just six days after being elected, mayor stephanie rawlings blake will rid -- revealed her plan to increase the bottle tax. city margins are not happy about the proposed hike. it is already a controversial tax. >> revenue from the embattled city bottle tax has fallen short of expectations. city hall estimates the tax would bring in $5.8 million budget only generated for a point -- $4.7 million. mayor stefanie rollins like announced plans to increase the tax to 5 cents. >> we were looking for creative ways to put more resources into school construction. take a look at some of our schools around the city and our kids deserve more. we think this is a way that can help us get there. >> increasing the tax would generate $10.2 million but it needs approval from the city council and is expected to face

stiff opposition from the beverage industry. last month, during a hearing, coca-cola warned its business is threatened by the tax. pepsi will no longer bottle its beverages in the city and santoni markets estimated cost is business $500,000 in tax -- in revenue and jobs. robasantoni says the mayor has an outbreak disrespect. the mayor says the city schools need the money. >> fully committed to finding a way to speed up the pace of the school construction so we can make sure that the facilities match the greatness of our kids. >> homicide detectives are investigating a shooting in anne arundel county. officers responding to a parking

lot where they found a 25-year- old shot in the torso. he was taken to harbor hospital where he later died. detectives believe he was targeted but are not sure of an exact motive. investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a fire in southwest baltimore that claimed the life of a woman and her adults on saturday. friends and neighbors join relatives in remembering the victims sunday night and neighbors say that dopnna ritter and her son were killed. the son was killed trying to rescue his mom who was trapped on the third floor of the row home. >> we believe there are angels there. they are still here. they should know that we still love them and they will never be forgotten that the fire officials could not confirm the identities of the victims but said they died of smoke inhalation. ♪ >> we're talking about a

louis and 74 in atlanta. this is keeping our temperatures warm through the afternoon. temperatures will be pretty mild tonight, in the mid 40's across the area, warmer in the downtown area. it will be cooler in the suburbs, in the 40's tomorrow morning but a mild start to november day with mostly cloudy skies, a slight chance for showers. we have a better chance for rain more likely into tomorrow. the range of start to push into western maryland early tomorrow, maybe before daybreak, but a better chance in baltimore after the morning commute. we could see showers midday and the second piece of the storm system will move in throughout wednesday into thursday which could lead to a soggy forecast. it will stay mild until that storm system passes and we have rain chances through wednesday and the temperatures will drop off behind the storm pretty drastically.
