country. demonstrations in baltimore remain intact. several were removed from karl rove's beach last night. demonstrators say they have no plans to leave the square. >> occupy wall street protesters he can use the lower manhattan park. they just cannot camp out there. mayor michael bloomberg ordered the camp be cleared and cleaned after it was a safety hazard. in seattle yesterday, members were pepper spray and a clash with police. protesters marched through the middle of a downtown street blocking traffic. four demonstrators were arrested. in baltimore, a much different scene. occupy protesters lined up for their daily meal. >> we are watching it closely. >> discussions have focused on the events unfolding in new york city. >> we do not feel the exact same

thing would happen here. i believe the city of baltimore is handling the situation much differently. we hope that's the case. >> from other actions, when they clamp down on the movement, prevent people from speaking freely, the movement grows. i expect the same from this. >> protesters brought in solar panels after the city cut powers t to the square two weeks ago. the city's stance is that the square is not intended to be used as a campground and that overnight camping is prohibited. demonstrators say they have applied for a permit that they hope will allow them to continue the 24 hour per day occupation. >> i hope we have a two-way street of communication, which we do not currently have. i would like to see us working together to improve our community. >> wbal-tv 11 news. >> fire investigators are trying to determine how a trash truck

caught fire this morning. fire crews responded to philadelphia and mayflower roads to find the truck fully engulfed with flames. everyone was able to get out safely. the man accused of burning down the baltimore tire store where he worked as a free man this afternoon. 35-year-old jason hicks pleaded guilty. in september, prosecutors say he flicked a lighter that sparked a massive fire at the belvidere tires in northwest baltimore. the store owner testified that he did not want hicks to go to jail. baltimore city police say they have no suspect in the deadly shooting in west baltimore. shots were fired around 11:00 in the harlem park neighborhood. we are told the victim was pronounced dead on the scene. police osurrounded the area, but tell us there were no suspects in the house.

allies. many troops are headed home. a new deal with australia could have troops headed down under. that story from australia. >> president obama arrived on wednesday and made a major announcement, along with the australian prime minister. according to the leaders, there will be a new american marine air ground task force set up in the country's northern territory. this task force will initially be about 250 marines and eventually 2500. the forces will train and operate alongside their australian counterparts. >> this rotational deployment is significant because it allows us to not only build capacity and cooperation between our two countries, but it also allows us to meet the demands of a lot of partners in the region. some analysts have said

bit more sunshine today. that helped the temperatures warm up. for the west, temperatures are dropping as the latest storm system moves in. a lot of clouds in the area right now and it looks like the rain continues to push in from the northeast. there are some pretty heavy pockets in virginia. this is something we will have to face through the rest of the day. the storm system is in place. a friend has moved to our south. still pushing in across the ohio valley, tennessee, and kentucky right now. heavy rain. this area of low pressure moves in. warm and humid air sparking severe weather. tornado watch and alabama. storms are pushing through right now. for us, this is just a rain event. we are not talking about severe weather. you still have to take it easy. this rain will be pushing our way down the roads. you can see one round of rain after another.

it looks like that should start to shift east and we start to taper off into the night. there could be some rain showers tomorrow morning. the concern is, depending on how cold it is tomorrow morning, there could be a mix of snow. that's not likely to accumulate across baltimore. western maryland by tomorrow evening. tonight, rain is likely. 30's towards the suburbs. 40's as you get to the city. tomorrow, highs only in the upper 20s and low 50s. maybe a mix of rain and show early -- rain and snow early tomorrow evening. the seven-day forecast calls for much cooler weather tomorrow. 50 is the high. 51 on friday. the weekend, we start to move back up. another chance of showers sunday

for the ravens. >> in this afternoon's consumer alert, a new study shows recycling could help bring down the nation's unemployment rate. a report from the nonprofit research group says increasing recycling from 33% to 75% would create 1.5 million jobs by 2013. the group says waste diversion requires more manpower than complete disposal. many shoppers are loving the fact that retailers are introducing holiday deals earlier then black friday, -- the black friday backlash from one retailer and the shoppers joining the cause. >> a target worker in omaha is opposing his company's plan to open at midnight on black friday. >> i think it's a little unreasonable to expect the employees to come into the store
