rain showers or drizzle in the fog. we're going to call it mostly foggy, a 40% chance for rain showers through the day. it's certainly not going to be steady. high temperature, 59. when we come back, we'll check the forecast going through the home day. first let's say good morning to sarah and see what's happening on the roads. >> good morning, everyone. of course, the fog could impact your morning rush, so we'll let you know how that evolved. we do have one accident of note. we're still at 61 miles per hour though as you travel southbound on 95, so not bad as you make your way down toward the beltway. liberty road at florida road, another accident of note. that should be clearing shortly. we're at 51 miles per hour on the west side outer loop at liberty, so still moving well there. fog warnings in effect at all of the area bridges, and that clups the key bridge and bay bridge, so just use extra caution. no delays to report to and from the eastern shore. a live view of traffic, and we'll see what's going on. harrisburg expressway coming down from york road, you can tell fog is an issue there. leave a little bit of extra time for yourself, anywhere you

unwilling to compromise on a mix of spending cuts and tax increases to find $1.2 trillion in savings. >> it's not an issue between a deal and no deal. it's a matter of a better deal. >> as the prospect of any deal looks less and less likely, partisan blame game got underway, each side accusing the other of standing in the way. >> one way or another, we're going to have $1.2 trillion in reduced spending. it can either be done the ugly way, which would happen if our committee fails, or we could do it more intelligently. >> republicans, resistant to raising taxes. democrats, opposed to cutting entitlement programs. >> their insistence, insistence, insistence on the grover nor quist pledge and extending the bush tax cuts. now, we are not a tax cutting committee. we're a deficit reduction committee. >> failure by the committee triggers automatic, across the board spending cuts. in washington, i'm kate amara, wbal-tv 11 news. >> bail has been denied for an

american citizen and suspected al qaeda sympathizer accused of plotting to bomb government buildings in new york city, as well as u.s. troops returning home. police say this is what 27-year-old jose pimentel had in mind when new york city police, had they not intervened. authorities seized bomb making materials, equipment, and schedules in his home. officials say pimentel was a radical followers of anwar al-awlaki and became angry over his killing back in september. >> the suspect was a so-called lone wolf, motivated by his own resentment of the presence of american troops in iraq and afghanistan. >> federal officials chose not to take the lead in this case, allowing new york city police to investigate and prosecute pimentel. >> the rush to get out of town for thanksgiving is expected to start a little earlier this year. 11 news reporter kim dacey live in north baltimore with more on what travelers need to know. good morning, kim. >> good morning, mindy. the wednesday before thanksgiving is notorious for

being one of the busiest travel days of the year, but this year travel experts say that rush could start as early as tuesday. the mbpa is expecting three million travelers on state highways, tunnels, and bridges over the holiday weekend. the roads will most likely be jammed during peak hours. if you'll be driving the i-95 corridor on tuesday and wednesday, they suggest traveling before 6:00 a.m. or after 11:00 p.m. the authorities say nonpeak hours on thursday through sunday will most likely be before 9:00 in the morning and after 9:00 p.m. even though local gas prices have dropped over the last week, they're still higher than they were a year ago, but it's still not affecting holiday travel. >> we've actually seen sort of a spreading out, if you will, over the entire week. some people just take the entire week off, tend to leave maybe on monday or tuesday, so we've seen a little less congestion. >> to find the lowest gas prices in your neighborhood, you can find a link on our website, wbaltv.com.

