us this person was well known to police. >> the investigation is in its early stages. baltimore city police say a 31- year-old man was shot and killed. the victim was standing on the porch of the 2100 block of west garrison ave. he was approached by two people wearing masks. >> that forced them into their home. the victim was shot. unfortunately he did not recover from his once and was pronounced at the scene. >> the man was shot in the head. family and friends gathered in the neighborhood of northwest baltimore. they were not allowed inside the house as detectives began to investigate. the shooting happened iran 10:00 was denied. the victim was well known to police. officers did interview people who were in the house at the time of the murder. one neighbor said she was asleep when something startled her. what she looked out her window, she saw paramedics and police vehicles.

police tell us this is a relatively quiet neighborhood. very few signs remained on thursday showing anything had happened here. just remnants of police tape tied to a fence and a tree. detectives were to develop a motive, they are also trying to find it two murder suspects. >> we are hopeful that while we have spoken to some individuals in the area concerning this incident, there are more that witnessed it and will come forward and eight us. >> police have released few details about the suspects. investigators remain confident that potential witnesses will come forward. >> thank you. two doctors are facing murder charges accused of a botched abortion procedures and elkton. we are told the doctor from utah

had been performing procedures in maryland because laws are more permissive. she along with dr. brigham have been bringing patients to this location to perform late term abortions. five counts of first-degree and second-degree murder. the two doctors were arrested after a search uncovered several human remains. >> somebody poured gasoline onto a fire pit causing an explosion. it injured at 3 teens. >> it really is dangerous. there used to be -- actor firepits are legal and in baltimore county, but this incident shows how dangerous it can be too poor flammable liquid on them. neighbors a lot of shady spring road heard an explosion around 9:00 wednesday night.

>> we saw the ambulance and it seems like the whole baltimore fire department is here. that we saw the kids outside. we knew she was crying. >> fire officials said a group of teens had a fire going and a backyard firepit 11 picked up a gas can and poured gasoline on the fire. gas vapors ignited. >> you cannot see the vapors. what ends up happening is the pan out and around you. once they ignite, it is like -- everything ignites at one time. >> two 17-year-old girls and a 70-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital. >> they are pretty good kids. i have never had any problems with that. >> it is really sad. i have a teenager -- a teenage daughter. i do not want that to happen to anybody. >> fire officials a parent was inside the house at the time of

the accident. the teams were well-intentioned but did not know the ramifications of putting gasoline on the fire. >> i would recommend if you are having a hard time starting a fire, just use of paper. never use flammable liquids. do not use gasoline or diesel fuel. >> neighbors say they will talk to their own kids about the dangers of having a controlled fires and no other family has to go through this around the holidays. >> it is very sad. i feel bad for them. and for the families. >> one of the 17-year-old girls is listed in critical condition. the other was released today. reporting live, kim basey. >> in the meantime investigators

are trying to figure out what sparked a fire at a grocery store in south baltimore. around noon today, we are told a second story building was fully engulfed in flames. firefighters had a difficult time pinpointing the exact location of the fire. they were eventually able to bring it under control. >> there are some new details and the very horrific for vehicle crash that claimed the life of a five-year old boy. the driver of an suv rear ended an acura on i 93 around 2:45 yesterday afternoon. that crash caused a chain reaction. all four occupants of the acura were taken to the hospital where jake owen died of his injuries. so far no charges have been filed. >> problems for travelers and commuters after a natural gas leak at penn station.

a gas line ruptured and this afternoon as an amtrak contractor works at the station near north charles street. firefighters had to block off the streets for cleanup. amtrak says it cost a few delays because trains were reduced to a single track. into that commitment 2012 update, new polls show the republican nomination for president remains wide open. with days to go for the iowa caucuses, there has been another shake-up in the field. >> those polls keep shifting and to date mitt romney and ron paul are at the top. >> mitt romney was losing by double digits and i was just a couple of weeks ago. now he is tied for the lead or slightly ahead of ron paul -- ron paul.

taxes will be a reality in 2012. before talking about the bad and the ugly, the governor highlighted some of the good for the state in 2011 including what he says 26,700 new jobs added highlighted in the single largest month drop in unemployment since 1984. maryland schools ranked no. 1 in the u.s. for the third year in a row. the state had its lowest crime rate since 1975 including the city of baltimore on pace for the year. a two milestone was released to reduce pollution in the bay. the governor said on top of the $6.8 billion in spending cuts made to the budget, taxes are inevitable including a possible hike in the gas tax. >> the price of a gallon of gas is down from the $4 per gallon peak that it was. somehow we have to find a way

from baltimore. not much of a change in the current temperatures. partly cloudy skies expected to start the day tomorrow. as i mentioned, there is another one of these little storms upstream. that will come to light in the day tomorrow into saturday morning. as it approaches the winds will turn to the south. it will be a little bit warmer on friday. it will be liquid this time. to stay 30% chance. as the storm passes north of us, we will get another little shot of cold air. when it ends on saturday morning there is a chance we could see a couple of snow showers and extend again. very low clouds and 30 percent chance of rain showers. let's take a look at the national travel whether for tomorrow. the only trouble spot will be in the pacific northwest. some snow in the upper elevations of the rockies. rain in seattle at 48.
