it is my birthday. >> it is still unclear where that fire started in the home. we are live tonight at fire headquarters in downtown baltimore. >> police are looking for suspects after a series of attempted arson and involving molotov cocktails, all in northwest baltimore. the first happened this morning when someone threw a homemade bomb inside a home on bellevue ave. moments later, fire crews were called to the 39 -- 3900 block of growth land avenue. a around 3:30, a third molotov cocktail was thrown into a third floor apartment on liberty heights avenue. >> we need to work together with

the neighborhoods and residents to bring these people to justice. i promise you we will hold these individuals accountable. >> the fires were put out quickly and no one was hurt. police believe these incidents are connected to a rash of similar incidents in september. a man is dead after a shooting in west baltimore. it happened on pennsylvania avenue. authorities say the victim was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. he was rushed to shop, where he died. there is no word on a suspect or possible motive. two men are recovering after a double shooting in east baltimore. shots were fired around 7:30 tonight on aiken street. there is no word on their condition. the search for the gunman continues. we know the names of the two people killed outside an anne arundel mills mall last night. they were gunned down last night

in the mall parking lot just before midnight. officers were able to identify a vehicle of interest. that led them to a standoff with the suspect, james coleman, who confronted officers with an ak- 47 and a shotgun. police shot and killed the suspect. >> we do not believe this was a random act of violence. the preliminary investigation is in the early stages. we believe the victims may have known the suspect. >> one officer suffered what is believed to be non life- threatening injuries. investigators say coleman had an extensive criminal history. a university student stabbed and killed last weekend was laid to rest. . services were held today for courtney mccoy. she was murdered during an off- campus party at western maryland university last week.

according to state college police, someone threw cinderblocks to the window of the home. the damage was apparent and a white covering block the space. a security crew was working of the outside of the house. police did not note who caused the damage. no one was hurt. >> another debate for the gop presidential candidates tonight, but this time, no had my moments for rick perry or questions about herman cain's personal life. >> in a cbs debate on foreign policy, the gop presidential candidates gave each other a break. >> this is president obama's greatest failing. >> we are talking to the american people about why every single one of us is better than barack obama. >> if you eliminate the department of energy -- >> you remember it now.
