was the cause of his death. >> the parents are seeking $145 million in the wrongful death lawsuit. they claim the actions of a frederick county deputy in november of 2007 led to the death of their 20-year-old son. a jury at the court in baltimore is hearing the case. a frederick county deputy was investigating a disturbance call. he says he tased the man after he for refuse to comply with police commands. then again 23 seconds later. at that time, he was on the ground with his hands underneath him. jurors heard from an investigator, a police sergeant who testified that he was called in by the sheriff's office to conduct an in custody death investigation. the sergeant said he carried it the taster to a research facility where it was checked, evaluated and deemed to be working properly. he says he created a time line

showing when the deputies arrived and the time of the tasing. he said there appeared to be no criminal involvement on the part of the corporal, indicating he should face criminal charges. >> more investigators are testifying in the case. the trial here in downtown baltimore is expected to last about seven days. >> thank you. police are still searching for a howard county woman after finding 40-annals insider town home. animal control made the gruesome discovery in her home on monday. nearly half of the dead animals were stored in a freezer. no one has seen the owner of the home for a week and the authorities said there was no power or heat. the number of animals coming and going from home seemed odd but it never expected the woman was hoarding animals.

a german woman on the missing list turned it to her station in germany. she had been on the vessel and returned home. so we know she is safe. at the moment, the vessel's captain is still under house arrest. the latest we're getting is italian media are reporting he told prosecutors he turned it too late. that has not been confirmed and he denies he is responsible for this accident. >> the accident has the cruise industry base the -- bracing for a major slump in bookings. safety concerns are rising and could not happen at a worse time. this is one cruise bookings are normally at their highest. carnival, which owns the ship involved in the disaster said this accident will reduce its earnings by up to $95 million as

their refunds tens of thousands of vacationers. >> a new study finds a drug recently approved to treat melanoma may actually accelerate the growth of another form of skin cancer. the study takes a look at the drug and researchers have found it triggers skin cells with certain mutations to quickly develop into cancer cells. most had the cancer cells removed surgically and doctors say they are excited to have discovered the mechanism behind how these new cancers develop and hope to prevent them in the future. women who have a normal bone mineral density scan at age of 65 may not be to have another for up to 15 years. researchers at the university of north carolina analyzed data on nearly 5000 older women who were followed for two decades.

many had below average scores and were considered at high risk. but those with normal scores were highly unlikely to develop the bone disease for at least 15 years. >> that was the surprise of the study. it took such a long time for it to develop. >> researchers recommend women talk to their doctors about their own risk factors to determine when to start bone scans and how often to repeat them. the fda is ordering the red cross to pay up to $9.6 million after inspectors reported finding hundreds of blood safety violations at nearly half the red cross centers across the country. violations included in effective donor screening. while the violations did not compromise the nation's blood supply. the red cross says it is taking

>> those are some cute babies. here is a look at some of our other top stories -- more testimony in a wrongful death case involving the death of a 21-year-old from frederick after he was tased twice by a sheriff's deputy. the prosecution claims the deputy was sadistic but the defense claims the deputy did not know he was unarmed. testimony will continue again tomorrow. we are getting our first look tonight on the state budget for the next fiscal year. part of the governor's plan includes significant tax changes for those who make $100 -- $100,000 a year or more. counties will be dealing with a portion of pension costs, meaning they will be taxed more to pay for it all. the governor says that should save more than $230 million in

>> covering the nation tonight -- a woman was taken into custody in dallas this morning after getting through security with a gun. agents spotted the image of the gun after she passed through security. she said she left the board before the screening was complete. officers questioned her and escorted her out of the airport and into a police car. she was a ticket passenger on an american flight to houston dog lovers make a gruesome discovery in hollywood hills last night. they were walking just below the hollywood sign when the dogs started playing with an object inside the bag. on a closer look, the walkers found it was a severed human head. officers say they also found a

with maybe a flurry around baltimore early friday morning. a little fun before the big pacific northwest storm gets here. the peak is problems for us. that's a combination of the computer model producing rain, sleet, and freezing snow altogether. might even be a light snow or ice accumulation north of town before it changes. it looks like a few inches of snow around foxboro and boston. that system will be gone by the time we play football on sunday afternoon. pre-game snow in southern new england. tomorrow night, a chance for a flurry and snow showers are more likely in western maryland. temperatures will probably struggle to get to 30 degrees. on the eastern shore, the wind will diminish the cold will stick around.
