hour, virtually no delays as the weather is starting to clear up. we are noticing that traffic is starting to pick up as far as folks who are coming here to pick up their loved ones at vw i-martial. things are moving along inside like clockwork. things are moving along relatively without a delight. if you are using air tran, it is now in the southwest terminal which can get very crowded and is expected to get credit later this afternoon. they are the most popular airline said the airport. many folks left yesterday but airport officials say they are still expected a very busy day. >> it is a busy time of the year. we work very closely with the airlines and the gsa to work together to make the travel experience as smooth as possible for our customers. we expect about 36,000 passengers locally to depart

with gusts up to 33 miles per hour and that will continue to be an issue through the afternoon and into the evening. the temperatures have been steady, in the low 60's throughout the entire day and we're expecting them to drop down as a cool front had our way. possibly scattered showers through 6:00 p.m. and after that the skies will clear out and dry conditions will follow. we'll talk about thanksgiving coming up. >> meantime, police are trying to figure out what caused an accident on 83 that sent eight people to the hospital. if it happened in the northbound side near the maryland line exit for the road was shut down for several hours world crews cleaned up the mess. it was quite a sticky situation during the evening commute in western pennsylvania last night. a tanker leaked a sticky tar- like substance between new council and harbor township for the tanker driver discovered the problem with one of the valves when he stopped at a service

plazas for it the sealant that it difficult for drivers because it was sticking to their tires. many drivers had to pull over as a result of the sticky mess. the truck may be from maryland. police say 74-year-old man was killed after he was hit by two cars last night. authorities say william frederick norton was walking when he was hit and police say after the initial accident, a second vehicle hit the victim. he was pronounced dead at the scene and both drivers stayed at the scene and police believe it was pedestrian an hour. 17 people are recovering after taxes involving a school bus, a car, and a truck last night in st. mary's county. the bus was carrying five adults and 28 student's home after a basketball game in virginia. 15 students, one adult, and a bus driver were transported to a hospital with non-life- threatening injuries. the truck driver was treated and charged with dui. crews are investigating a two-

alarm fire at a vacant home under renovation and 2900 block of allen dale road in northwest baltimore. there were no reports of any injuries. there is an increase in police presence in the phoenix community of baltimore county every week of suspicious activity. firefighters were called to put out a fire that destroyed a 1994 chevy suburban in the driveway of a home. investigators later found broken bottles that had been burned along a nearby roadway and a container of gas. the incident sparked concern among residents. >> it doesn't frighten me but it causes me concern. i would hate to wake up in the middle of the night to see my car or truck being burned up. >> of baltimore county police are urging anyone with information to call them immediately. police are investigating a shooting involving one of their officers that happened around 9:00 this morning. authorities said the victim was

shot when he went after the officer with two knives. he was taken to shock trauma. a 19-year-old man is being treated for serious injuries after he was shot in woodlawn. gunfire rang out around 10:30 last night at the intersection of rolling road and tunsberry road. police the victim may have fought with the subject as he walked to a convenience store. the university of maryland in maryland is closed because of a power outage. water got into a station and caused the outage and the school was already scheduled to be closed tomorrow and for the weekend. university of maryland it/baltimore on fayette street is closed. police arrested an edgewater man with a billy approached a 14- year-old boy and offer the boy a ride last thursday. 62-year-old was charged a probation violation warrant in connection with the incident.

the south river high school student said the man driving a pickup truck attempted to offer in a ride on his way to school and the boy later told police. the suspect is a registered sex offender. new employment numbers show the state added 3100 jobs last month which brings the state unemployment rate for october down to 7.2%. estimates show private sector jobs made up 60% of net gains last month for the maryland unemployment rate is less than the national rate of 9%. coming up, what researchers say reduces the risk of endometrial cancer in women, details coming up. with the help of a family history, our own lisa robinson traveled to north carolina and back to baltimore and we look at what she uncovered during her search for. find out who decided to pay these people a surprise visit.

forecast with ava marie. >> temperatures have been holding pretty steady as we have gone throughout the day. we reached a high of 64 this morning at the airport and we're coming down and we have some scattered showers that are pushing into cecil county. we have more down toward the southern tip of maryland into st. mary's counties of that is the bulk of the moister heading off to the east. we are still keeping our eye on shares moving into western maryland and some snow flakes are possible for the western highlands of western maryland. this is a drying trend as the front had our way. that front will bring a big difference in temperatures. you can see that front on the map as you see 60's out toward the bay but dropping for the 50's toward frederick. it is 32 currently in oakland. if they get any shares through the afternoon, some of that could fall as snow. this is the cold air coming in from the west that will push into baltimore through the

afternoon. we're talking about how temperatures will fall rather than warm as the day goes on. the showers are heading across the eastern part of maryland and the clouds have stretched back into the west recalled from the slicing into western maryland and the cold air will fall on the backside. this will dry things out because we have high pressure in control toward the planes and this will make its way toward our region for the next couple of days. after all this wet weather, we will finally get a break with drier weather into the holiday weekend. we drop down into the 50's around baltimore towards the afternoon. it will be warmer towards eastern shore, ocean city this afternoon will be up to 57 and temperatures will continue to plummet out west as the front heads east. overnight, we expect temperatures to drop into the 30's. for tonight, the skies will start to clear after the evening hours. you may see showers through the afternoon and evening but only up until 7:00 p.m.

after that, mostly dry weather and turning called about winds out of the northwest tonight 10-20 miles per hour but they will subside late tonight and temperatures will be in the 30's. thanksgiving day will be picture-perfect, 58 degrees by the afternoon and not a bad t forecast ahe ravens. it will be a chilly start to the game, about 45 degrees. the holiday weekend is upon us, sunshine is expected thursday but into black frida and saturday sunday, 61 degrees with increasing clouds. ♪ >> researchers say the bpa founder and canned goods as edit the amounts of bpa found in the body. it is a chemical used to line canned food.

75 volunteers ate canned soup every day for five days. they found that those eating canned soup experienced a 1000% increase in bpa. after more than two decades worth of data, researchers say those who drank more than 4 cups of coffee per day at a 25% reduced risk for endometrial cancer. the health benefit was seen with decaffeinated coffee. other studies have found coffee consumption appears to lower the risk for diabetes and other cancers. that is certainly good news. coming up next, your maryland lottery pick three and pick 4 numbers and we will check the instaweather plus forecast but first a look at how walz is performing at this hourthis
