according to lundberg survey fuel prices. albuquerque, new mexico, had the nation's lowest average price at $2.96 a gallon. san francisco had the highest at $3.78 a gallon. >> and the rush to get out of town for thanksgiving is expected to start a little earlier this year. 11 news reporter kim dacey live in north baltimore with more on what travelers need to know. good morning, kim. >> good morning, mindy. the wednesday before thanksgiving is notorious as one of the busiest travel days of the year, but this year travel experts say that rush could start as early as tuesday. the mbta is expecting nearly three million travelers on state highways, tunnels, and bridges over the home day weekend. the roads will most likely be jammed during peak hours. if you'll be driving the i-95 corridor on tuesday and wednesday, the mbta suggests traveling before 6:00 a.m. or after 11:00 p.m. the authority says non-peak hours on thursday through sunday will mostly be like 9:00 in the morning and after 9:00

most of the rain is east of baltimore right now. showers in the eastern county counties, but just sprinkles and drizzles around the city. it should stay that way for the rest of the morning, so just light rain showers, fog, and drizz toll start. you might get a peek of the sun. off and on showers come back in the afternoon. high temperature only 59. when we come back, we'll check the forecast going all the way through thanksgiving. for now, to the news desk. >> covering the nation this morning, the search continues for a missing florida mother who police believe may have been carjacked. today will be five days since michelle parker was last seen. her black hummer was found abandoned in an apartment complex last week. but police have been searching the area that parker as last cell phone signal came from. police believe she's still alive, and as there's no evidence of homicide. authorities have ruled out her ex-boyfriend, who was considered a person of interest. >> the new york city man accused of plotting to bomb various targets around manhattan is being held behind bars without bail. new york police say they have been watching jose pimentel with the help of an inform apt

thought we'd start with the national travel weather, then work our way back to baltimore. there's going to be rain shower activity all along the east coast from new york all the way down to the carolinas, maybe even into the northern part of florida. if you're driving or flying up to new york, expect rain there. atlanta is a huge connecting hub. there could be thunderstorms there this afternoon. dallas, 63 with a chance for rain showers. dry in chicago, but chilly with a high temperature of 48. stay in the 30's as cro the northern plains going into the dakotas. 52 and dry in denver. maybe rain in seattle, the pacific northwest. and then los angeles looks good, maybe fog in the morning with a high of only 61. relatively cool for them. here at home, we have light rain that we've been dealing with. most of the rain that we had last night is now east of us, and that's good for the morning commute. but you see the showers working their way west to east, left behind some drizzle and some fog. the vizz it's is down to half a mile in some areas, so keep that in mind. but at least a steady rain is not out there right now. the temperatures, mild for this time of the day. it's 56 at the airport. 54 in cockeysville.

the congressional supercommittee looks unlikely to reach an agreement. that is weighing on futures this morning. we're looking at a loss of a little more than 150 points in the dow at the open today. back on friday, mixed close with tech and energy shares dragging the s&p and nasdaq lower. for those that like to save time by shopping online, you may be wasting more time than you think. a study found, on average, it takes women 22 hours to find one purchase, like an item of clothing online. according to the british paper, "the daily mail," that's six times as long compared with visiting scombrick mortar stores. but if you insist on sticking to web surfing, ebay may have something for you. they plan to roll out 25 days of deals starting today, and the company is expected to offer discounted products, as well as send users what they're calling a deal blast each day to customers via email. the daily deal site, living social, also into the holiday spirit. it will announce discounts from businesses ranging from verizon

road, problem-free other than a buildup of volume there. that's the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> new this morning, the search is on for an inmate who was mistakenly release from the jail in prince george's county. authorities say frederick scott was in custody for the murder of a washington, d.c., man back in march. it's reported that he was arrested in las vegas and extradited back to maryland. police say frederick -- excuse me, scott was being held without bond, but a clerical error allowed him to post bond and be released. anyone with any information on scott's whereabouts is asked to contact prince george's county police. also new this morning, more than 150 nursing assistants no longer have their certificate. this after maryland health officials learned that a state employee awarded the docents to people who didn't apply or didn't meet minimum standards. that employee has been fired. a new audit also found that 53% of maryland assisted living