reporting live in north baltimore, kim dacey, wbal-tv 11 news. >> speaking of traveling, later this morning the ribbon will be cut on a highly anticipated highway project in what commuters hope will ease the congestion along the p.g.-montgomery county corridor. stage two of the intercounty connector is scompleet now. the road stretches from georgia avenue to i-95. while today's opening is ceremonial, traffic can begin traveling on the road tomorrow toll-free until december 4. >> police have one person in custody this morning after a triple stabbing in the parking lot of a bar in white marsh. officers arrived at the sun set bar beach and grill on pulaski highway around 2:00 sunday morning. they found two men suffering from stab wounds. they were taken to area hospitals. the third victim ran from the scene. meanwhile, baltimore city police are searching for a shooting suspect in southwest baltimore. investigators say a 27-year-old man was shot multiple times in the 2200 block of eagle street. that was about 8:45 saturday night. he was taken to an area

hospital with what's considered to be nonlife-threatening injuries. right now, no word on the victim's identity or a possible motive. >> jury selection begins today in the trial of twin brothers accused of a savannah tack on a pit bull. this is the second trial of the two on animal abuse charges in the case of a pit bull called phoenix. their first trial ended in mistrial when jurors said there wasn't enough evidence. the dog was so badly injured, she had to be euthanized. the man convicted of the high-profile murder of a hopkins researcher in charles village is appealing his conviction. the attorney for john walinger in has -- john wagner has filed an appeal. at his sentencing, wagner insisted he was not the man who killed last summer. for that crime, wagner was sentenced to life plus 20 years. police in prince george's county are looking for a man who was mistakenly released from jail. authorities say frederick scott was taken into custody in may for the murder of a washington, d.c., man back in march.

according to police, scott was arrested in las vegas on a first degree murder warrant and then extradited to prince george's county. police say he was being held without bond, but a clerical error recently allowed him to post bond and be release anyone with information is asked to contact prince george's county police. >> after last weekend's loss to seattle left a lot of ravens' fans confidence shaken, yesterday's very big game against the bengals went a long way to restoring t. the ravens' passing attack information full force when joe flacco connected with anquan boldin and torrey smith for a couple of t.d. passes. ray rice found his way back into the game plan. he rushed for two touchdowns and 10 4 yards on the ground. ray lewis for the first time in four years missed a start. the defense wasn't perfect, but they got the job done when it counted, including a real nail-biter of a fame stand in the red zone at the end of the game. the ravens now take full control of the a.f.c. north with their 31-24 win yesterday

also an emotional element that goes with food. that's especially important at the holidays to make sure that everyone can have a happy holiday season. >> absolutely. maybe when you're out picking up the ingredients for your thanksgiving dinner, you might think about some ingredients that someone else might want, someone who is in need. we have all the ingredients that you might put together for a dinner. we've got stuffing, potatos in a box, also canned vegetables, anything that hosts well. you want canned foods that are going to last, but hopefully they'll get eaten by people in the holidays, and also cereals. >> sure. these are the foods we need year-round, really. they're staple items, cereal can be used as a meal, any time of day, really. we've got pasta, soups, canned vegetables, canned fruits, peanut butter is a great need and jelly, and canned meats, like canned tuna fish. >> so you can bring it to the food bank and donate, but you can also donate online.

the dakotas may not get out of the 20's and 30's. most of the rain around here is now pushing off the eastern shore and moving away from baltimore. we should wind up with basically dry morning. there's a little bit of fog and drizzle out there to start the day today. visibility is down to half a mile in spots, but knowing we might get a peek of the sun during the middle of the day if we're lucky. the temperatures aren't going to move much. for this time of the year you say this is a mild start, and that's true, since the average high is in the mid 50's. we're only going to go up a couple of degrees later on today. 56 right now at the airport. 54 in cockeysville. it's 51 in parkton. forecast for today, mostly cloudy skies. we're going to start with the areas of fog this morning and some drizzle. visibility down to a half a mile. 30% or 40% in for rain showers as we head into the afternoon. this is certainly not going to be a steady rain situation. high temperatures in the upper 50's to around 60. sun rise this is morning at 6:56. overnight, mostly cloudy, a chance for rain showers again. the best chance will be late tonight. we'll drop back into the 40's. there could be fog redeveloping

