along inmates to leave their cells whenever they wanted -- to rig the doors. a teenager is expected to appear in court. he is charged as an adult with first and second-degree murder after allegedly confessing to shooting his father. jury selection begins in the civil-rights struggle against the police department regarding a deadly stun gun incident. parents are seeking more than $1 million for allegedly using excessive force against their son. he was hearing impaired and was not wearing his hearing aids. a grand jury found the deputy justified in the use of the stun gun. a terrifying ordeal for a

family. >> they say they were the victims of a home invasion and robbery. kim dacey is live were one of the victims is recovering. good morning. >> the family is still in shock and fear for their lives, so they have asked us not to identify them. authorities say on january 11, the victim was on his way back to his glen burnie home when three armed and masked men suddenly forced their way in and demanded money. the man says the suspects forced his fiancee and their three young children to stay in an upstairs bedroom while the suspects cut his finger and slashed his face with a heated knife as well as burned his hands and ear with a hot iron. they took him upstairs and struck him several times with a firearm as his family helplessly watched. he says the suspects eventually fled the home with money, electronics, and a car, which was found abandoned nearby. the family hopes telling this ordeal will help bring the suspects to justice.

it will be a breezy day today. temperatures in the 50's later this afternoon. 36 in parkton. cooler in the northern suburbs. i think everybody will sneak into the lower 50's this afternoon. off and on rain showers. tonight, the rain will end early and the skies will clear after midnight. sunset at 5:09. breezy and colder tomorrow. high temperatures in the 30's and 40's. this is typically the coldest part of the winter for us. a chance for some light snow or flurries. it will warm up again. near 50 by monday next week. 6:15.

but they wanted to speak out to help catch the suspects. on january 11, authorities say a man -- who we'll call ted and who asked us to conceal his and his family's identities -- was on his way back to his glen burnie home in the 6500 block of cedar furnace circle when three armed and masked men suddenly forced their way in and demanded money. >> i immediately got up and went out of my bedroom and peered over to the top of the stairs to see what was going on downstairs and i immediately saw men with masks, and they were wrestling with him, and i immediately went around the corner to get my children. >> ted says the suspects forced his fiancee and their three young children to stay in an upstairs bedroom while the suspects cut his finger and slashed his face with a heated knife and burned his hands and ear with a hot iron. >> they had put an iron on the red-hot range. with my hands tied behind my back, proceeded to burn my hand.

earlier, police were called after a report of shooting in the cherry hill neighborhood. a victim was found at was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. no word as to a suspect or a possible motive. >> police are hoping you can identify the three men who stole $37,000 worth of medical equipment. police say surveillance photos show the three men in the budget rental truck and they loaded a large piece of equipment and drove off. if you know any of these men, you're asked to call police. >> a building in annapolis remains closed after a water main break. water filled parts of the third and fourth floors on monday. lawmakers and staff were up to their ankles in water.

a bit of show and tell today in the trial of an inmate accused of killing a corrections officer. lee stevens is accused of stabbing to death a corrections officer back in 2006. an expert in prison security will be called in to testify to show how easy it was to rig the door allowing them to leave their cells pretty much whatever they wanted. a body washed ashore in annapolis on monday near the 2200 block of chesapeake harbour drive. police have is just identified the body and he is from maryland. he was one of three people tossed into the bay the sailboat they were in capsized. could baltimore be the ultimate justification -- destination for

yesterday at this time it was 60, 17 degrees. right now it is 44 -- it was 16, 17 degrees. temperatures into the 50's this afternoon. 36 in parkton. it is a bit colder in the northern suburbs but everybody will be significantly warburg by this afternoon. showers likely off and on -- significantly warmer. high temperature around 52 or 53. the skies were clear after midnight. we will drop into the 30's. breezy and chilly but dry on wednesday with temperatures in the upper 30's and low 40's. we will see a chance for some snow flurries with a clipper system. both of those storms look pretty wimpy.
