story on election night and joins us with the latest. >> a lot of people got those robocalls on election night in november 2010. and even the household of the judge who is presiding over the case. extra people had to be called today for jury duty in the case against paul schurick. he is accused of teaming up with julia's hinson in the campaign for governor in 2010 -- julius henson. more than 100,000 calls went out that election day, telling voters the election was over, even though polls had not closed. the challenge for his lawyers, getting a jury with an open mind. >> jurors were asked whether they were biased because schurick was white. only two of them said that had actually gotten the robocalls.

the judge said his household got one of the calls, but his wife ended it. bob ehrlich himself may be called to testify. congressman elijah cummings may not want to, but the judge ruled today he is required to appear. schurick's lawyers want to know more about a different robocalls that came from elijah cummings about the same time the hanson call went out. >> i figured it had to be very influential or important person. how would they know that mr. henson's calls were going to roll, to be able to respond so quickly? >> it took most of the day to select a jury in this case and because of the notoriety of the case. the panel consists mostly of women, almost evenly split but -- almost evenly split between black and white. jayne miller, wbal-tv 11 news. >> crews are investigating a serious accident bobbing a

school bus. skyteam 11 was over the scene after it happened just a few hours ago on west patapsco avenue. the bus and four other vehicles were involved. police say several people were rushed to shock trauma. >> baltimore police detective said they are investigating war cases of police impersonation tonight. police said the crimes are happening between 10:00 at night and 2:00 in the morning in the area of patterson park. they say they are not wearing police here, but they tell victims they are with law enforcement. >> the individuals are dressed in plain clothes and have badges around their necks. they are approaching their victims at gunpoint and stealing and robbing them of cash and currency. >> police are looking for a dark colored suv without a valid license plate and urging anyone who has seen suspicious activity to call 911. if you have been a victim of one of these incidents, call the authorities. dna evidence has put an alleged

child rapists behind bars tonight. police arrested alvin ray wright sr. for allegedly raping a 13- year-old girl in an abandoned row home. >> police are really describing this as the most unthinkable case, a fully grown man overpowering a 13-year-old girl, dragging her into a row home, viciously rating and beating her up, and then basically leaving her there for dead. police say dna evidence led them to a person they arrested just a couple of days ago. >> i am happy that they caught him. he needed it. that was my friend that he did that too. she was my best friend. now she doesn't come outside anymore. >> back in the east baltimore neighborhood where police say alvin wright sr. viciously raped and assaulted a 13-year-old

girl, word traveled fast about his arrest. called more city police, while pleased to have an alleged child rapist off the streets, say they are still bothered by the details surrounding his arrest. it was back on october 17 when police say he kidnapped a 13- rolle female victim, she was walking in the 800 block of north carolina street and then dragged her into a unit which was vacant. >> she was forced into an abandoned row home. she felt for the first four into the basement. the suspect then came in and viciously attacked and sexually assaulted her, and then later fled on foot. >> the victim was raped multiple times. she literally had to stack pieces of wood and brick on top of each other to climb out of the unit before going home and calling police. the victim was taken to hospital where dna evidence was gathered from the attacker. because of the nature of crime,

it was given priority status. the dna match to alvin wright who was in the state dna database from a prior crime. >> we took the evidence that we recovered could the forensic medical examination and put it into the database. that is so we identified mr. right. >> he was arrested without incident on november 23, thanks in part to the dna evidence. >> we would not be here today announcing it if it were not for the dna and the investigators and the technicians in the laboratory that were successful in obtaining that evidence. >> alan wright is facing 10 counts in this case, including first and second-degree rape and first and second-degree kidnapping. if convicted, he faces life in present -- life in prison. lowell melser, wbal-tv 11 news.

