shelters, visit our website, wbaltv.com. the night marked the 204 anniversary of edgar allan poe's birthday. for decades, a mystery man in black as mark the occasion. that tradition could be coming to an end very soon. >> people are gathering right now, hopeful this is not the end of the tradition. they are hoping he will show up tonight with the traditional trio of roses and a bottle upper cognac. i have seen at least one dozen people. as every minute passes, more people are walking up. some say have been coming for years. others are from out of state. they are hoping the tradition will resume. if no one shows up between midnight and 6:00 a.m., the tradition will be declared dead.

the life and death of edgar allan poe are steeped in mystery. it is fitting that a tradition involving his birthday is as well. in the 1940's, someone started leaving three roses and a bottle everynac on poe's grave january 19. this is the only known image of the figure cloaked in black. >> we have had several suspects, but they have passed away. this will be a mystery that will never be solved unless someone confesses on their deathbed. >> the curator of the museum has seen him approach the grave more than 30 times with the exception of the last two years. he failed to show up -- if he fails to show up this year, he will give up on the tradition. >> i will be sad, but part of it says it will be nice to sleep and not be out in the cold.

flacco have been put on the internet. the defense will have to redirect something much more challenge -- challenging. the ravens' defense will have to stand up to one of the most prolific offenses in the nfl. tom brady will create trouble for the ravens' kateri. the offense has explosive elements, but the real challenge is taking time off the clock while putting points on the board. ray lewis thinks the ultimate edge this week lies with something you cannot measure with statistics. >> i think for our team, i think we have the right chemistry right now. we have the guy who been in the playoffs who have had disappointment and things like that. we have things we want to do personally at 18. everything that we went through we definitely learned from. quite the experience factor helps. it is good to have that under your belt.