jerry sandusky. and greyhound says it plans to discipline the bus driver who left passengers stranded by the side of the road for nearly 12 hours in the middle of southeastern missouri. police say after ejecting one of the passengers, the driver then stopped the bus, ordered everyone off, called for a ride to pick her up, and then left. greyhound has apologized and says refunds for issued for all the passengers. >> in today's consumer alert, as people prepare to kick off the holiday shopping season, a new survey of more than 9,000 shoppers rated some of the biggest stores on customer as much as among the best, kohl's, jcpenney, lands' end, q.v.c. rounding out the unranked list are in order symptom, overstock tot tot, zappos and amazon. it's going to cost you more to ship by u.p. suspect and fewer americans having babies is hurting the housing recovery.

11 news reart jane king has those stories and more in this morning's bloomberg business report. >> good morning. it's no secret having children can get expensive. the department of agriculture estimates one child for a middle-income family will cost about $227,000 over 17 years. housing costs are the biggest chunk of that. the number of births in this country has dropped dramatically. an economist at wells fargo says that will leave more households to rent. he also says that will lead to fewer bidesers trading up to homes, hurting any recovery in the housing market. in a separate note, we'll get a report on existing home sales for october ahead of the opening bell. an economist forecasting it will show sales falling in october for a second month in a row. and investors also eyeing the congressional supercommittee, which seems to be deadlocked on cutting the budget deficit. we'll also get results from hewlett-packard and tyson foods today. mixed close for stocks back on friday. a drop in tech and energy shares weighing on the s&p and the nasdaq. and the bloomberg maryland index fractionally lower. rates for u.p.s. going up

they had met the minimum state standards to qualify. the employee has been fired, and those affected should refile their certification. >> something literally does not pass the smell test at frederick's lab. the first reports of a foul odor emerged saturday as workers were drilling into the groundwater of a section of an installation called area b. officials say such vapors are not unusual within 10 feet of the site. however, workers will be wearing additional protective equipment, including respirators. meanwhile, a waterway often used as a trading site for naval academy has been suddenly closed. health officials say a sewage leak has made the santee basin unsafe for contact. a sewage pipe ruptured on saturday. while it has been repaired, an unknown amount of sewage leaked into the water. the acted academy prohibits swimming and crabbing there until testing determines it's safe. >> it's a tradition here at wbal-tv, speaking out great customer service in the baltimore area. this time around we asked you

franklin's hometown got a chance to take items once owned by the queen of soul home. a room full of hats and shoes and household goods went on sale. franklin was not involved in the sale herself. these were items that were left several years ago in a storage locker the singer didn't want anymore. items were sold from $10 to as high as $25,000 for a gown that she once wore in concert. anything not bought up will go up for sale on ebay. >> one lucky marine had a very special guest on his arm for friday night's marine corps bell in north carolina. as the people arrived friday night, no one ever thought they'd be rubbing elbows with a hollywood star, but "black swan" star mila kunis made a promise she intended to keep, arriving at the ball with sergeant scott moore. moore asked the date via spud tube after making a fellow bet with a marine serving in afghanistan. as proof, there are lots of pictures of the sergeant and the actress having a great time celebrating the marines' 236th

this is the second trial for the two on animal abuse charges in the case of the pit bull named phoenix. their first trial ended in a mistrial when jurors said there just wasn't enough evidence to prove the brothers set fire to the dog back in 2009. the dog was so badly engineered, she had to be euthanized. baltimore county police have one person in custody this morning after a triple stabbing in the parking lot of a bar in white marsh. officers arrived at the sun set beach bar and grill in the 11,400 block of pulaski highway around 2:00 sunday morning. there they found two men suffering from stab wounds. they were taken to area hospitals. police say the third victim ran from the scene. well, the federal food stamp program has some pretty strict rules about what you can and cannot buy with them. should fast food be added to the list? the people behind kentucky fried chicken and taco bell have abandoned their plans to petition the government to allow people to use food stamps at their restaurants. bloomberg reports that the department of agriculture objected to the proposal with