>> an elderly man and woman are recovering to 9 after a fire at a west baltimore row house. crews were called to the 1400 block of our -- argyle avenue. both victims were taken to bayview medical center in serious condition. the cause of the fire remains under investigation. >> supporters of frank conaway are making their voices heard. they say the sparring between conaway and adam meister should be taken seriously. barry simms is live at the mitchell courthouse with the details. >> it is the verbal sparring and also confrontation that happened outside of frank conaway is home that is causing some community activists to call on the baltimore state's attorney and the maryland attorney general to take action. >> look into the threats posed by mr. meister to frank conaway as terroristic and -- in nature. >> supporters of frank conaway

gave their opinion about a confrontation between conaway and logger b --logger adam meister. >> if you to file a man's throat -- home, if you threaten his family, if you invade his personal space, you put that man's back up against the wall. >> it was part of an escalating feud between meister and the conaway family. meister said he was running on liberty heights avenue when he went past the home of frank conaway. verbally about blogs meister has written, including his longstanding claim that conaway's daughter, linda conaway, did not live here. she sued meister for $21 million, and later dropped the lawsuit. it may have cost her a seat on the city council. >> we are yelling back and forth and he is getting closer and closer. he lunges at me. >> adam meister paid a visit to

my property and started making threats against me and my family. i resented it and told him that i did. >> two police officer saw the confrontation and allegations arose about conaway allegedly brandishing a gun. >> i am not saying whether i had one or not. >> you did not pull a gun out? >> absolutely not. no need to. i could have taken care of him otherwise. >> meister said he did not see a gun. conaway supporters say it is no coincidence that meister was near his home. >> we were not there at the incident, but we find adam meister said context -- adam meister's conduct suspect. >> he said i have never been on frank conaway property in my life. if frank had a gun, it was a serious offense. everyone is entitled to their own opinion garrett kern >>

frank conaway was unavailable for comment. the baltimore assistant state attorney has referred them to an outside attorney. barry simms, wbal-tv 11 news. >> it was the end of an era for baltimore talk radio. our friend and colleague, ron smith, retired today from wbal am 1090. he revealed that he was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. he hoped he could be on the radio several times a week, but says now that is just not possible. >> the decision has been made by me to stop appearing on the radio shows. i am retiring. i basically can no longer do it. i am getting weaker every day and it is time to pull the plug. >> we all hate to hear that. ron smith has been on the air at wbal-tv a.m. radio for 26 years.

>> it is five weeks and counting until voters have their say in the republican nominating contest for president. newt gingrich continues to pick up steam, but the race is still far from settled. nikole killion has more in tonight's commit the 2012 report. >> newt gingrich is in south carolina this evening, but it is a key endorsement in new hampshire that is giving his campaign a boost. after receiving the backing of one of the venture's most prominent newspapers, newt gingrich told a south carolina radio station he is thrilled. >> we have a very serious race with mitt romney in new hampshire. >> i think it gives him some legitimacy on the right. >> political analyst michael tanner says while the endorsement may be about gingrich's credentials, it is

nikole killion, wbal-tv 11 news. >> now, your insta-weather forecast with chief meteorologist tom tasselmyer. >> a week and a half of unseasonably warm late november weather. the ninth straight day with temperatures running well above normal. we are almost 20 above today. 51 is the normal high. 69 at the inner harbor and the airport. the record highs of are just a little bit out of reach. 73 was the record today, set back in 1990. 15 on the 28th of november back in 1951. it is going to get a little chilly air, but not tonight. unseasonably warm weather around baltimore, southern maryland and all across the eastern shore. as clubs continue to increase, a little fog forms tonight with the storm approaching from the south and west. the cloud cover will keep the temperatures up.

-- as clouds continue to increase. you can see there is changing weather not far from here, unseasonably mild weather even up to boston. just to the west of us, 30's as far south as northern mississippi and northern alabama. a lot colder in the deep south and here in the mid atlantic, and even in boston. this storm is all wound up and as cold air right at the core of it. that means the rain is beginning to mix with and changeover to snow in parts of western tennessee. the cold, wet storm will be tracking north and east. we are in the mild part of it tonight and the first part of tomorrow. as the system passes by, the cold air lagging behind it will come back into the mid atlantic. it looks like the beginning of december, the temperatures will be getting back and check to where they are supposed to be. we will kedge moderate to heavy