illinois and overshot the runway. police say the injuries are not not life-threatening. the f.a.a. is investigating. one person is in police custody this morning after a triple stabbing in the parking lot of a bar in white marsh. it happened early sunday morning at the sunset beach bar and grill in the 11,400 block of pulaski highway. police say two men with stab wounds were taken to area hospitals, while a third victim reportedly ran from the scene. >> jury selection set to begin later today in the retrial of twin brothers accused of setting a pit bowel fire. the first trial end in addition hung injury. the twins are accused of torturing and setting the pill bull on fire in 2009. the dog was so sadly injured she had to be euthanized. possibly some new information later this morning in the penn state child sex abuse scandal. >> this as the special committee appointed by the university's board of trustees held its first press conference. 11 news reporter francis coe has more. >> serious questions remain about the child sex abuse

scandal at penn state, and one of the three groups looking into the university's actions could shed some light on the investigation this morning. the special committee appointed by penn state's board of trustees and led by merck c.e.o. ken frazier will talk to the media for the first time monday morning. up to now, most board members, including the new interim athletic director, david joyner, say they knew little. >> the physician i learned of any of this was march of this year, that the "faceburg patriot news" did a story. >> the allegations apparently rarely, if ever, were discussed by the board, even when dismissed university president graham spanier and legendary head coach joe paterno were called to testify before the grand jury. and as many on campus and in the community wait for answers, there's a growing concern about lasting repercussions. >> but unfortunately, with this scandal and the riot and all the other things that are going on, it's going to give penn state a bad stigma, in a sense. >> a concern large enough that

is about more than just nutrition. it's an emotional need. so having that at the holidays when people are feeling emotional, they're with family, it's really important that we can, you know, fill that need and have a happy holiday. >> absolutely. that's why you have such a great need right now. so as people start to prepare for their thanksgiving dinners, maybe they want to pick up some food and donate to the shelter, or not to the shelter, rather to the food bank. but you guys can donate it here. how can they at least bring the cans to the food center? >> sure. you can drop off monday through friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. we are closed thanksgiving and the day after. so if you can't get here before thanksgiving, obviously we still need food after that. >> i like your newest option that you have available, because this is a busy time of year, people might not have time to go out, get the food, then bring it to the food bank. you can do it all from home, your virtual food bank. how does that work? >> you just go online to our website, it's

we're helping to support them this morning. thanks, ava. just a quick note here, penn county schools on the eastern shore an hour late because of the fog. you can get all those delays at the bottom of the screen or else online on our website. kent county schools, the only one an hour late. let's start with the national travel whether, because this is the busiest travel time of the year. there's going to be a swath of rain from new york to atlanta, back to dallas. anywhere in the eastern and southeastern part of the country. you're going run into rain. of course, atlanta is the huge connecting hub if you're connecting a flight in atlanta, there could be thunderstorms in the afternoon that may cause some delays. tampa, maybe some thunderstorms tonight, but dry during the day. high near 83. dallas might get some rain as well, 63. it's going to be cold across the upper midwest. you'll probably stay in the 30's in the dakotas, dry in chicago, 48. maybe rain in seattle, and los angeles, kind of cool, but a high of 61. here at home, we have temperatures in the mid 50's right now, but most of the rain, as ava mentioned, is gone.

there's not a whole lot showing up on the radar at the present time, but he'll see the fog and maybe a little bit of drizzle inside that fog. the visibility is down to a half a mile in some spots, so you got to be careful. now, as the fog burns off, maybe we'll get a peek of the sun through the cloud deck, but it's going to be difficult to move the temperatures because of all this activity. it's 55 right now, and that's pretty mild for this time of the year. but it may be picking up four or five degrees this afternoon. it's 50 in taneytown. the forecast for today, mostly cloudy skies, a chance for showers. areas of fog this morning, visibility down to a half or quarter mile. and like i said, maybe during the middle of the day we'll get a peek of the sun. high temperature, about 59. low 60's south of baltimore. sunrise at 6:56. overnight tonight, mostly cloudy, a chance for rain showers. temperatures will drop back into the 40's, and we may see fog redevelop. sun sets this evening at 4:48. seven-day forecast, pretty good chance for rain tomorrow. up to 60%. hold the temperatures in the 50's. rain ithe morning on
