>> live, local, late-breaking. this is wbal tv 11 news at 6:00. >> embattled republican presidential candidate herman cain places his run for the presidential election on hold. herm ain cane made the announcement in a speech in georgia. the decision comes after weeks of allegations of an affair as well as several women claiming sexual harrassment against him. brian moore has the story in our commitment 2012 report.

the presidential pack and now he is the first frontrunner to fall. >> plan b is that i will continue to be a voice for the people. >> cane said he would continue to push his -9-9 tax reform and other elements of the campaign that ran its course. >> former democratic presidential candidate george mc govern is resting comfortablely after falling and hitting his head. he was injured as he headed to a live television interview. he fell at the university across the street from his home. close to 100 residents are picking up the peaces after a 3-alarm fire ripped through their home in baltimore. >> fortunately no injuries have been reported. we are told 58 units went up in

flames leaving many of the residents, who are elderly, homeless tonight. as firefighters were rushing to the scene of the 3-alarm apartment fire residents, many of them elderly, ran out of their apartments in a pan toik find safety. >> i had bad knees and had to go down the steps one by one. >> fire crews were called in just before 11:00 friday night. once they arrived they were met with heavy flames shooting from the four-story apartment building. >> our fire alarm was going off. then i looked outside and i saw all of these fire engines. >> they never saw a scene as surreal at his own home. >> looks like half the baltimore city fire department is here. >> other residents took off and left everything but the clothes on their back.

>> i was laying in bed in my underwear. did not put shoes on and rushed out. >> firefighters were able to knockout the flames, not before two large condo on the upper floors were burned out leaving up to 100 people now to relocate. those displaced by the fire are staying with family or friends in the meantime. the cause of the fire is unknown. >> all right. thank you. maryland state police and the state fire office are calling a house fire suspicious. the fire started yesterday afternoon in the 200 block of queen anne club drive. a 47-year-old man was found inside the home pronounced dead at the scene. and police are investigating a car crash in edge water that injured three people, including a pregnant woman.

rescue crews were called in around 12:45 this afternoon. officials say that it is unclear how many vehicles were involved in the crash. the pregnant woman was ejected from the vehicle. a 5 -year-old woman and 45-year-old man were taken in with non-life threatening injuries. >> it wasn't the warmest day we have seen but we will take it for the beginning of december with temperatures in the middle 50's for most of the area. not a lot of sun around st. louis as the approaching cold front is bringing a lot of rain to the central part of the country and up into nebraska. take a look at the conditions around the area right now. 42 degrees under high pressure. 47 degrees. quick look if you are heading out on the town this evening.

flo is a gentle giant. bundle home and auto at progressive.com. >> it has been more than four years since the mass shooting at virginia tech left more than 33 people dead, and now the federal government is fining the school $55,000 for not alerting the campus fast enough. the education department says virginia tech violated a federal law when there are safety threats. virginia tech said they acted appropriately and will appeal the case on wednesday. the former penn state coach charged with abusing eight boys said prosecutors misunderstood his work with children and that he never sexually abused any child. he gave a lengthy interview with the "new york times." sandusky is accused of using his second mile charity to find underprivileged boys to abuse. he said i had kid after kid

will bring us rain heading into probably monday, tuesday and wednesday. we are under the influence of high pressure right now giving us nice weather today and tomorrow. the high that you see behind the system will end upbringing us cooler temperatures as we head into the middle of next week. high pressure right now will continue into tomorrow. there is that system that we showed you bringing a mess of snow and sleet behind it up around the great lakes into portions of the midwest. it looks like a mess. it will head our way. the worst of it probably will be by wednesday. so, temperature's going to be another nice day. temperatures from 49-50 degrees. it will be a delightful day. and then for the ravens, they are not here. they are away. good football weather for the a.f.c. north. cloudy and chilly with

great season for salsberry. ravens landed in cleveland looking for a seventh straight win over the browns. joe flacco has six career games against cleveland and all wins and a touchdown to interception ratio of 8-3. curious to see what direction the ravens take. rain is expected. the ravens ran well last week. cleveland's pass defense is one of the worst in the nfl sounding like a recipe for a win regardless. when it comes to predicting games with the ravens, that has not gone well. the knock on college basketball that the regular season means almost nothing. it is only about march madness. i would implore those to not watch the replay between north carolina and kentucky. john calipari, roy williams, blue bloods not guilty sport going head-to-head. hairston, spotting up that three for the freshman.
