make it here >> it was december 3 when everything changed for this young mother. she had just left the school where she was studying to become a registered nurse. she waited for traffic to clear. according to a police report, a toyota camry traveling north struck the back of a ford focus sending before focus down the street. the toyota smashed into her honda accord is splitting her car into two pieces. >> the car coming toward me, -- >> what were you thinking when you saw that? >> it was not going to stop. >> investigators are working closely to determine if any charges will be filed. the people and the other cars were not hurt seriously. she suffered critical injuries including a fractured spinal cord. her mother says finding a rehabilitation center was difficult.

most places are not equipped to handle both rehabilitation and pregnancy. she must be transported to university of maryland hospital in downtown baltimore for doctors to check on the pregnancy. >> i was praying she would be able to walk. the surgeon said, no, we are not accepting that. we are not going to accept that. these are men of medicine. they do not have the final say. >> her mother calls her fiercely independent and has no doubt she will be able to take care of two children and move on with her life. >> she will not give up and i will not give up on her. >> the baby is due on april 10 and is doing very well according to doctors. several times, she talked about going home -- a place where she is going to live is undergoing some changes. the families and friends are making donations and they are making accessibility renovations.
