annapolis road at patapsco avenue, we have some closures because of police activity. looking better at the construction zone at the curtis creek drawbridge. 795 at franklin boulevard. this is southbound traffic and building in volume. 95 at the beltway northeast seeing a bit of a delay towards the 895 split because of the accident. we will keep you posted. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> we begin with breaking news. police are on the scene of a shooting in southwest baltimore. >> this began when the shooting suspect stole a police cruiser. jennifer franciotti is live at the scene to explain how this unfolded. >> this began at 2:00 a.m. this

morning. we're near west patapsco road. this is the same shopping plaza where there is a food king. i will show you the police seem. there are officers and a tow truck has just arrived. around 2:00 a.m. this morning, police encountered this suspect on 695 near washington and try to pull them over for a traffic violation. there was some kind of altercation between the officer and the suspect. the suspect took off in the police cruiser. at some point the suspect got into another vehicle and ended up in this shopping plaza. the suspect was shot at least once. the suspect has been taken to shock trauma.

no police officers were hurt. an investigation is going on involving baltimore city and baltimore county police. there will be a news conference in baltimore city at police headquarters where we will get more details about this situation. it is not confirmed why this suspect was wanted in the first place. we do know that one suspect shot and he is at shock trauma. jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> no word as to what sparked a fire in northwest baltimore. the flames were for spotted around 11:00. nobody was injured. lawyers for a new jersey abortion doctor is asking for the charges to be dismissed. the lawyers say maryland cannot prosecute their client because

the drugs he administered to patients seeking abortions were administered in new jersey. those patients then travel to a clinic in elkton, maryland. this is the first time maryland's homicide law has been brought to trial. a man is being held without bail on charges of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. the incident happened last thursday. he said the girl approached him at a party, according to charging documents. >> with gas prices on the rise, the latest proposal from the governor is not likely to sit well with voters. he is proposing to tack on a

sales tax to the price at the pump. prices could increase by as much as 21 cents over the next three years. the money raised would be used to fix roads and bridges and to help with mass-transit. the governor would rather see the state sales tax raised by a penny. >> without a consensus to raise the sales tax by a penny and dedicate that, the next best available option, it seems to me, would be to repeal the current exemption on the sale of gasoline in the state of maryland and phase in at 2% a year the current 6% exemption and have a break in there in case gasoline were to spike in any given year, to put a mechanism in place with an inflationary break. >> by submitting this proposal,

at some point, they got into an altercation and the suspect took off in the police officer's cruiser. he abandoned the cruiser and jumped into another vehicle and that led police into this parking lot. there was a police-involved shooting. the suspect was shot by police. that suspect was taken to shock trauma. no word on the suspect at this time. police are expected to of a press conference later this morning. this crime scene was being worked on by both baltimore city police and baltimore county police. jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you. police are asking for your help in tracking down a robbery suspect. look at this picture. it shows the suspect in the robbery or a forced a victim to

withdraw money from an antitm on north charles street. the suspect is described as a man in is a 30's. anyone with information is asked to call the baltimore police department. investigators are trying to determine the identification of a body found floating in the patapsco river. a medical examiner is performing an autopsy to pinpoint the cause of death. city police are handling the investigation. >> a man is charged with contaminating a case of nee meat. he's accused of pouring bleach on 96 packages of pork and beef.
