this time of year. the holidays can sometimes bring out the worst in families. not to mention all the stress of getting everything done on time. a clinical psychologist says a lot of the anxiety comes from people making the holidays picture perfect for their loved ones. >> what happens with families, "mom, you should do this. if we reduce the shoulds, will be more tolerant and more excepting. >> he says that petty fights can end up two leading to big disasters. do not drink too much and table those serious conflicts until the after the holiday and tried to enjoy being together this thanksgiving. >> good advice.

an outside prosecutor will decide whether to prosecute the baltimore clerk following an altercation between frank conaway and adam meister. police say conaway may have pulled a gun. >> the president of the police union has been stripped of his powers. he has been suspended with pay after an internal investigation. he's accused of accosting a driver. the driver says westin accused him of selling drugs. he could face further disciplinary actions. part two of the robocall case is expected to continue after the weekend. paul schurick has subpoenaed

did not keep track. but pet theft is on the rise. there were 150 reports of stolen pets last year. this year, 224. they are being stolen out of parked cars and while out on a walk. there has been a new trend of dogs being stolen, up from shelters and adoption events. stolen pets are often resold on the internet. more disturbing is often how they are used in the baltimore area. >> they always need play dogs for the fighting dogs to learn their killing skills on. they need bait.

>> welcome back to 11 news today. 5:10. 43 degrees downtown. mostly clear skies right now. the sun will be coming up in about an hour to two hours. it comes up around 7:00 a.m. this morning. this is a quiet start to the day. it is cool. as we head into the afternoon. mostly sunny skies. a high temperature of 58. for the ravens game later this evening, the game is a night game so it will be cooler, 45 for kickoff and down to 40 for the end. be looking good -- should be looking good. >> authorities in arizona do not believe there will be any survivors in a small plane crashed just east of phoenix.

one of those children has been confirmed dead. the plane arrived to pick up the children and refuel. a pilot and another adult were also on board. there are new allegations of child sexual abuse by former penn state assistant football coach jerry sandusky, and one is coming from a member of his own family. his attorney confirms one of the new allegations is coming from a member of his family. the relationship is not being revealed. these are the first allegations of abuse on children under the age of 18. he is facing 40 counts of child sexual abuse. those alleged victims are all now adults. >> a new york tradition as dozens of balloons get their

>> good morning. happy thanksgiving. the weather was not so cooperative over the holiday travels. the clouds had moved offshore. all across the state of maryland, not a cloud in the sky. same thing in southern pennsylvania and the northern tier of virginia.

there are some minimal clouds moving into the ohio valley. we will see the sunny weather. there are still some concerns with flooding. we had lots of rain in carroll county and frederick county. there are concerns with some of the rivers and streams running high. there should be ending after the evening. everyone else is doing with mostly dry weather. we had mainly clear skies. 35 at the airport. 43 at the inner harbor. 32 in gaithersburg. the skies are clear with high pressure building. this system will stick around for the next couple of days bringing tranquil weather all the way through the holiday weekend. the storms will hold off until next week. we will have plenty of food. we'll have lots of sunshine.

will black friday take got a shade of gray this year? as many as 152 million people plan to shop between now and sunday. that is up 10% compared with last year. shoppers will be hitting the store today. walmart and toys "r" us are rolling out deals tonight. amazon is making deals available before and after the turkey. this will water down the activity we see in one day on black friday. if you're a traditionalist and hitting the stores early tomorrow, here are some deals. sears is giving up a coupon book with more than 3000 discounts. old navy giving out 3-d goggles so shoppers can find some secret discounts. that is business at the new york stock exchange. >> 5:21. 36 degrees on tv hill.

'slice believed the victims su son may know what happened.

>> rented a car and drove to catonsville to visit her son and then disappeared. the rental car was found in the baltimore area but there was no sign of yulia pogrebenko until four months later, her body was found. >> the case was ruled undetermined as far as the manner of death because it was incomplete. it has been ruled a homicide. >> investigators have named her son a suspect. he robbed a bank in delaware 10 days after his mother went missing. he is a russian national who has been living in the u.s. for three years. police are not providing any information about the relationship between the mother and son. investigators are not saying who she called. >> this is an ongoing

investigation. the homicide detectives are making progress. this is a complicated case because of the international component. they're working with russian authorities to put this together. >> kai reed reporting for wbal- tv 11 news. >> a man remains in shock trauma after a police-involved shooting. he had two knives when he confronted officers on wednesday morning. there is no word on this condition or what sparked the incident. >> some residents in dundalk are in shock after seeing one of their neighbors on fire. >> horrible. she was running out of the house and usreaming and yelling. >> it happened tuesday night on libertyy parkway. a man was also burned at the same location. both victims live together. the i-team spoke with neighbors
