the easiest to be some of the meanest streets in east baltimore, but not any longer. overall, violent crime in the city declined by 12% in 2011. non fatal shootings drop by 9%. an analysis of population trends in the 11 -- in 11 east baltimore neighborhood may provide a clip -- may provide a clue. many residents have noticed the exodus. they credit neighborhood revitalization of breivik -- revitalization efforts by a johns hopkins. >> i have seen how johns hopkins has taken care of this neighborhood, and we have seen the crime rate dropped so much. >> from patterson park on up, yes, crime is down, most definitely. john thompson has a lot to do
