under a court cases. it appears the most dramatic step will be taken to make the city pay up. our investigative reporter has the story. >> there are 21 vehicles on the list. trucks, vans, even a bobcat, all owned by baltimore's housing authority and about to be tagged by the city sheriff. a lawyer is set to collect more than $2 million. the money was awarded in judgment to people who claim they were led poisoned wine -- when they lived in the housing as children. the mayor insists the city cannot afford to pay the judgment without affecting services to public housing residents. like any other who refuses to pay their bills, their property can be taken. >> once we get the list, we will deal with an auctioneer and optionee vehicles off. it will be a public option advertised in the paper. anyone can go and bid on a

vehicle and all of the funds will be used to pay the judgment. >> the schurick is working on tagging hundreds of the authorities computers. they are to be taken to help pay the judgment. the city spend a lot of money fighting the cases in the legal fees and interest. in this case, the amount is $2,593,000. with 10% interest, and it jumps by another $259,000. >> it is hard to believe that the housing authority has continued to spend more and more money to fight a judgment that they have already lost. it would be more economical just to pay the money and not have these vehicles up for grabs. >> this issue has been argued in both state and federal court. a housing spokesperson says the vehicles that will be tagged will remain in the possession of the housing authority at least for now. other cases involving on paid

lead-based judgments were resolved by garnishing the authorities bank accounts. >> a second person has been charged in the bleach fight that shut down a walmart. 27-year-old ebony modem is facing assault charges. investigators say odom and theresa jeffress and got into a fight when he began pouring chemicals on her. the incident sent nearly 24 people to the hospital, experiencing symptoms from the fumes. we have an update involving a robbery and stabbing on the light well near the cherry hill station last month. according to police, to people are in custody and authorities believe they uncovered the weapon used in the stabbing. one is already in jail and the other has been charged. she will appear before a judge

today, who said her bell at $150,000. good news for residents living near a water main break in landsdowne. the 36-inch water main is fixed and the water has been restored. a main broke after midnight, forcing several schools to shut down. by afternoon today, officials were able to get the water back to the affected customers. >> some low pressure complaints here and there. it is stable now. we should be in good shape. >> officials believe a faulty valve is to blame. we also learned the main valve was made from pre-stressed concrete pipes, which dates back to the 1970's. the same material used in the main that burst a few years back. a man is dead after a car accident in northwest baltimore. the 66-year-old victim was standing in the middle of the road in part heights avenue when he was hit by a car. it happened around 3:30 this

afternoon. the driver remained at the scene and police say no charges are expected to be filed. the accident remains under investigation. portions of 93 and 95 were crippled by rush-hour snowflakes. you can see from the shot of this road that there was not much accumulation, but just enough to make the road too slick for some drivers to navigate. we are live in a house and with the latest on the earlier rush- hour jams. >> for many, tonight's flurries added up to not just be a picturesque destiny, but if you happen to be in a -- on a thoroughfare tonight, you learn how even a mild winter squall can complicate your commute. >> where there has been so, it has also been very icy underneath. >> the evening commute turned into a torture as commute for those caught in a snowfall in northern baltimore county.

>> in tonight's education alert, opening statements have begun on a federal lawsuit alleging state policies that can be traced to segregation hurt maryland's is starkly black colleges. the trial began today and will last six weeks. the coalition for excellence and equity in maryland education alleges that process is carried over from the dates of segregation put historically black schools at a competitive disadvantage. a new warning tonight to drivers in baltimore county who drive past stopped school buses. patrol's stepping up patrols in their roads where children get on and off buses. police are prepared to find drivers as much as $570. they could also be issued a three-point driving and on the on their driving records. >> they may not pay attention and maybe in a hurry, thinking they can pass the school bus before the lights start passing.

day. >> they spend hours searching every day for months. that was four years ago. they had given up hope but then they got a call two days after christmas. >> completely unexpected. my mom was like, we found him. i was like, what? >> four years after he disappeared, a good samaritan found roaming a street. he took into animal part -- to animal control and employees were able to track the family down. they had taken some good advice from their bed years ago. >> we followed our standard procedures of scanning the animal for a microchip and we were lucky enough to find a microchip. >> it is about 1 centimeter long and inserted between their shoulder blades with a needle. it has identification and contact information. animal control has used it to reunite families with their pets but never after such a long period of time. >> you never know what is going to happen.

>> he was a little beat up and they did not know what he had been through, but the reunion was all that mattered. >> he still looked really good. he looked a little bit older. we got a new doll, but not as good as dodger. >> they live in north carolina now and made the trip to maryland as soon as they found out that he had been found. many shoppers are including microchips with their adoptions or requiring them. the cost is between $20.50 dollars. reporting live in the studio. >> if you are wondering, our show has not gone to the dogs. an interesting story out of utah that may prove that cats have nine lives. officials at west valley animal shelter say a cat named andrea had not been adopted for 30 days. when shelter officials tried to put her to sleep, she survived. they tried to euthanize her again but discovered she was still alive, despite initially detecting no vital signs.

the shelter decided to let her live. tonight, andrea has been adopted and has a brand new home. >> now your 11 weather forecast with our chief meteorologist. >> as we heard before, a few snow showers and heavier squalls coming at an unfortunate time, during evening rush hour, causing slippery conditions. those have all but fallen apart. skies are clear temporarily. with clearing skies and lighter winds, we are set for a cold fourth day of january. the low at the airport has been 20 degrees. that is the current temperature. a trace of snow down that way. the first time we have not talked 32 degrees for a day in baltimore since last february. the coldest day in quite some time. the record low goes back to 1879. these guys have cleared out.

-- the skies had cleared out. western maryland, with about 1 foot of snow. in the eastern part of the state, the weather is gusty at times. a gust of wind coming by with this air. it feels like nearly zero in those western suburbs. a wind chill reading of 8 degrees. there is a wind chill advisory in effect for parts of west virginia. the winds out there have begun to die down a little bit. mostly clear in the morning. 10 in the suburbs and 18 at the inner harbor. a couple of benchmarks as temperatures go are in sight right now. our first morning in the teens since last february. last time we were in the single digits was last january. last time we got below 0 was way back in 1996. it has been a while. this cold is going to scoot off the coast and get out of here.

20 degrees in baltimore. a lot of warmth in the middle set to come our way. we have got to get through tomorrow with another cold day and maybe a few more snow showers as this fast-moving low pressure in the upper midwest producing cloudiness in the ohio valley. that is driving south and east and so tomorrow evening, the potential is there for brief snow showers. not a lot showing up on our futurecast. you can see the cloud cover, an indication there may be a passing flurry tomorrow. after that, the skies clear. a cold one tomorrow. a flurry in a few stocks -- in a few spots and a west wind of 5- 10 miles per hour. the eastern shore will see the same scenario. maybe a flurry and temperatures climbing by 10 or 11 degrees on thursday. on the eastern shore, lower will be some clouds and son.

those kind of accomplishments tend to draw a lot of attention. he won the afc player of the week award today. the second time this season he picked up the honor. he finished the season with over 2,000 yards combined, rushing and receiving. he joins marshall faulk as the only receiver to have 1500 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a season. he got stronger as the season when on as most players bodies were down. >> this guy works really hard, not just in the off-season, but during the season. what he does as far as training his whole body and conditioning, i think he gets stronger as the year goes on. that has shown up in the last few weeks. >> with their kicker back to good health, they released shane graham today.
