weekend. sheldon dutes has tips to beat the rush. >> usually the wednesday before thanksgiving has been considered the busiest day of the year for traveling. this year, transportation officials say more folks are hitting the road on tuesday. 800,000 marylanders are expected to hit the road this week. that is up from last year. they say the best time to avoid the rush is to travel during non-peak hours. transportation officials suggest being on the road before 6:00 a.m. or after 11:00 p.m. 95 is expected to be business between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.. gas prices have fallen. they're still higher than a year ago. that does not seem to have affected people's decision to travel. >> people are obviously willing and able to spend time with

two officers have been placed on leave after a protest in california that sparked outrage. the incident shows university of california davis police pepper protestersa row of that appear to be peacefully sitting. the davis faculty association is calling on the chancellor to resign for authorizing the police action. >> we understand the unfortunate situation that was created for our students. >> she says she takes full responsibility for the incident but has resisted calls to resign. there is much more ahead on 11 news at 6:00. >> the clouds were here all day. the rain is beginning to come in now. temperatures will be cooler.

us. it will be with us for a couple of days. these lows will be moving along the front. each one will stir up a little rain. that is the way things will be. when you get to the west of the front, it gets quite chilly. there are already single-digit temperatures for the afternoon at international falls. it is 7 degrees. readings are in the 30's in montana. yesterday they were in the single digits as well. there is cold air to the north. the chances of rain increase tonight. east to northeast win tomorrow. that will keep the clouds blocked in. scattered showers. 56 will be the high temperature. the rain will probably be more significant in the morning, a drop off, and then pick up again tomorrow night. the wind will be gusting to 20 miles an hour.
