employee. good evening. it is a crime that has many people shaking heads, wondering who would hold up stores that work to help people in need. it was a baltimore city man who did it at a number of locations. barry is live with details. >> police tell us they have arrested a 29-year-old man. as you mentioned, he is a former employee of goodwill. it is a crime spree that has shocked and surprised a lot of people. a gunman brazing -- brazenly going into stores. now,scott pettaway is charged with armed robbery and use of a handgun in commission of a crime of violence. these happen during business hours. some customers were not aware of what was happening until police were called. the robber would force employees

and customers into an office and then take money from the cash register and the safe. richard pettaway is a suspect in least three of those robberies. >> we did determine he was an ex-employee of goodwill. he knew how they kept the money inside the store and what their operations were. that is why they were the easiest target to rob for him. >> now, he is a former employee of a store and he is being held without bail at the detention center. wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you. harford county police said three people in custody for the murder of a man found dead in his vehicle thursday morning. joseph nelson and coty lamont are charged with first and second degree murders. conroy gaylord is accused of transporting a weapon.

nelson and lamont killed christopher alves overnight. they did not find the body until a few hours later when a woman discovered in a car near edgewood square. police believe the dark window tint made it hard to see what was going on inside. police are calling the death of an elderly man this morning in northwest baltimore suspicious, and homicide detectives are on the case. paramedics and police responded to the 25-hundred block of violet avenue this morning, where they found the man dead. they are not releasing the man's identity and it is not clear how he died. we're working to find out why the death was suspicious. police are calling the death of an elderly man this morning suspicious and detectives are on the case. we were just reporting on that and we will have more on that later tonight. authorities are releasing more details tonight about the man accused of killing a virginia

company. it has grown into an organization that has similar ceremonies across the country. wreaths have also been laid at the graves in baltimore simitar. cadets say it is a way to give thanks to those who gave their lives to help our country. they will remain in place at most locations until mid- january. 10 years of giving back to baltimore's needy families. find out why these volunteers say they keep coming back for the program that may put you in the holiday spirit. first, only two miles away from the main volunteer firefighting station. officials say this is years in the making and will help them battle flames much faster.

1 >> , 2, 3. >> once this project is complete, officials say the response time for fires in bellaire will be cut drastically. it took years of planning and fund-raising. officials marked the groundbreaking of the new substation for the volunteer fire company. it is a long paterson no road to the south of bellaire. a couple miles away from the main station. they picked this location because so many people live in the area and it will help fire crews get where they need to be quickly. it to be ready to go by september 2012. police are celebrating 10 years of making the holiday is brighter for kids who need it. marking a decade of the shop with a cop program, participating kids get $100 each to spend on their cells and their families, as well as their own personal police officer to shop with. volunteers tell us their spirit is what makes the work so

maryland right now. there are the remnants of the clouds that were over as last night and early today. here is this week frontal boundary that is out there with this disturbance. there is rain. once it got over the ocean, the rain picked up again. if you look to the west, there's not much out there. there is a disturbance in canada. something will get organized in the plains states. connecting the disturbance in the southwest, it will come in but take almost a week to do that. a major feature in our weather the next couple of days will be cold air. you see these really dark blue shades to the west of the mountains, where it is only 24 in chicago, 25 in minneapolis, 21 in new england. this is the cold air that will slip in and be over as for a day or two. the next form tries to set up and start to bring in slightly less cold air. we will drop into the 19-25 degree range. 19 is to the west. clear skies, light wind.

it was seen on television all across the bridge across the country and 75 others and generated millions of dollars over labor -- liberty weekend. that sounds like success, particularly for an inaugural event. baltimore racing development has neared a debt controversy, particularly concerning the decision to bring the event back next year. the initial goal of bringing the race to baltimore was to prove the image of a city frequently shown as drug and crime infested. the shots of baltimore's crown jewel surrounding the inner harbor were impressive. despite the attendance, the excitement and enthusiasm, the event ended in financial distress. the very sites that showcase baltimore also helped exceed the initial budget projection. now, yvette planners want to discuss concessions from the city to help cover the cost. in these tough economic times, there are so many needs to be met by government. subsidizing a car race may not
