[captioning made possible by constellation energy group] captioned by the national captioning institute --www.ncicap.org-- >> live, local, latebreaking. this is wbal-tv 11 news at noon. >> good afternoon. i am sarah caldwell. breaking news in the 11 news room -- a police officer in a pennsylvania has been hurt in a car crash that led into maryland. capt. roy taylor and sky team 11 is over the scene with more. >> from what we understand, this vehicle was involved in some type of criminal activity. state police started to pursue the vehicle. the passenger in the car ended up bailing out, but operator of the vehicle continued southbound on i-83, trying to exit at the

maryland line exit, and was going too fast, loss control, jumped our guard rail and a five-foot fence. the passenger of the car that the state police were chasing was injured and taken to a local hospital. maryland state police will be handling the incident. baltimore county police are on the scene assisting. the search goes on for the passenger of the vehicle. reporting live with sky team 11, i am captain roy taylor. >> onto a big story, two former penn state administrators are in the pretrial hearing in the jerry sandusky sexual abuse allegations. tim curley and gary schultz are charged with lying to a grand jury investigators. >> penn state officials tim curley and gary schultz are arrived at court this morning in harrisburg, facing perjury charges connected to the jerry sandusky de child sex abuse case.

the former penn state athletic director and vice president are accused of lying to the grand jury, telling them that assistant football coach mike mcqueary did not inform them he witnessed sandusky having sex with a boy in a locker room shower in 2002. prosecutors' first witness today, mcqueary who appeared calm on the stand as he described in graphic detail what he saw and heard in the locker room that day. he said he first heard noises coming from the shower, looked in the mirror, saw sandusky behind the boy but he went on to tell the court, "i believe jersey -- i believe jerry was molesting him." his testimony is being contradicted by another grand jury witness, a family friend who said that on the night of the alleged abuse, mcqueary told him he only heard noises. the assistant coach told prosecutors he was shocked by

what he saw and called his father for advice. he said his next call was to penn state head football coach joe paterno, and he went to his home to tell him he saw sandusky in a sex act with a child. mcqueary also said that nearly 10 days later, he was contacted by curley, who asked to talk to him with schultz. damaging testimony just days after sandusky waived his right to out preliminary hearing, where he faces 60 counts of sexual abuse charges involving alleged victims from his charity, the second mile. >> the civilian attorney for bradley manning, the army private accused of leaking classified information to the wikileaks web site, once the presiding officer at his pretrial hearing in fort meade to step down. army lt.8 -- the army lt. col recess during the hearing to consider the request. it is considered whether he

should recuse himself because it is the justice department prosecutor and the justice department is conducting an investigation targeting wikileaks founder julian assange. bradley manning is charged with aiding the enemy by leaking thousands of secret documents to the website. the hearing is to determine whether it bradley manning should be court-martialed. former major leaguer barry bonds will find out the punishment for his obstruction of justice conviction. he provided even as a testimony to a federal grand jury investigating -- he evasive testimony to a federal grand jury investigating the steroids standar -- scandal. police are investigating a shooting in carroll county just outside taneytown. had been at the 3900 block of old taneytown road. -- it happened at the 3900 block of old taneytown road. the victim was flown to shock trauma for non-like threatening injuries. two more people are saw in

connection with the shooting. it is unclear what prompted the shooting and the assault. >> a cold front went through very early this morning, and it took the rain out of the area. we saw some sunshine for a while this morning. now it is clouding up again. another little weather disturbance heading our way. let me first circle baltimore just to give you an idea of where we are. you see in virginia a little bit of moisture. there is some rain in southwest virginia, kentucky, and tennessee, as well as parts of west virginia at this time. moisture is moving our way and it looks like a lot of it will stay south of las. that will be the trick of the forecast for the rest of the day. we even have snow in the forecast for part of the weekend. >> congress likely will be able to avoid a government shutdown at midnight. negotiators signed off on a $1 trillion spending agreement, hourly averting a government shutdown. the house is expected to vote

called for an -- decidedly cooler today. cold front went through overnight. we have a new weather disturbance out of the southwest. here we are in the baltimore area. the lighter green shades is grain up in the clouds. we see the little bit of yellow and some darker green shades. there are struggles and showers down in virginia, making it to the crowd in southwest virginia and parts of west virginia. that disturbance looks like it is going to be mostly to our south. we will keep an eye on it this evening. temperatures tell the story of the cold front. three basic colors on at the map. green it shows we are still in the 50's to the letter to shed his mid-to-upper-forties. we got into the 20s on western maryland. 20 degrees right now. here are the clouds for the next disturbance. for a while we get some breaks, but that is mostly going away as the heavier clouds coming in.
