faced five charges but a judge ruled there was not enough evidence for an obstruction of justice charge. he is charged with conspiracy and election fraud and accused of authorizing the rowboat call to illegally persuade african american voters to stay home. two former governors took to the stand to vouch for paul schurick's character. >> he worked with me for a dozen or so years and i have a high opinion of him. >> he was straight forward and honest. >> the lawyers have argued that this was a political free speech and therefore protected by the first amendment. the defense will continue their case today.

>> gary raquan campbell -- and carry -- giordano told abc news that the accidental death policy he took out on robyn gardner was part of a policy to cover them both but he failed to say what happened to her. >> there has been a release between a circuit court clerk and a blocker. -- blogger. police witness to the altercation and they said that conway produced a pistol during the altercation. no charges have been filed.

>> a judge has committed a man to a psychiatric hospital after he pleaded guilty to cutting his wife and two teenage daughters with a knife. he was found not criminally responsible and was handed over to the custody of health. it is said that he snapped because of depression. >> we know the name of the woman whose body was found. carolyn davidson von-schnell died after her car caught fire. her body was found on thanksgiving morning. right now, officials have not determined exactly how she died but investigators say that the car drove over a hill before it caught fire. the suspect who struck a police cruiser remains in custody. police say they were following a car when the driver ran the cruiser. fortunately, no one was hurt.

we are taking a look. the temperatures are in the 20's 30's downtown. think of the beach and think of summer when you are stepping down town. you'll have some frost and a windshield. this is one of the call this morning we have seen for at least 10 days. high-pressure is moving off the coast. there is a cold front moving through the great lakes. this front will come through here but it will come through dry. there is some precipitation along the front. there could in some snow around detroit right now that will move along ohio, pennsylvania. we can see some cloud cover beginning to develop in the mountains. there is no precipitation but this is drifting over towards baltimore. we will call it a mix of sun and clouds. it is cold ones to get away from

water from a crethat creek. >> it has been a banner month for u.s. automakers. about 13.4 million vehicles were sold in november. that is the highest since 2009. sales were up for all three of the big u.s. automakers. ford sales were up by 30%. general motors' sales were up by 7%. honda is recalling faulty airbags including their acura lines. over and fled airbags could rupture and injure the person they are designed to protect. honda says they will mail letters to affected customers sometime this month. confusion among coca-cola

freezing fog in some neighborhoods. high pressure off the coast. a cold front is coming in from the northwest. i think we will escape the precipitation from this front. there is some rain and snow along the front back into the southern part of canada. this should stay north of us and back into new york state. we can see some cloud cover off to the west. watch the tail end of the satellite loop. that will drift over towards us. there is no precipitation in that cloud deck. we will see some clouds later this morning and this afternoon. 21 in frederick. freezing fog out there. north and west of town, you have to scrape some frost off of your windshield. a mixture of sun and clouds. temperatures are not going to be all that bad for this time of
