>> the insta-weather plus forecast as 11 news continues right now. >> good morning, i'm mindy basara. >> stan stovall. >> let's go first to tony pann. >> the temperatures are below freezing. if you get fog to develop, it has the same effect like a freezing rain. there is a chance you could see slipping and sliding in some neighborhoods. for example, 27 in westminster, in the city, temperatures too warm for that. we should make it to the 40's this afternoon. the chance for rain will go up. the best chance for a steady rain will be late this afternoon and this evening. when we come back, we'll look at the seven-day forecast. we have good news there.

first we'll say good morning to sara. >> the good news is there is not a lot in the way of volume at this time. we have an accident if you travel in the city. we have fire activity not far away, morely strait street at old frederick road. that live view looks good. we'll look at that more closely in a minute. if you are traveling toward the beltway, so far tunnels and bridges check out ok despite the fact there is that mist tony was talking about. we are at 11 minutes on the outer loop north side. travel south on 95 from the beltway southwest down toward 32. let's give you a live look at traffic. that ramp coming toward us is inbound 395. so far, so good. we'll switch to a live view of 95 from joppa road and looking at a smooth start as you make

your way out of baltimore county down toward the beltway. that's the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> new this morning, the red cross is helping a dozen people whose apartments were destroyed in a late night fire in perry hall. a fire broke out at 7:30. the fast moving fire damaged six to 12 apartments. still no word as to what sparked it. also new this morning, baltimore city police investigating a shooting in west baltimore. shots fired shortly after 8:30 in the 800 block of george street. that's where they found unidentified victim suffering from multiple gun shot wupeds. no word on his condition, although homicide detectives are handling this case. >> jury selection will begin in the trial of a teenager of a man in a pizza shop.

he is accused of the robbery and murder also of a seven-11 employee three months earlier. >> the ravens road to the super bowl came to a grinding halt last night. >> quarterback joe flacco turned in a stellar performance, out-shining tom brady with two touchdowns. costly mistakes in the final quarter. the ball knocked out of smith's hands. that put the game in the hands,

the movie theater was raided. among those arrested, 47-year-old mark stewart bullock, a priest. police say father bullock was found in the theater. he was naked from the waist down where customers could see him. church officials say he has been relieved of his duties and can no longer live at the church rectory. >> in this morning's commitment 2012 report, newt gingrich says he's the best man to win the general election and mit romney says he will regroup. kate amara has this report. >> 50 delegates at stake in florida. in the critical state of florida, it is a campaign reset for mit romney.

>> at 6:13, 37 degrees downtown. temperatures are below freezing in the northern suburbs. we have been talking about this all morning. the possibility of freezing fog and mifment st and -- and mist and drizzle. you have to be careful in the northwest suburbs. it is not much. it is more like a fog, drizzle, or mivet but it is enough -- or a mist, but enough to put a glaze on the roads. until temperatures -- winds kick up to 10 miles per hour and mix out the atmosphere, this cold air will stay in place. temperatures in the 50's.

in september ended last night. though the defense bent, they refused to break, but with the game on the line and a super bowl trip at stake, ravens were unable to make it. they lose -- they tackle. 35 for the end zone. 17-16 ravens. the quarterback. 22-20 new england. still a long way to go. 31 seconds. joe flacco drops back and hits lee evans right in the numbers. i can't even -- every time i see it, i think he's going to catch it. he didn't. still you think the ravens will tie examine it and send it to overtime with a chip shot.

billy cundiff misses it, and misses it badly. ravens lose. talk about heartbreaking. john harbaugh forced to put his disappointment into words. >> i am proud of them. i'm proud of our quarterback. i'm proud of the way he played and stepped up in this kind of a setting. the plays he made down the stretch, i think it says a lot about him and his future. i like our football team and where we're going. >> i tell you what, the ravens did exactly what you needed to do to win. they out-gained the patriots and they got a huge game from flacco, but in the end they were unable to get the win or at least send it to overtime. the nfc championship did go to overtime. the 49ers lost because of two fumbled punts. smith to davis. what a post-season this guy had. 73 yards. he continued his dominance.

he wanted to do it the right way. >> a sad fair we will to the coach whose legend out-lived him. for many fans joe paterno was penn state. brian mooar, wbal-tv 11 news. >> several people, including a howard county police officer recovering this morning after an accident in mount airy. it happened on route 124 near route 127. investigators say an officer just apprehended a suspect who left the scene of a crash. that's when 25-year-old ricky ep pefment rson hit the officer and a suspect. so far no charges filed. >> no word this morning as to what, if any damage was done to baltimore's tower after struck by a car. the crash occurred at 1:45 at

fayett and president's street. no one was hurt, but some wires were knocked down. the accident remains under investigation. >> a baltimore woman facing assault charges after attacking a chestertown man with drain cleaner leaving him temporarily blind. she turned herself in to police three days after the alleged attack. she accused the victim of stealing $10 from her and threw the liquid in his face. she's charged with malicious destruction of property and reckless endangerment. >> despite a turbulent relationship with the paper and banning some reporters from access to state employees, the former governor, ehrlich, will have an op ed piece focusing on national politics. >> meanwhile, a happy reunion in prince george's county where a lost dog has been found.

on december 12 a couple reported the theft of their car and inside the car was there 3-year-old snawser -- schnauzer named cody. they received a call saying they would return cody. all three were reunited. doctors continue to investigate the theft of the car. >> good morning. an accident cleared at president and baltimore street. fulton avenue an accident. use extra caution. delays on the west side. average speeds around 25 miles per hour. of course, the weather coming into play. mist in the area that may be freezing. give yourself any extra time you

>> 6:45. baltimore city fire crews on the scene of a house fire in southwest baltimore. we're told it broke out just after 6:00 this morning on the 300 block of fulton avenue. we're told at least one resident had to jump to safety. fire department on the scene to treat several people. >> the red cross helping a dozen people whose housing was destroyed in a late-night fire at perry hall. firefighters say the fast-moving blaze damaged 6 to 12 apartments. it is believed the fire originated on a third floor balcony. >> 11 seconds from the super bowl. costly mistakes kept ravens away from their second trip to the super bowl. despite stellar play from the ravens' defense and great play by flacco, a dropped pass took away a possible win and then a

what's it looking like where you are? >> good morning, sarah. we have fog and drizzle here in hampton. fog building in the last couple minutes. fortunately here, temperatures are above freezing. we're not seeing it stick above the cars. some mist could ice things up. we had snow saturday. you can see it. black ice is a serious concern. it looks like pavement, but it is actually a sheet of ice. with temperatures warming up, it is going to have a hard time breaking down. we also have to watch out for freezing fog and drizzle this morning. this has been a lackluster winter so far. this is the first ice event we have been talking about.

we have only received .8 inches of snow at the airport. normally we have 6 inches of snow by now, so we're way behind. no big snowstorm on the way. i'm banking on it, tony, because you said -- >> now it is a protest to the mild winter. i'm going to keep this until we get at least a 2-inch snow fall. >> i better start my dance now. >> by the way, we can't use framizzle anymore. snoop dawg's attorneys called and said there is a patent. i'm not afraid of his attorneys. i will use it. we have fog and mist out there. it is not really a rain, it is

more like a fog or mist. you might have to scrape ice off your ws -- windshield. i know i did. at the airport, winds are calm. as soon as winds pick up, we will get warmer air. i think we will at least make it into the 40's. thunderstorms coming across kentucky and tennessee. the chance for rain will increase for us as we get into -- as we get in this morning and later this morning. afternoon hours, should sneek into the 40's. temperatures should drop back into the 30's.
