shores of lake erie. good morning. >> reporter: the gravy train of warm weather and no snow in december is ending quickly, now around the lakes, traverse city, northern michigan, started snowing late yesterday, blizzard warnings, whiteout conditions, we've had bursts of snow around cleveland and erie and western new york. buffalo so far has had just about four inches of snow, and that's the slowest start to any snow season on record going back to the mid 1800s. we're going to see one to two feet in the preferred areas. buffalo will get several inches of snow to make up for lost time. the real news is the cold air sweeping across the east, the midwest and down into florida, by friday morning we could see frost outside of miami, tamron and highs tomorrow in new york city will stay in the 20s but it will warm up again quickly by thursday and friday so a quick hit. >> get the big coats out. thank you very much, mike. it is the last full day of

campaigning before the iowa caucuses. mitt romney, ron paul and rick santorum are clusted at the top of the polls. rick perry told the "today" show this morning he believes he's going to do well, arguing 41% of voters are still undecided. iowa kicks off state by state voting to pick a republican candidate to challenge president obama in november. and just days after it threatened to choke off oil shipment iran says it successfully test-fired long range missiles that could be used to counter any attack by the u.s. or israel. sunday iran's navy reported testing upgraded cruise miss sills sils. more than 1,600 people who filed lawsuits must decide by today whether to keep fighting in court or apply for benefits from a government compensation from after at tacks of 9/11. it will take more than a dollar and a dream to play powerball. the cost of the ticket will double to $2 starting january

nuzzle in your neck and say i really love you and look in their face because that makes a huge difference. it costs you nothing and it will bring you closer. >> another thing you say is to learn how to argue well. what do you mean by that? >> all couples fight. it's universal. if you're not fighting at all you're probably stuffing it under the rug so you have to fight well because it can break apart your relationship, instead of going, "you did this" say "i feel this way." try to touch your partner when you're arguing if you can, because it keeps you connected, look in your face. if you're going to go over the edge, say something you're going to regret, take a time-out and before you take a time-out, say "i will be back in half an hour. can we regroup in an hour." >> the advice is be present in the moment. >> this is for everyone. this is for everyone, we are so future consumed about what's going to be, we're worrying. there's a lot to worry about. try to focus on, i'm here, i'm now, what do i appreciate out of this moment, what am i grateful

so dr. peterson is here with us. good morning, happy new year. >> good morning, happy new year, tamron. >> it is things most people can relate to. you have a question and don't know how to bring it up with your consider. >> everything we've talked about i've seen, absolutely. >> the first one i think is pretty common. my hands are consistently sweaty and darmp, embarrassing in socil situations. when i meet people and shake their hands. what's wrong with me? >> first off, sweating is a normal bodily function, but in some people it can be excessive and embarrassing. the most common is called hyperhydrosis. it's an overactive sympathetic sympathetic nerve system and affects 2% to 3% of the population. >> what do you do for treating it? >> the first is you could try an

anti-cholin anti-cholinergic medicine. another is inotophoresis, water that has electrical current going through it and the current stops your sweat glands from functioning. >> permanently? >> not permanently, just while you're using it. finally one could be anxiety, so if you realize that's it, find out what's causing your anxiety. >> unwanted facial hair.
