we still love them. >> the victims died of smoke inhalation. >> a pair of fire fighters are recovering from injuries after a fire. it was not clear if anyone was home at the time. >> the mayor plans to increase the stakes. kim dacey is live at city hall with more on the plant to increase the already controversial bottle tax. >> the mayor plans to increase the bottle tax from two to five cents on bottled drinks. the tax faced stiff opposition when it was first proposed from the beverage industry. revenue from the bottle tax has already fallen short of expectations. city hall estimiated the tax would bring in $5.8 million a year, but it actually generated

$4.7 million in the first year. increasing the bottle tax to five cents would generate $10.2 million. the mayor plans to use that money for school construction and renovations. >> we were looking for ways, creative ways to really put some more resources into school construction. you know, you take a look at some of our schools around the city and you know our kids deserve more. and we think this was a way that can help us get there. >> after hearing the proposal, rob santoni of santoni markets writes, "mayor stephanie rawlings-blake continues to demonstrate an outright disrespect for baltimore business. mocking our industry like this, in my opinion, is somewhat of an abuse of power." the city council is expected to hear the proposal at their meeting tonight. they will have to sign off on the measure. kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you.
